Evergreen Early Years - Ladyewell

I have worked in early years since graduating as a teacher in 2006. Before I had my son in 2011, I taught reception class and had the privilege of teaching many children to read and begin writing.

I have 3 children in their tween/teenage years. After having a little time out when my son was at pre-school, I came back to early years and worked in the management team at a couple of nurseries around the Lancaster and Morecambe area.

I joined Evergreen after recently working as an inspector in the early years sector, which I have done since 2020. I have also worked supporting children with additional needs.

In my spare time I love to sing and play music in a brass band as well as walking my dog Missy on the beach.

Hi, I’m Alison Astley. I am delighted to be part of the team here at Evergreen Early Years... knowing that a child’s love for learning starts with our youngest children has brought me here to Evergreen.

I am an Early Years Teacher at Evergreen and I lead on Pre-school, the curriculum and SEND. I have been a teacher for over 20 years and have a BA honours degree in English.

My passion is to support children to be confident and happy learners who develop language skills and curiosity through all that they do.

My loving husband loves long walks on the beach and in the woods with our two beautiful daughters and our dog Obi.

Hello, my name is Amy Bate. I studied at Cumbria University for 3 years and achieved a degree in working with children and families.

I have always wanted to work with children to ensure that they get the best possible start in life. I strive for the best and try very hard in every aspect of my job role.

My aim as a deputy manager is to provide all children with a happy and fulfilled learning experience and support others to do the same. I put 100% and more into ensuring all children at Evergreen achieve their full potential.

Hello, my name is Rachel Howlett. I am a senior practitioner at Evergreen.

I have a calm and caring nature and love working with children and helping them to learn and develop as individuals. I enjoy reading to the children and have fun using my storytelling skills where I make up imaginary stories, bringing these to life using a range of props and most importantly inviting the children to join in my story-time adventures.

I enjoy spending time with my family and friends and have a love for horses, having had riding lessons from an early age.

Hi, my name is Kirsty. I am a level 3 qualified nursery practitioner and a senior practitioner here at Evergreen.

I have always enjoyed working with children and enjoy helping them to learn and develop as individuals.

In my spare time, I like to spend time with my family and take my daughter on outings. We enjoy going swimming at the weekends, playing in the garden and we also like to explore new places. I also enjoy going on holidays with my family.

I have always had pets from a young age and now have a dog called Poppy and two rabbits called Pumpkin and Storm.

Hi, I am Laura and I have just joined the team as an Early Years Practitioner at Evergreen.

I have previously studied Health and Social Care and then went on to achieve my level 2 apprenticeship in Early Years.

Whilst raising my family, I have also started my own cleaning business.

I am kind and compassionate and have a passion for helping children play, create, interact and explore in a positive environment.

In my spare time, I love to read, socialise and spend quality time with my children.

Hello, my name is Suraya. I have the NNEB in Nursery Nursing. I have worked in lots of different nurseries through the years. I have 3 children of my own and love working with children. I am very much looking forward to getting to know all the children at Evergreen and am very excited to be part of the Evergreen team.

Hi, my name is Mohammed. I have a level 3 qualification in early years. I like to cook, read, play football and spend time with my family and friends.

I enjoy working with children. I am full of energy, and enthusiasm. I love to play sports and be outdoors with the children. I am very creative and enjoy drawing and doing craft projects.

I really like baking with the children and making a wide range of cakes, fruit treats and fresh bread.

Hi, my name is Holly and I’m an early years apprentice at Evergreen. I’m 17 years old and doing a level 3 in childcare education after doing a level 2 in hairdressing in college, my favourite colour is pink and my favourite thing to do is eat lots of food (especially chocolate), I like going to the gym and spending time with my family and friends.

Hello, my name is Sophie and I am the nursery cook. I hold a level 2 qualification in catering and hospitality but also have my level 3 childcare qualification. I am very excited to combine both roles together and get the children involved with meal times and baking. In my spare time, I enjoy spending it with my partner, family and friends. My favourite hobbies are going to the gym and going for walks.

My name is Sharon. I am an early years assistant here at Evergreen.

I am conscientious and reliable and have been in childcare for over 25 years. I have worked in a variety of settings including schools, small and large nurseries and childminding.

In my spare time, I like spending time with family and friends, going on holidays and taking my dog on long walks and relaxing.

My role here at Evergreen is to look after the settings, I clean, sort out all the rooms, the laundry and clothing. I re-set all the kitchen and bathroom areas, making sure the children have a safe and inviting environment at all times.
I also food shop for both settings, ensuring the children have meals made from a variety of fresh and healthy produce.

As an experienced practitioner I also supervise the children, interacting and engaging with them to support the team at busier times.

Hello, my name is Laura Davy and I am one of the managers here at Evergreen.

I have worked in the Early Years since 1997 so have many years of experience and hold a level 5 in childcare education leadership and management.

My role at Evergreen is to oversee the quality and consistency of the care and learning we provide for all our children across our 2 settings. This includes supporting our team to access learning and development opportunities to develop and enhance their practice. I also lead internal operations and support the nursery owner in wider nursery developments.

In my spare time, I love to read, cycle, spend time outdoors and crochet.
