Little Acorns boasts incredibly extensive gardens and outdoor areas, which truly set the nursery apart. As well as having different areas where they can play on a wide range of stimulating equipment, children can explore, discover, and learn in nature zones, sensory, water and sand play areas and many more. Through such a wide array of outdoor play opportunities, children can engage in both structured and free play, learn new skills, and feed their hungry minds.
Little Acorns caters for children aged from 3 months up to 5 years, also serving those with special educational needs and/or disabilities. It is open all year round apart from Christmas week and bank holidays. For the convenience of parents, the setting opens for unusually long hours compared to most others in the area from 7:30 am to 6:00 pm and families keep up to date with their child's day via a smartphone app. Government funded childcare schemes are supported, meaning eligible families can receive free childcare for children as young as 9 months.

This nursery is a really nice place which my son attends. My son is 2 years old, and since he started in September 2025 the staff have been nothing but welcoming and communicate with me about everything that has to do with my son and whilst the nursery. My son has come on amazing with his speech and all the staff meet my child's needs always. I am so proud of what my son has learnt since coming to this nursery and he has made so many new friends. I would definitely give this nursery 5 stars
My son is very happy to go into the setting in the mornings and always wants to go back to nursery it's definitely a good setting to be in. I would definitely recommend this nursery. So much for children to do there and the garden is so big and spaced out.

My toddler has been attending since December 2025 and he loves it here and is always excited to attend. The staff are caring and professional, always making sure our child feels safe and loved. The activities are engaging and help foster growth. The communication with parents is brill and we always feel well-informed. We couldn't ask for a better environment for our child. The nursery and back garden is very spacious as well which is great for playing. Thank you for everything. I highly recommend this nursery.

I couldn't be happier with this nursery. Since my son started attending, I have really noticed a big development in his speech and confidence. He comes home chatting more and seems to be learning new things every day, which is lovely to see as a parent. My son always seems so happy when he goes in and when I pick him up, which gives me a lot of reassurance that he feels comfortable and cared for there. The staff are all so nice, friendly and very understanding. They are always welcoming and take the time to speak with parents, which makes a big difference. You can really tell they care about the children and want the best for them.
I'm very grateful for everything they do and would highly recommend this nursery to other parents.

All the long standing and caring staff left in May 2025 following the owner and area manager putting unqualified staff in the rooms. Managers are denying this as the new staff had various qualifications, just nothing to do with childcare. Safeguarding concerns due to new staff not able to communicate effectively on the event of an emergency, Eg allergens. The nursery say they are open with communication and welcome parents to contact them, but they delete and block parents who raise a concern. They failed to share the new ofsted report (rated inadequate) and when parents asked, they were blocked from the social media page with their comments deleted. No transparency from management and beyond patronising in their responses to complaints/reviews. Back to blaming the former staff for parents experiences as its easier than them admit they were wrong and put children in a dangerous position.
The new area manager put fees up TWICE in 2025 with nothing extra despite promising new activities.

Firstly, we want to clarify that any changes to our staffing earlier this year were made with careful consideration, in line with regulatory standards and always with the wellbeing and safety of children as our highest priority. While some long-standing staff members did move on for personal and professional reasons, we have recruited team members with a range of qualifications and experiences. All staff undergo thorough vetting, safeguarding training, and induction before taking responsibility for any group of children. Regarding your mention of safeguarding concerns and communication in emergency situations, we take these issues very seriously. We have strict procedures in place for managing medical needs, including allergens, and all staff are trained accordingly. On the topic of communication: we aim to foster open, respectful dialogue with all families. We only restrict or remove comments on our social platforms in cases where they contain misinformation, breach privacy, or violate our community guidelines. It’s never our intention to silence feedback, and we welcome honest conversations — provided they remain respectful to our staff and other families. We understand concerns around the Ofsted report and recognise that it has prompted questions. We have since taken comprehensive action to address the points raised and are working closely with Ofsted and the local authority to meet and exceed all required standards. We remain committed to continuous improvement.
With regard to fees: increases are only made after a detailed review of rising operational costs, and we do strive to invest those funds into resources, staff training, and experiences for the children.

