The most amazing nursery! Helen Howes private day nursery continues to be outstanding in every area. As a parent of a little one that struggles to be away from mum, I can honestly say that my experience, and more importantly, my son's experience has been truly amazing! The staff and management are world
class! If you are looking for a nursery that offers more than just childcare look no further!

Both my children attend this nursery! My son is now nearly 4, he will be leaving in September, he will miss all the staff as he loves going, he has progressed so much since attending! My daughter has just turned one, she has only been there 4 months and she loves it. I travel 10 miles to get there!
I could put them near home but they are both happy there.

Our daughter has gone to Helen Howes PDN since she was about 8 months old. From day one it the team helped shape her into the lovely little girl she is today. We've never had a day where our daughter has not wanted to go, and she's made lots of friends there. The staff are all brilliant and our daughter
has a lot of love for a few! Nursery staff are like our daughter's second parents during the day and they do a damn good job. The Nursery fully deserves its outstanding Ofsted status and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to friends and family. Thanks!

A great nursery that provides attentive, imaginative care for children up to school age.
My eldest loved coming here (and attends the out of school club upstairs during the holidays!), my youngest is just moving into the pre-school room and is very excited!
They have also catered for various allergies
and dietary requirements -
I would highly recommend!

All our four grandchildren still attend Helen Howes Day Nurseries and Out Of School and Holiday Hub.
We can’t begin to express how much the team have done for all four of them, as well as the support they have shown to all our family. Our grandchildren are growing into confident, independent, happy
children, who are well-liked and achieve all their goals at school. We know that the management and the team at Helen Howes have played an integral role in their development, providing them with a warm and nurturing environment filled with fun and laughter. The out of school expansion has allowed our family to carry on working without disruption now for 11 years and we can’t thank them enough, they truly are an outstanding provision. The building has recently been undergoing a major refurbishment and is looking amazing, and the finishing touches are almost complete. Thank you to everyone at Helen Howes for all that you do for every child, we highly recommend this family run business.

My daughter loves going to nursery. The staff involved are always welcoming and my daughter doesn’t want to leave when we collect her which is a good sign. Even on the walk round they welcomed her in. It's so reassuring being able to leave her knowing she is settled and in the best care.

My little girl has gone to this nursery since she was 8 months old and she loves every second she is there. The staff are so loving and caring to all the children I couldn’t ask for anyone better to look after my little girl, she is so content with all the staff.

My son attended this wonderful nursery from the age of 7 months old up until he left for primary school. He loved every single minute and was so happy here. The staff love all the children so much, it shines through, and the love, care and patience they show the little ones is absolutely fantastic.
As a parent, it was wonderful to see my little boy so happy every day. He really bonded with the staff throughout his time here. A truly wonderful place.

We recently moved to the area and I was hoping this nursery would be appropriate for my son. I have not placed him in nursery up until finding the right provider for him. I was unhappy with nurseries in the area I moved from (which is however close to my new area!) and am very happy that I feel I have
now found a suitable environment in which he can have fun, explore and continue to learn.
Initially, he did not settle immediately but I believe this was due to us moving house/personal circumstances. Staff were extra helpful in helping him to settle and I would highly recommend this nursery.
Due to him not settling immediately I telephoned through the day, as most anxious mums do (!) but was never once made to feel that I was bothering anyone.
Mums are important in their child's nursery too as this can impact their trust, however, all staff I speak to at the nursery are communicative and helpful, especially my son's key worker who always has time to talk to me about my sons day.

Helen Howes nursery...... where do I start! My first child only started nursery at two and a half and I really didn't want her to go. All she had ever known was me her daddy and my mum! A few weeks passed and I can honestly say it was just like dropping her off at my mum's! The wrap around care is truly
amazing, the staff are so reassuring and nurturing! Now my eldest is at school my two-year-old girl just started and she can't wait to go and I feel just the same! It's so hard to find the right setting and I looked at many!!! This is a fantastic nursery!

Our child has been going to the nursery for over a year now. Before he started, he seemed to be struggling with development. Now he is flourishing! They have made it so easy for me to leave my child. I'm even hoping to send my second child when I return to work. I would highly recommend this nursery.

Helen Howes is a warm, friendly nurturing nursery which provides exceptional care and guidance. My little person is extremely happy there and has flourished over the past year. He thoroughly enjoys all of the activities, the provision and has built an amazing bond with his key workers and all staff.
Because the nursery is a small family run business the staff can take the time and care to really cherish each individual child. Staff always take on board feedback and do everything they can to improve where necessary for the good of each child.
Above anything my little person is happy and as a mum that's all that matters to me.
In addition with soaring child care costs, I would highly recommend this provision as being excellent value for money.

Current Review Score: 8.9 (8.902)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.9 (8.902) out of 10 for Helen Howes Private Day Nurseries is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.0 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.917 for Helen Howes Private Day Nurseries is calculated as follows: ( (67 Excellents x 5) + (4 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 72 Ratings = 4.917
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.985 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Helen Howes Private Day Nurseries is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 78 number of registered child places is 15.6. 6 Positive Reviews ÷ 15.6 = 0.385
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
