Situated just off junction 61 of the A1 near Durham Services, the nursery offers 94 nursery childcare places for 0-5-year-olds and out of school places, including before and after-school and holiday club care, for children of school age up to the age of 11.

If I could give ten stars I would. I had very high expectations when I sent my little one to this nursery at 9 months old. This was due to working in an Educational provision myself and I have to say everyone at Clever Cloggs have consistently exceeded what I was expecting. They have gone above and
beyond with their care, consideration and professionalism for the past nearly two years. If you need to have some extra time/days the office are so accommodating, helpful and quick at responding. All the staff have developed very caring relationships with him and he really adores being with them. I don't worry in the slightest when I am at work that he is in the best place. He cannot wait to come to nursery, to go play outside, to see the staff and his little friends in a safe, kind, and supportive learning environment. A wonderful place for learning, fun, creativity, kindness and as a parent you could not ask for more. Outstanding from Ofsted but also from my toddler and my family.

It is always a warm welcome when you enter the nursery, the staff always greet my son with a smile. Developmentally and socially he has progressed exceeding our expectations. The staff are fully aware what he has done in the day and how he is progressing. My son runs in on a morning and leaves with
a smile on his face i couldn't ask for more! The staff are always professional and I feel at great ease leaving my son with the staff as i know they will provide comfort and reassurance if needed in the day. The best thing we did was change nurseries to Clever Clogs!

Our daughter has been going to Clever Clogs Day Nursery since she was 11 months old and she absolutely loves going. The nursery has a lovely, homely atmosphere and the staff are all friendly and helpful, which made going back to work and leaving her, a lot easier. Our daughter is pescatarian and had
a suspected nut allergy - processes were followed, and a variety of healthy meals that she enjoys are provided. Nothing is ever too much trouble and staff form lovely relationships with the children. Our daughter settled quickly, despite only attending for one day a week initially. Clever Clogs is not our local nursery but it came highly recommended and we are so happy that we chose here.

Excellent- all three of my children have been looked after by the loving and caring staff at Clever Clogs Day Nursery. They have all loved attending and taken part in a range of activities each day. Staff are great at communication! I'm so happy to have such an amazing nursery close to me. There is
a lot of continuity of staff too- over a 10 year period, there are some staff who have cared for all three of mine.

Very happy with the service the nursery provides my child. All staff are helpful, friendly and always happy to help. My child has not once complained about going to nursery and is always happy when leaving. Highly recommend.

I cannot express enough, how fantastic Clever Cloggs is. Their 'outstanding' ofsted award is more than deserved. They have nurtured and cared for my son since he was 1 year old. As a very anxious mother, the door has always been open with all the staff, particularly the nursery manager to discuss anything
I needed to.
My son is safe, nurtured, and stimulated in every room he has been in. The staff are personal, and caring and nothing is ever too much. My child is always happy coming to nursery each day and is always full of beans talking about the variety of activities he has experienced that day.
The app is also great if I'm feeling anxious I can check in and see details of his day which always gives me reassurance. I genuinely feel like Clever Cloggs has been a fundamental part of my son's growth. Helping him with developing skills and learning to get him ready for school and also as a mother made me feel comfortable about each new step. Genuinely cannot recommend them enough.

The staff are so friendly and helpful. My son loves going to nursery. In the time that he has been at this nursery, he has come on loads. We will be sad when it comes to July when he leaves to start school in September.

The staff are very kind and caring. They also seem very knowledgable, especially when it comes to preparing kids to start school. Lots of activities for the kids, lots of outside time, food seems to be very good (although obviously haven't tried). We're glad our child is there.

Our children love Clever Clogs Nursery and look forward to going to nursery. Activities are varied, staff are kind and enthusiastic. The staff take note of the children’s interests and often tailor the activities to include their interests. I would not hesitate to recommend to others.

My children both love to attend Clever Clogs. The staff are so fun and kind and create a great learning environment for my children. My daughter first came here to Clever Clogs Bowburn a year ago after her previous nursery closed down. All the staff have made the transition so simple by being welcoming, caring and professional. They have made an effort to get to know the whole family and communicate the day's activities in person
as well as on their digital learning platform. The children are provided with a wide range of activities throughout the day to keep them entertained and stimulated. My daughter particularly enjoys talking about the crafting projects that we get to bring home. She has also made friends that we know will help ease her transition into school.