DONT SEND YOUR CHILDREN HERE!!!! This used to be, by far, the best nursery you could go to, since the new owners took over and put a new area manager in place it has become horrendous. All the longstanding staff have had to leave in order to safeguard our children, as the area manager and owner were pushing for unqualified staff to be left unsupervised with our children. Our SEN child is now regressing due to such extreme change in routine and has left him struggling
Any communication with the area manager and owner has been awful and they've laughed at parents and staffs concerns. We've been ignored and patronised, including with how the new unqualified staff have limited communication skills to be able to communicate with children and parents, especially around medication, allergies, accidents and emergencies. Currently they have ignored every email to myself and other parents, still with no explanation of what happened and how they were supposed to rectify these safeguarding issue.

All our staff, including recent hires, are recruited and deployed in accordance with Ofsted requirements and relevant safeguarding legislation. At no point have unqualified staff been left unsupervised with children. Any suggestion otherwise is simply untrue. We are aware that changes within the nursery can be unsettling, particularly for children with additional needs, and we are working closely with families during this transition period. We also take communication with parents seriously and are always open to constructive dialogue. We are sorry if you feel your concerns have not been adequately addressed — this is certainly not the experience we strive to offer any family.

We was very nervous parents sending our child into a nursery but we had such a positive experience on our walk around and settling in session with the ladies that previously worked there. We was made to feel welcome and our anxiety was reduced as first time parents. My little girl settled quickly and created a lovely bond with her keyworker! Then one day while at work I was getting repeated notifications from the nursery app about staff leaving all in one day?! Concerning for any parent I would say and who wouldn't have questions? There was no explanation behind these resignations other than management/owner issues. Area manager was questioned as to what was happening but she buried her head in the sand and ignored all our concerns. We pulled our daughter out & have seen the recent ofsted inspection at nursery with new staff that is rated inadequate & that staff basically do not acknowledging children when they try to interact but would rather chat amongst themselves and wonder around

We're pleased to hear that your initial experience was positive and that your daughter bonded well with her keyworker. We also acknowledge that recent changes in staffing may have been unsettling, and we regret any distress this may have caused. Like many early years settings across the UK, we have faced staffing challenges and organisational changes. While these transitions were managed in line with appropriate procedures, we understand the concerns raised by sudden notifications and take responsibility for ensuring clearer communication during such times. That said, we must respectfully clarify that any claims regarding staff neglecting children or avoiding interaction are taken very seriously and do not reflect the standards we uphold. Our team continues to be committed and focused on children's safety and wellbeing.
Regarding the recent Ofsted inspection, we are fully aware of the outcome and are actively addressing all points raised in the report. We are already implementing a comprehensive action plan to restore confidence and bring the nursery back to the high standards we are known for.

In the space of 3 days we had been informed most of the staff was leaving with no other job to go too being forced out by the area manager. This was due to how it was being ran by the area manager and wanting to bring in people who arent qualified or speak/read our language to look after our children. When confronting the area manager who ignored all the parents on the app she laughed and blamed the staff, some who have been there over 10 years. We was given no option to pull out our child. The ratios the management was happy to leave the children in is unsafe and illegal ,as they wouldn't tell OFSTED or parents who was actually working to look after the children.

We are pleased to hear that your son has received positive support from our team over the past 16 months, and it’s always been our aim to provide him—and all children—with the highest standard of care, tailored to their individual needs. However, we are very concerned by the allegations in your review. We would like to state clearly that we do not “force out” staff or make employment decisions based on personal bias. Any staff changes are made in line with internal HR procedures, with a focus on maintaining a strong, qualified, and safe environment for the children. All team members, including new staff, are appropriately vetted, trained, and qualified to be working within our setting—and all meet the requirements laid out by Ofsted and the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework. Your comments regarding safeguarding, allergies, and child-to-staff ratios are particularly serious. We want to be absolutely clear: we operate strictly within the legal ratio requirements at all times and under no circumstances would we place children in an unsafe or illegal staffing situation. These matters are subject to both internal audits and external regulation, and we are confident in the compliance of our practices. Any suggestion that we are attempting to conceal staffing information or mislead Ofsted is categorically untrue and deeply misrepresents the standards we uphold. Shocking experience - avoid this nursery.
I pulled my son out with immediate effect due to serious safeguarding concerns. All trusted staff handed in their notice after unqualified individuals-some without DBS checks and little to no English-were allowed to work in the setting. When parents raised questions, we were met with vague or no answers. After withdrawing my son, I received no communication-just removed from the app with no word from the area manager or owner. The positive reviews reflect staff who have now left to protect the children. A recent visit showed only one unqualified staff member left alone with children-completely unacceptable. This nursery has become unsafe, unprofessional, and poorly managed. It should not be operating under these conditions. For the safety of your children, I strongly urge you to stay away.

