Formerly known as Blaydon Day Care, Spring Nursery Blaydon is situated within the grounds of Parkhead Primary School.

Open 51 weeks of the year between 8:00 and 18:00 Monday to Friday. For eligible parents, the setting offers 15 free hours per week through two-year funding, together with the extended up to 30 hours available for three and four-year-olds.

An established staff team works hard to build relationships with parents/carers so that views are valued and are included in the child’s learning and development. Keyworkers plan activities which are developmentally appropriate to each child’s individual needs and interests providing reassurance in a warm, safe environment.

As a Spring nursery, the setting shares the aim to encourage every child to discover their own individuality and to learn about the modern world through play.

I honestly can't put into words how much I love this nursery. My eldest went here and now my youngest does too and it has been the best decision for both of my girls. The difference in my little one since she started is amazing. Her talking, her confidence, making friends, counting and most of all her
happiness have come on so much.


She built the loveliest bond with her key worker straight away and even plays nursery at home which tells me she feels safe and happy there. The staff treat the children like their own. They are so kind, patient and genuinely caring.


The kids think they are just playing all day but the things she is learning honestly blow me away. My little girl is only two and already learning days of the week, seasons, letters, numbers, the weather and so much more.


They are always easy to talk to and I have never once felt worried leaving my daughter. I recommend them to everyone I know and could not speak highly enough of them.

Our daughter has been coming here since she was 2 years old and the staff have been amazing. She's really developed and came on a lot and this is all down to the hard work and commitment of all the staff there.

My child loves coming here, the staff are very good at making the children feel welcome at all times. The only "gripes" I have is, when the staff rock up to work 2 minutes before they are suppose to start. It doesn't look great from a parents perspective.


Secondly the amount of different illnesses

the children are allowed to attend nursery with is unbelievable. My child is permanently coming home with different illnesses caught from another child at nursery. I understand this is a blanket policy. This really needs to be looked at again as this affects the parents if it spreads in each house hold.

My little boy is thriving at nursery and his face lights up every morning on his way in. The staff are attentive and friendly and have built fantastic relationships with my son! Communication is great too!

My son started at Spring Blaydon at the beginning of October. He is 2 years old & spent his first 2years with me, so found the transition of leaving me hard to begin with.
The nursery was so supportive of my son & myself during his settle sessions & first weeks. They kept me updated &
made a big effort to help my son to build bonds & feel secure in nursery and with his key people.
My son settled so well and quickly considering he's not used to being left with anyone other myself & some family.
He is happy and cared for. The nursery provides some fab activities to engage the children and pay attention to children's interests and like to link learning and experiences with home and nursery. I honestly can't thank the nursery enough and look forward to the next few years of my son's time there.

He struggled at first to adjust to life away from home but the staff at Spring were amazing at welcoming him each morning with a smile and getting him settled. His speech and social skills have come on amazingly well and the range of reading, art and practical activities have been diverse. He enjoys
going into nursery and talks at length about his day, often wanting to go in even on his days off! Thank you for being the start of his learning journey.

My son has been attending this nursery since just before he turned 1 year old, and he's leaving for big school this year. The staff have always been fantastic and supportive and he always comes out with a smile on his face. Regular updates on the app and always a quick word at handover to report on

My daughter has been attending Spring Blaydon for the past 6 months, since she was 10 months old. It's nerve-wracking dropping your baby off at nursery for the first time as a new parent and the staff were really reassuring, giving me regular updates. As my daughter is getting more communicative, I
can tell that she really enjoys nursery - she is very happy to see the staff members and when I drop her off, she is always interested to see what's going on in the nursery and doesn't even look back!

I'm so happy we chose Spring Nursery in Blaydon for our childcare needs. All staff are very friendly and caring and my little boy is happy to go into nursery each day. They have developed lovely learning environments for the children to explore and it also has a warm, cosy feel too. There is great communication
via the app so I know how my baby is doing throughout the day and I can see how his development is monitored via their observations. They have also been flexible when needed to add additional days. Would highly recommend.

The most amazing nursery, who always go above and beyond in levels of care and support. My son has settled in so well, all the staff are so friendly and supportive for both parents and child.
Even on 2 days a week, we can see how much our boy has come on walking, playing, sharing, and with his words.
We're so impressed and so grateful.
Our baby is due to start in the new year and we feel really confident going to work and leaving our little ones in the amazing care of the staff at Spring Blaydon.

My son started the nursery in February 2024, at the time he was a year and a half old.
For him, it was the first experience and the first time he had been left with someone different to Mama.
I am really glad and grateful to the Spring Nursery staff as my son has been really happy and content attending
the nursery. He goes two days a week and he really loves it. He goes happy and comes back happy.

The staff at Spring are absolutely amazing. My little girl loves going to nursery and just runs in and says 'Bye Mammy, see you later'.
The staff always let you know how your little one has been during the day/what they've eaten etc.
If any concerns are raised about a child's development they will
support you in any which way they can. They've been fantastic with my little girls' hearing/sensory issues
I can't recommend Spring Blaydon enough.

Our son started nursery here in 2024.
We were pleased with the induction - lots of clear communication and the offer of extra sessions to help him settle in.
Our son seems very happy at the nursery. He’s stimulated and always comes out with a spring in his step. The nursery staff have made an effort
to get to know him and what he likes.
The ongoing communication with us is also excellent, and the nursery is very accommodating with extra sessions when required.

As the Manager at Spring Blaydon I am passionate about and committed to providing the very best start for the children in our care.
I have worked in childcare since 2001, in this nursery since 2015. Recent Ofsted inspections rated the nursery Good and we are continually striving to achieve outstanding.
I want all children in our care to have the best start in life and excellent learning opportunities.