Clever Clogs is great! Our previous nursery closed suddenly in February 2023. We had no choice but to move our little one. We went to Clever Clogs with a little apprehension, but it turned out to be a fantastic move! Our little one learns much more here than in her previous nursery. Learning here is
very hands-on: moths, lambs, owls, caterpillars, you name them! They take the little ones outside very often (every day) and they love playing outside. Food is good. The staff is great!

Absolutely brilliant nursery. I brought my daughter here after her previous nursery closed down, I was thrilled to find out that a lot of the staff who had cared for her since she was twelve months old were also joining this nursery. She has settled in so well and has made lots of new friends, she loves
seeing the staff from her previous nursery, in particular one who gets a cuddle from her every day! My daughter is due to start school in September 2024 and I would like to thank Clever Clogs for helping to prepare her for this, she will also be in the same class as some of the friends she has made at Clever Clogs. The staff looking after my daughter in the Clever Thinkers room are absolutely fabulous, she loves seeing them in the morning and the activities they plan for the children are brilliant.
The communication and engagement with parents are absolutely brilliant, I always find out about my daughter's day in detail when I pick her up. Thank you Clever Clogs!

Excellent nursery with great staff and plenty of learning activities for toddlers, he enjoys coming to his two days per week and has made a lot of progress socially. They give great updates throughout the day with their online system and often add photos when they get involved with different activities.

Both my children have gone here and I would recommend this nursery to everyone. Staff are amazing with the kids and easily approachable for the grown-ups. The facilities and activities are so varied, educational, and great fun - my son loves it! The food sounds healthy and delicious, too. Communication
is fab - I feel like I know everything that goes on and that I am kept up-to-date with all information regarding my son, his room, or the whole nursery. Leaving your children in someone else's care is difficult, but the staff at Clever Clogs Bowburn make it so much easier. I am a very content mum!

Our little boy has been going to Clever Clogs Bowburn since January 2022 and it was the best decision ever. He has developed loads over this time and enjoys going into nursery. All the staff are amazing, dedicated and professional and we've had peace of mind knowing our child is getting the best care.
In our case, it made a difference between returning to work or staying home with him. Besides being updated by the staff when we go to pick him, we get updates through the App on what he has been up to and we really enjoy reading these. It also prepares us for what to expect when he gets home. The instant messaging tool is really helpful too as it facilitates easy communication between parents and the school. Thank you Clever Clogs for caring for our child. You are good at what you do and we applaud you.

"I gained my NNEB in 1994, and following that, I worked as a Nanny in a private home. I then went on to work in a Nursery when I relocated to the North East, progressing from practitioner, to room lead and then Deputy Manager. I gained my Foundation Degree in Education and Care in 2008. In 2023 I came to Clever Clogs as Deputy Manager and in June 2024 started to work as the Manager. I love to watch children learn and explore their environment. I particularly enjoy working with children in the outdoors and learning about mini-beasts and team building.


In my spare time, I spend with my family walking our dog.

I gained a qualification in Early Years and Education in 2015. I joined the Clever Clogs team in 2022 and became a senior in the Little Explorers room before becoming the Deputy Manager in 2024. I enjoy watching the children develop and get involved in activities especially all things messy.

I hold a level 3 qualification in education and care which I gained in 2021. I have been a part of the Clever Clogs since qualifying in 2021. I enjoy watching the children achieve their goals and milestones. I share their pride in their achievements!


In my spare time, I like to go shopping and socialise with my friends and family.

I'm the senior in the Little Explorer's room. I have a wealth of knowledge with over 22 years of experience.
I have a BTEC National Diploma in Early Year, I am still as passionate about working with children as my first day.


In my spare time, I enjoy exploring the Yorkshire Dales with my husband, daughter and my parson Russell Terrier".

I have my qualification in Early years which I gained in 2013. I came to Clever Clogs in 2016 where I am now working in Clever Thinkers and the senior in our Fun Club. I am passionate about SEN and qualified as SENCO in 2020. I enjoy watching the children in my care grow and develop and like to provide exciting opportunities for them to explore.
