Ofsted Outstanding (February 2024) Holly Bank Nursery is a well established nursery tucked away in a quiet leafy part of Edgerton and provides care and education for babies from twelve weeks to children aged four years.

The nursery has a warm and friendly atmosphere with light, spacious rooms. These include a baby room, toddler rooms opening directly onto the outside play area, a large well resourced pre-school and a dedicated soft play room.

The outside areas also provide opportunities to challenge and excite young children with multi sensory gardens, a natural willow den, large sandpits, climbing apparatus and areas to grow vegetables.

Our experience at Holly Bank has been spectacular. Sending our son there is one of the best decisions we've ever made for him. From the get go, all staff have been wonderful with him, and have also been extra supportive for us as parents. Our son struggled with weaning but the team in the baby room
worked with us and now, he's doing brilliantly with his eating. Furthermore, every day he's there, we get great pictures and updates on how he's doing. His key worker is wonderful. We can see why Holly Bank is OFSTED Outstanding!!!

My daughter moved to Hollybank a year ago after 2 plus years at a previous nursery. At first, the transition was really hard for her, and the Holly Bank staff were so patient and supportive while she found her feet.
She's really thrived in the past year and is a much more confident child. The staff
couldn't be better and we always get lots of feedback on her progress and what she's been up to on her days there.
The setting is great, and they do a brilliant range of activities to keep the children engaged.

Since my daughter started nursery, we’ve had a positive relationship with the manager and room staff.
The staff who have worked closely with her have been great and helped her develop.
There is good communication and if issues are raised, they are dealt with fast and efficiently.

My son has attended Holly Bank Nursery for just over 2 years now, he loves going to nursery. The staff are great and are very helpful & understanding. Feedback is given every day and is detailed, staff are always welcoming and happy. My child has learnt so much and talks about his day at nursery and
how involved he gets (helping a member of staff) in little jobs as it shows him good role model skills. This member of staff always puts in the extra effort to help him with his learning and knowledge. I would 100% recommend the nursery to others.

Our experience of Holly Bank Nursery has been excellent from the very first time we visited to this day.
Our son took very little time to settle into nursery life and has gone from strength to strength ever since. Each of his transitions to toddlers and now to preschool have been smooth and he’s very
happy and comfortable with his surroundings, staff and peers.
He always has us a tale or two to tell at the end of each day about what he’s been up to, who with and what he’s enjoyed playing.
He’s had several key workers in his time and each of them has been so lovely, communicated with us brilliantly and helped him to progress and thrive!

My son has attended Holly Bank Nursery since he was 1 year old and he is now 3.5 years old, confident, lively and full of information! Holly Bank has encouraged him to explore, learn and express himself. The facilities are fabulous and give the children space to choose the activities they want to take
part in. He has always been a good eater but the food at Holly Bank has undoubtedly fuelled his enjoyment for cooking (and eating!) with a great menu, home-cooked from fresh ingredients.
They have supported us, as parents, to navigate each new stage of his development and we couldn’t be happier with the care he has received there. The staff are kind, caring and incredibly knowledgeable about the children and this is evident in his excitement to talk about the activities they take part in, the daily feedback we receive, as well as the app updates. We feel so lucky to have been able to get a place at Holly Bank.

My little boy is an extremely fussy eater, and I often struggle to get him to eat food other than his ‘safe’ foods. Since last month, he’s made huge progress and has started to eat more of a variety. This is all due to the support from the staff at Hollybank, their understanding of the situation and

Our daughter began her journey at Holly Bank Nursery when she was just 10 months old and as she approaches her second birthday, we couldn't be more thrilled with her growth and development during her time there.
One of the most beautiful transformations we've witnessed in her is how she's blossomed
into such an independent little girl. The nurturing environment provided by the staff at Holly Bank has undoubtedly played a significant role in this.
We've been incredibly impressed by the continuous support our daughter has received throughout her time at the nursery.
One aspect that truly stands out is the willingness of the staff to collaborate with us, as parents. Our key worker has always been receptive to our suggestions and requests and has actively supported us in reinforcing learning and development activities at home.
In summary, our experience with Holly Bank has been nothing short of exceptional. It's heartwarming to see our daughter thriving in such a loving and supportive environment.

