What a Hoot Bedlington is a private day nursery with huge amounts of space. It has three bespoke rooms that have all been designed to specifically suit the age stages of the children that attend.

The nursery has a baby room which allows the babies to gain great exposure to sensory media in the form of lights, bubbles and sounds. The room also has a nice half and half feel to it as the floor is half carpet and half laminate flooring. This is to allow the babies to have a cosy area where they can sit, sleep and practice tummy time but also have an area where they can explore messier materials and enjoy meal times.

The 2 year room is designed to help children become more independent and communicative. It also has its very own separate sleep time area for the children to have safe sleeps and are well rested!         

In the preschool room at What a Hoot, the children feel included in all decisions and are given great amounts of praise, independence and are able to express opinions and individuality to set them up perfectly for their next journey to school. The room is also free flow to the outdoor area, which allows children to choose where they would like to play, learn and explore throughout the day.         

What a Hoot prides itself on having its own kitchen which the Kitchen team use to cook fresh and healthy meals every day. The meals are made to ensure there is the perfect balanced diet being served to the children and are incorporating foods which are full of nutrients. Parents are always involved in what meals are included on the nursery's menus as What a Hoot love to hear what children like to eat at home.

The nursery has two apprentice and 10 nursery practitioners that are all level three qualified and above. They are also all qualified first aiders and can skilfully use this to help the children who are unwell or injured.

We honestly can't recommend this nursery enough. From our first visit when my little boy was 10 months old, the staff have always been warm and welcoming. Each room is thoughtfully set up with activities to match the children's ages and milestones. Stay & play sessions have been lovely and it's great
meeting the parents of the children he plays with.


When he moved into the next room and I found out I was pregnant, his separation anxiety naturally peaked. Drop-offs were tough, but the staff always reassured me once he settled and gave detailed updates at the end of the day. Nicola and the management team have been incredibly supportive, putting helpful steps in place that have made a real difference to both him and me.


My little boy was born prematurely, but at 2.5 you'd never know - he's come on so much since joining the twos room. The Famly app updates are always lovely to read. The support and friendliness here truly stand out, and we're so grateful for everything they do.

The staff at the nursery are caring and approachable. They always take the time to update how my little boy has been throughout the session. The food variety is really good and I always know he will have a healthy meal. My little boy always comes out happy and has enjoyed his day.

Started in September 2025 and we only had tears the first week. She loves coming in and always has a smile to the staff at drop off and puts arms out to go. I couldn't be more happy with the nursery and staff and feel she is content and well looked after.

We are really pleased with What a Hoot nursery, they have been brilliant with our little girl, shes thriving. She approaches the staff for cuddles and is sad when she has to leave. Their communication has been great and the Famly app is really handy. They have organised parent activities and photo sessions
that she can join even when it's not always her usual day. The staff are conscientious and we don't feel rushed at handovers. They always take things at our pace (e.g. weaning) and ask for our permission and feedback about next steps. We would recommend them to our friends and family.

We cannot fault anything about this nursery. They go above and beyond to make sure our daughter is getting the care she requires. Staff are very attentive and want to be involved in any appointments so they can provide further care and support us as parents. We are so happy we enrolled to this nursery.

The team at What A Hoot has been amazing with our son, they have ensured all needs are met. He struggled with a few things but they have worked beside him to ensure he learns and can do things to the best of his ability. Their patience is amazing as it can take a bit with him. As a family, we can not recommend What A Hoot Bedlington enough.
It has been absolutely amazing for our son's development.
The nursery itself is currently going from strength to strength and the current changes are absolutely amazing, there is so much for the children to do. Hats off to the full
team and a huge thank you to all the staff. Our little boy is so confident and I'm sure it has a lot to do with his past and present key workers.
A special shout-out to the three ladies for all the amazing work they have done with our little boy.

For the last two years, our daughter has attended What A Hoot and our young son also now attends. They both get so much out of their time in the nursery and really look forward to going. Childcare is a huge passion of mine and I have gained over 18 years experience, working with children from the ages of 3 months to 5 years old.


I love watching each individual child gain their very own personality, independence and skills set. Being the first step in a child's educational journey is hugely rewarding, which is why I am passionate about providing the best learning opportunities for our What a Hoot children.

Hi, my name is Leanne and I am the senior nursery practitioner at What a Hoot in Bedlington. I am room based and spend most of my time in the 2 year old's room, but enjoy spending time with the babies and in preschool too!


I started my career as a level 3 teaching assistant at a primary school in Blyth, almost 13 years ago.


Since moving to What a Hoot, I instantly knew this was the job for me. The children and staff welcomed me with open arms! The children put a huge smile on my face each day and surprise me with many moments where I feel massive amounts of pride as they do something new for the first time.