The positive reviews for this nursery (pre May 2025) are a reflection of the staff that all left at the end of May. This used to be the best nursery in the area with month long waiting lists. Unfortunately, all the longstanding, caring and wonderful staff left at the end of May. The management of this setting is beyond a joke and allows unqualified members of staff into the nursery without informing the parents of the change. When safeguarding concerns were raised, these were brushed off. Parents were not introduced to the new staff or even aware of who would be coming in. A post on the nursery app from a new worker was the first introduction parents got and it was asking for pictures of the kids/parents. Almost 40 children were pulled out of this nursery at the end of May due to the safeguarding concerns.
The positive reviews are about the staff that have now all left - please remember that.

We are aware that a number of longstanding staff left, and we acknowledge the trust and relationships they built with many families over time. Their departure has understandably raised concerns, and we are working hard to rebuild that trust and ensure continuity of care during this transition period. Please be assured that all new staff members undergo enhanced DBS checks and safeguarding training before working with children. While qualifications and experience levels may vary, no staff member is ever left unsupervised until they are fully vetted and supported in line with Ofsted regulations. That said, we take seriously your concern about how these changes were communicated.

My little girl has been going to this nursery since 9 months of age. She's now 3! and I would take her nowhere else I'll be gutted when she has to go to school and eventually leave. The girls are so welcoming her key workers she's had throughout are amazing and overall staff. My child knows everyone who works there as they all work as a team each member in each room so it makes it so much easier for transition. This is what I liked most about the nursery as my child's feelings mean more than anything else! It's home from home for my little girl! The manager is so accommodating and will help as much as she can when help is needed. I would highly recommend any mother and child this nursery! Keep up what you guys are doing you are all a dream.

My child comes home every day telling us about staff and other children and it's just so sweet to hear about how good of a day she has had! Never even thought about changing nursery! The staff are amazing and are so helpful whenever it's needed!

Little Acorns Hindley is an amazing nursery. As a mother of an autistic little boy who attends this nursery, I can say they go above and beyond, keeping us up to date on everything my child does and even helping him hit milestones we ourselves have struggled to help him achieve. All the staff are so lovely and our little boy has an amazing relationship with each of them, my only wish is I would have started him there sooner, grateful to all the staff.

I wholeheartedly recommend this nursery. My little boy has loved his three years here, building loving and nurturing relationships with staff and the other children. He has learned so much and astounds us every day with the level of vocabulary and concepts he understands. Communication has been fantastic all through his time here. A truly family feel permeates the whole setting and I know I'm leaving my little one in good hands.

My little girl started nursery here not long ago and I was worried that she wouldn't settle very well however I was so wrong, all of the staff at Little Acorns are amazing and have given me so much reassurance. All of the staff are so nurturing and supportive and they provide my daughter with so much care, attention and positivity. My daughter now cannot wait to get out of the car to get into nursery which speaks volumes. Within weeks of my daughter starting at Little Acorns she has come on so much, her speech is improving and she is learning new things every day, coming home and telling me what she has been up to at nursery. The nursery has a huge outdoor area which is perfect as my daughter loves the outdoors. I feel so lucky to have found a nursery with such a wonderful and happy environment for my daughter. My youngest daughter starts in a few weeks and I know she is going to be just fine here. Thank you to all the staff for looking after my girls I will be forever grateful.