My daughter has been at Holly Bank nursery for 9 months now. I would have no hesitation in recommending the nursery.
All the staff are so friendly, attentive and show a genuine interest in all the children. I have full confidence that my daughter is well looked after and she absolutely loves her days
in nursery.
The management/admin staff are also very helpful and accommodating of changes/extra days.

A really fantastic nursery. My daughter loves going and has developed so much since she started at Holly Bank, almost a year ago now. I always feel secure she is being well looked after and is having a lovely time. The staff are all so friendly and welcoming, and you can tell they really care about
the children. They send updates during the day via their app and always give you a full run down at the end of the day so you know what your child has been doing. They are just lovely people and it's a great nursery.

Our little one has been at Holly Bank baby room since June 2023 and I have nothing but fantastic things to say about the nursery.
Communication is excellent - we get a written update on app from key person on what activities and what food/drink they have had, plus a debrief in person regardless of
who hands her over at the end of the day. All nappies, sleep lengths, and accidents are fully logged (and we have to co-sign accident forms at pickup).
I particularly love the app stories and photos about development / new skills and they always verbally update on progress towards milestones etc too. We also get parents evenings with a one-to-one meeting with keyworker to get even more feedback and understand how us and the nursery can best support little one.
The staff have been fantastic at supporting our little one who has advanced language but slower physical skills, allowing her to always go at her own pace and feel comfortable.

A fantastic nursery with excellent staff. The care and attention our children have had has been fantastic and they have loved every minute of their time at the nursery. We cannot speak highly enough of the provision and recommend to all.

Due to a house move, we have had to leave Holly Bank and to be honest we are gutted. Our son absolutely loved going to nursery, and I loved the nursery too. All staff were helpful and friendly, I received daily updates of what my child had done that day. We had some family issues just before we left
and Holly Bank was really accommodating and flexible, which was so helpful for us in such stressful times.
The app that the nursery used allowed us as parents to access all information on his learning reports, how he was developing, any accidents that had occurred and pictures of his day.

Very pleased we picked Holly Bank Nursery, the team have showed a lot of care and are always happy to tell me about our little one's day details, they're all friendly and helpful and take on requests as well.


They do regular charity fundraising and seasonal events which keeps us parents engaged too.


Our baby has only been there a shortish time part time, yet we can already tell they care and know their individual needs and character.


The children do lots of different activities and explorations, including in the outdoor gardens and zones and we have taken home paintings, a biscuit (tasted sugar-free) and we enjoy reading the notes from each day at nursery and following the parent app.


If I email I always get a reply, we can phone in during the day to see how it's going. The security and safeguarding system is strong and reassuring too.


We can't wait to see what the next season's activities bring and how our baby develops with their support.

My daughter has been attending Holly Bank for about 6 months now, and she has come on leaps and bounds since attending! Her language skills, communication, interaction, independence and social skills have really developed over the last few months and I believe this is because she is very happy and settled
at the nursery. I have found staff to be very helpful, inviting and accommodating.
I am very happy with Holly Bank but most importantly my daughter is very happy here. And I am very happy with her progress. I would definitely recommend to other parents.

Job Title: Nursery Manager Joined: 2024

I began my childcare career in 1979 when I completed the NNEB at Thomas Danby College in Leeds. My career has been varied across the sector, starting as a Nursery Nurse working at St James Hospital on the maternity wards and special care baby unit. Then going on to work for the local authority progressing from Nursery officer to Deputy Manager. I then worked in Australia for just over 4 years still within in the childcare sector before returning to the UK. I first became a Nursery Manager in 1992 and have since gone on to successfully manage 6 different settings. In 2008 I went on to complete the BA Hons in Early Childhood studies at the University of Leeds.


Outside of work I am passionate about baking and am always on the lookout for a new recipe to try. I love to travel and have been fortunate to visit some amazing places around the world, but I also love exploring the UK too.


Just like you I want our children to be happy, settled and provided with exciting challenges to encourage their learning and development during this important period in their lives, building a respectful and trusting relationship with the children is my goal.
