My son has attended 'The Montessori People' nursery since the age of 8 months. He has progressed through babies, toddlers, tweenies and pre-school, we decided he would complete his first foundation year at Montessori due to the fantastic work, commitment and dedication of all staff. His development during his time at Montessori has been excellent and he has hit key milestones on or ahead of target. The learning is always relevant but fun and parents are always kept up to date and encouraged to participate in the child's learning and development. The nursery is open from 7 am until 6 pm, ideal for busy working parents. I would not hesitate in recommending the services provided by 'The Montessori People', so much so that my son started school in September 2017 but still attends Montessori for breakfast, after school and during school holidays. This is more than just before and after school care, the staff are still stretching and challenging him in areas relevant to his school work.
Following a joint decision with my childminder, that this was not the best childcare option for my daughter, due to her becoming too distressed each time she attended, I felt anxious about finding her somewhere else to go whilst I was at work. Both of my nephews attended the Nursery and my family had nothing but good things to say, so we decided to have a look around. When we arrived, the staff were very welcoming and showed us around. The following week, she started taster sessions, then was a regular in the nursery two days a week.
The staff in the baby room are second to none. My daughter will hold out her arms to go to them, even when she has not seen them for five days and has developed a lovely relationship with them. She has had a variety of foods and has developed her skills significantly. I can't thank the staff enough for how welcoming they are and professional in every aspect. An excellent Nursery and any parent would be lucky to be able to get a place there for their child.
I chose this nursery when my daughter was 2 yrs, the main reason being the previous one closed down & we needed something that opened at 7 am. I am very glad that I chose this & happy to be a part of this lovely nursery.
The staff have been amazing & have made a lasting impact on her. She loved going to nursery. When she used to play at home she would pretend to be her teacher, her dolls being the children and play with them/ teach them. This shows how much respect she has for them. They personalise teaching to children's abilities & have boosted her confidence in her own abilities. The facilities are excellent with IT, etc. I even borrowed some of their resources to improve teaching at home. They have always been very encouraging of parents’ involvement. As me and my husband work long hours, they have been very flexible. Now my daughter has moved on to school and misses her nursery, we still find their help invaluable during half terms/ holidays. She has made some lasting friends.
The Montessori People is a special nursery and has been part of my family's life for the past 7 years (2 children). Our paths met by accident as my daughter's previous nursery closed down and her adventure at Montessori People began. This was one of the most fortuitous events that has happened to me. My children's development has been amazing. They have come on leaps and bounds through skills they have acquired through the Montessori syllabus which has prepared them well for their next challenge of primary school. I can't speak highly enough of the staff who are caring, attentive and clearly love their work. The staff's enthusiasm for the children's development is clear to see and it will be a really sad day when my child leaves for the next stage in their life to not see the staff again. I cannot praise this nursery enough and I would urge any parents who want their child to get the best start in life is to seriously consider The Montessori People.
Our little boy started at the Montessori people in March 2017 when I went back to work. After 9 months off on maternity leave, I was terrified of leaving him with 'strangers'. I and my partner went to view a lot of different nurseries but I was never sure that any of them were right. A few friends of ours have children who go to the Montessori people and all of them recommended it, no one had a bad word to say. We went for a look around before registering and the staff were more than happy for us to do that. After registering, we went for a few hours taster sessions where I could leave my baby and go back for him a couple of hours later. I was worse than he was! He absolutely loved it and still does. The staff are lovely with him and us, he is more than happy to go to them on a morning and is sometimes reluctant to come away on an evening, he is having to much fun! I would highly recommend the Montessori people, they are brilliant!
My son has been attending the Montessori People for 2 years, he loves going to nursery and I feel very confident leaving him each day. He has made lots of friends and I feel the staff have really brought him on with regards to his development.
My little girl has been attending this nursery since 5 months old. All staff are fantastic and always extremely friendly and polite. My little girl has come on leaps and bounds while being in babies and toddlers can't wait to see how she progresses throughout the rest of the rooms.
My son loves going to nursery! He's been attending since he was 6 months old. The staff are genuinely caring and very knowledgable. Excellent communication and my son has come on leaps and bounds. We love to hear about his day when we collect him and we know he'll always have a big grin on his face.
Both of my children attend this nursery, my son joined later on in Tweenies and was brought on so much from his previous nursery. He was challenged and enjoyed the structure of the day more. In pre-school he has gained so much confidence and has gone from strength to strength with his writing, numbers and colours. All of the staff are really knowledgeable and helpful and always available for questions, the handover is comprehensive and any incidents falls etc are reported to parents immediately. My little girl started in the baby room, where all of the staff are great at dealing with the separation. She is growing each time she goes and getting more and more confident and wanting to do her workbook with staff
The nursery was incredibly supportive during the challenging time of settling our child into nursery. I believed they went above and beyond to make him feel at home until he eventually settled of his own accord. Since then he has developed significantly through the efforts of the nursery staff on his twice weekly visits. He is often coming home with something he's helped make and the nursery really does foster the values of education and family their brochures describe.
My daughter has attended The Montessori People since she was 4 months old and has really enjoyed her time here. The staff have been exceptional throughout her time here and I can't thank them enough for the difference they have made to our lives. They have always gone above and beyond and she is leaving after 4 years to go to school as a confident, polite and intelligent young lady.

Meet the Team (1)
Hello, my name is Cheryl
I started my career in education at eighteen years old. I worked within the voluntary sector with Teesside University and Middlesbrough Local Authority whilst studying, and I discovered my passion for working with children.
I graduated with a degree in Youth Studies in June 2008.
In September 2010, I began a new journey to start a Postgraduate Certificate in Early Years Practice at the University of Northumbria. I chose this course as it offered learning on a part-time basis which would work alongside my work commitments and allow me the opportunity to learn within a recognised and respected university.
