We have had a great experience with Holly Bank for both our children. The staff are fantastic, really caring and professional. Lots of different and enriching activities and time for free play, and special interests are encouraged and nurtured. Both our children are developing very well (beyond our expectations) and are very happy and well adjusted. Management is very good as well, with good communication, plenty of opportunities for parent involvement and lots of new resources purchased recently for all the different age groups.

Our experience at Holly Bank has been spectacular. Sending our son there is one of the best decisions we've ever made for him. From the get go, all staff have been wonderful with him, and have also been extra supportive for us as parents. Our son struggled with weaning but the team in the baby room worked with us and now, he's doing brilliantly with his eating. Furthermore, every day he's there, we get great pictures and updates on how he's doing. His key worker is wonderful. We can see why Holly Bank is OFSTED Outstanding!!!

My son has attended Holly Bank Nursery for just over 2 years now, he loves going to nursery. The staff are great and are very helpful & understanding. My child has learnt so much and talks about his day at nursery and how involved he gets (helping a member of staff) in little jobs as it shows him good role model skills. I joined the Portland Nurseries team in March 2024, bringing with me 17 years of experience working in childcare across a variety of nursery settings, as well as managing a before- and after-school and holiday club. This has given me valuable experience working with children from birth through to 11 years old.
I was Manager at Harlequin from March 2024 to December 2025, before moving into my current role as Manager at Holly Bank from January 2025. Prior to joining Portland Nurseries, I worked as Deputy Manager of a large nursery and have also held roles as Lead SENDCO and Safeguarding Lead.
Since joining the Portland Group, I have really valued being part of an organisation that shares my belief in the importance of providing children with high-quality education, meaningful experiences and opportunities to learn, explore and develop. These are the same experiences and opportunities I wanted for my own son, which makes being part of Portland particularly special to me.Since starting my own family, I have gained an even greater understanding of the importance of the work we do as childcare professionals. Supporting children during their early years is incredibly rewarding, and I feel very privileged to be part of their development, learning and early experiences.
Outside of nursery, I love spending time with my family and tending to my allotment. Gardening is a real passion of mine, and I particularly enjoy bringing this interest into the nursery through activities and experiences for the children at Harlequin.
