My daughter has come on miles since joining Busy Bees in May 2016, just before turning 2. She is always happy to attend and has made lots of friends. She always has something new to say, she has done or learnt throughout the week.

My daughter has been at Busy Bees since she was 9 months old and she is now 3, getting ready to go to preschool. I have found that the key workers in the room are all brilliant with her and treat her as if she was family. My daughter has learnt the importance of sharing, she loves the programme of activities,
especially the variety of dance class, wake and shake, that is now, shake and write. She has learnt how to be creative through drawing and role play within the room. The quality of role play items is really good and the area is always clean. Her key worker has been very influential in my daughter's development, I was very impressed that my daughter was able to write the first letter of her name and I think she will be able to write, recognise the letters in her name very soon. The observations are now being published in a timely manner that when I have access they are more relevant in time and I can work on developing at home.

Son has been in this nursery for over two years and has improved in confidence and social skills, as well as learning so much from the play time and activities the nursery staff encourage them to do. Would highly recommend the nursery to anyone thinking about it as a place for their young one. Staff
are very skilled and lovely with the kids as well as adaptable depending on the individual needs of the child.

My child is so happy at nursery. The warmth, care and love for my child are so transparent. Staff are very approachable, have in-depth knowledge of my child and always have time at the end of the day to talk through what has happened and share news with me.
All staff at the setting are friendly and
helpful. We, as parents, couldn't ask for a better setting for our child.
Activities are both child-led with children's specific interests taken into account and adult led to ensure a balance throughout the day.

Absolutely brilliant nursery. My daughter loves coming here and has made so many friends. It's lovely hearing about what they get up to when I've finished work and come to pick her up. They have an exciting food timetable and really useful online log in to track how they're doing. 100% recommend.

My little boy loves nursery, the staff have been massively supportive and always take the time to talk to me about my child's day and listen when I want to share something. They keep me informed of any relevant information regarding his progress and are always willing to share ideas to further aid
my child's development.

The surroundings are fantastic and I love that my child has access to outside whenever they like. It's clear that staff spend quality time considering what activities to have out for the children and take into consideration the interests of the child as well.

Staff are cheerful and friendly. You always get a warm welcome when you arrive and leave.

My daughter has attended Busy Bees for the last three and a half years. In that time the care she has received has been exemplary. The staff are amazing - they care for her in a way that makes me feel like she's the most important child there. The staff have a wealth of knowledge and experience and
use this to develop the children socially, emotionally and academically. There is a great pupil: staff ratio, so I know that supervision is always appropriate and well covered.

IN house cooks ensure that meals are cooked daily and onsite from fresh produce. This has encouraged my daughter to try new things, which is excellent as she tends to be quite a picky eater.

I cannot support Busy Bees as a Nursery and Pre School provider enough!

Very pleased with the quality and level of care that my daughter receives, and both myself and my partner both like seeing her progress on the parent zone app.

I feel as though I can drop my daughter off and go to work with the peace of mind knowing she is well looked after by the excellent staff,

and she enjoys being there.

I send my two children here numerous times each week, I couldn't say anything bad. They both love their time at nursery with their friends. The staff are great with the kids and it shows in how much my children love their nursery teachers. I've seen the menus the children get which is nice and varied
and considerate of their dietary requirements. Over the Xmas period, the nursery has continued to run fine too, despite the very poor conditions we've had, it's been open business as usual and on time which really impressed me.

Our daughter has been at this nursery since she was 9 months old and we have always felt that she is well cared for, her needs are met, and her education at all levels has been great. She's learning new things all the time and has been encouraged in her curiosity about the world, as well as in her
need to get muddy, wet and covered in sand! Her key workers have always been fantastic and the nursery is happy to talk about any issues at any time. We'll be sad in September when she leaves for school.

My son joined Busy Bees when he was 10 months old, obviously, I was very apprehensive leaving him with strangers when I returned back to work. His key worker was fantastic and very reassuring and after a few settling in sessions he was great and it was a real reassurance leaving him. I can’t fault the
nursery one bit and he has really progressed since he joined almost 12 months ago and settled with his new key worker. I find him very sociable with other children, willing to try new things and in a great routine, I feel this is partly due to him attending nursery. My only negative would be that we can’t send him more often. All the staff are fantastic, very friendly and very caring towards the children.

I have recommended the nursery to a friend whose daughter now attends Busy Bees Silverlink as I am so happy with my son's progress. His confidence is increasing each week and he really enjoys it, which makes it so much easier to go to work knowing he is content and comfortable and the friendly, helpful
staff really make a massive difference too.

Our daughter has been at Busy Bees for several months now, and she absolutely loves it. She is always talking about what she has been up to, and we are really happy with all the activities and food options. Having used other nurseries elsewhere before we moved to Newcastle, I can honestly say that Busy
Bees is the best - lots of space, lovely outdoor play area, friendly staff and plenty of opportunities to get involved.
We have also really enjoyed taking part in the charity activities.
In practical terms, the location is also really useful with lots of space for parking/dropoff.

I am a parent to two children in Busy Bees Newcastle, my little girl has just turned 2 and is in Squirrels class and my little boy is 3.5 and is in Owls, which is the preschool class, both have been attending since approx 10 months old.
The reason for our choosing Busy Bees Newcastle was mainly due
to its amazing outdoor space. They operate an open door policy which means the children can go outside whenever they like and as a Mum of two very outdoorsy and active children this is fantastic. Each class has its own dedicated garden area and within their gardens, there is an undercover section so they can be outside even when raining.
Each key worker that my children have had, has come to know myself and my children so well, I leave them there on a morning, knowing that they will have an amazing fun filled day, packed with activities and they are fed incredibly well with all food prepared and cooked onsite from scratch.
It really has been an excellent nursery for us all.

The nursery is excellent and our daughter loves coming. We know she is very well cared for and there is a great mix of play, fun and learning. The staff are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. We'll be very sad when our little girl has to leave to go to school. Thank you for being brilliant!

Current Review Score: 8.4 (8.386)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.4 (8.386) out of 10 for Busy Bees Newcastle Upon Tyne is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 3 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.4 out of 5 from 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 5.000 for Busy Bees Newcastle Upon Tyne is calculated as follows: ( (36 Excellents x 5) ) ÷ 36 Ratings = 5
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.386 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Busy Bees Newcastle Upon Tyne is based on 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.25
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 110 number of registered child places is 22. 3 Positive Reviews ÷ 22 = 0.136
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Centre Director

Hello, my name is Rebecca and I am the Centre Director here at Newcastle Upon Tyne. I have worked with Busy Bees/ Kids 1st for several years where I have progressed from nursery nurse to Early Years Teacher, deputy manager and now Centre Director.  I am passionate about working with children in the early years and ensuring they receive high-quality care and education through enriching environments and opportunities; this strived me to complete my degree in Childhood Studies and my Early Years Initial Teacher training at Northumbria University.

The nursery team is like a big family and many of the staff team have achieved long service awards for their continued service. Having such dedicated staff shows that they are committed to their profession and our families at the centre. I am very proud to be part of this team and thoroughly enjoy my role in the nursery.

Outside of work, my interests include listening to live music and going on walks with my dog Milo, usually along the coast.
