Please do not make the same mistake we did, my little boy may not remember much of his experience here but I will always regret having chosen this nursery.
During our 2.5 years at Little Acorns, there have been numerous changes in management and an extremely high staff turnover, resulting in poor
practice, unqualified and inexperienced staff brought in to fill gaps, and unqualified staff members forced into management positions. The website promises "award winning childcare", which may have been the case a number of years ago but certainly is not any more. The setting is poorly resourced, often dirty and cluttered, and concerns are completely ignored. Childrens' development is poorly recorded, and they are often sent home soiled and dirty. Please research other reviews, I will not reference other's experiences.
We made the choice to remove our child due to our poor experience, and after 2.5 years he left today to go to a different pre-school. He did not even receive a goodbye card.

We're sorry to hear you left feeling dissatisfied, especially as these concerns weren't raised with us during your time here. We value open communication and regret not having the chance to discuss this directly. It's concerning to see serious claims shared publicly, some of which are misleading. Like many settings, we faced staffing challenges in recent years, but we now have a highly experienced Manager and a fully staffed team, operating within legal ratios and without agency reliance. Our fees are in line with local nurseries offering similar care. We hold a 'Good' Ofsted rating, with praise for safeguarding and child development. We continually invest in staff training and resources. While farewell cards haven't been standard, we appreciate the feedback and will be introducing a gesture for children moving on. We remain committed to high-quality care and invite parents with concerns to speak to us directly.

We have had countless poor experiences including things such as; multiple changes in management that have left us as parents extremely concerned; multiple concerns around potential safeguarding issues; extremely poor communication from the area manager including the feeling of being lied to; upsetting
concerns regarding my daughters happiness and wellbeing whilst on site. Specific examples of some of these things include, my daughter being left alone in a room so staff could answer the front door, staff not knowing where my daughter was when parent arrived to collect, my daughter being left without a key worker, my daughter having daily access to an iPad where she watched things such as an animated cartoon tv series, massive increase in accidents, often very poor first aid response, my concern that appropriate comfort not always offered after hurting herself, appropriate information about my daughters allergen not being kept on file. Please also see review on another review platform.

Thank you for your feedback. We're sorry your experience didn't meet expectations, especially as your initial rating was so positive. Safeguarding and children's well being are our top priorities. Please be assured all concerns raised were fully investigated by Ofsted, who are completely satisfied with our practices. We acknowledge there have been changes in management over the past year, and understand this may have been unsettling. We're committed to consistent leadership and clear communication moving forward. Ongoing investment in staff development and children's resources ensures a safe, nurturing environment and our team remains dedicated to listening, learning, and improving to offer the best possible care for all children in our nursery. We wish your daughter every success and happiness in her new setting.

All the long standing and caring staff left in May 2025 following the owner and area manager putting unqualified staff in the rooms. Managers are denying this as the new staff had various qualifications, just nothing to do with childcare.
Safeguarding concerns due to new staff not able to communicate
effectively on the event of an emergency, Eg allergens.
The nursery say they are open with communication and welcome parents to contact them, but they delete and block parents who raise a concern. They failed to share the new ofsted report (rated inadequate) and when parents asked, they were blocked from the social media page with their comments deleted.
No transparency from management and beyond patronising in their responses to complaints/reviews. Back to blaming the former staff for parents experiences as its easier than them admit they were wrong and put children in a dangerous position.
The new area manager put fees up TWICE in 2025 with nothing extra despite promising new activities.
Reply from Nursery Manager at Little Acorns Nursery, Hindley Green

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re genuinely sorry to hear that you’ve had such a negative experience, and we’d like to address your concerns directly and transparently.
Firstly, we want to clarify that any changes to our staffing earlier this year were made with careful consideration, in line with regulatory standards and always with the wellbeing and safety of children as our highest priority. While some long-standing staff members did move on for personal and professional reasons, we have recruited team members with a range of qualifications and experiences. All staff undergo thorough vetting, safeguarding training, and induction before taking responsibility for any group of children.
Regarding your mention of safeguarding concerns and communication in emergency situations, we take these issues very seriously. We have strict procedures in place for managing medical needs, including allergens, and all staff are trained accordingly.
On the topic of communication: we aim to foster open, respectful dialogue with all families. We only restrict or remove comments on our social platforms in cases where they contain misinformation, breach privacy, or violate our community guidelines. It’s never our intention to silence feedback, and we welcome honest conversations — provided they remain respectful to our staff and other families.
We understand concerns around the Ofsted report and recognise that it has prompted questions. We have since taken comprehensive action to address the points raised and are working closely with Ofsted and the local authority to meet and exceed all required standards. We remain committed to continuous improvement.
With regard to fees: increases are only made after a detailed review of rising operational costs, and we do strive to invest those funds into resources, staff training, and experiences for the children.

DONT SEND YOUR CHILDREN HERE!!!! This used to be, by far, the best nursery you could go to, since the new owners took over and put a new area manager in place it has become horrendous. All the longstanding staff have had to leave in order to safeguard our children, as the area manager and owner were
pushing for unqualified staff to be left unsupervised with our children.
Our SEN child is now regressing due to such extreme change in routine and has left him struggling
Any communication with the area manager and owner has been awful and they've laughed at parents and staffs concerns. We've been ignored and patronised, including with how the new unqualified staff have limited communication skills to be able to communicate with children and parents, especially around medication, allergies, accidents and emergencies. Currently they have ignored every email to myself and other parents, still with no explanation of what happened and how they were supposed to rectify these safeguarding issue.
Reply from Little Acorns Hindley Green Team, Nursery manager at Little Acorns Nursery, Hindley Green

We are genuinely sorry to hear your concerns and acknowledge how upsetting this situation must feel for you. However, we strongly refute several serious inaccuracies in your review.
First and foremost, the safety, wellbeing, and development of every child in our care — including those with additional needs — remain our highest priority. All our staff, including recent hires, are recruited and deployed in accordance with Ofsted requirements and relevant safeguarding legislation. At no point have unqualified staff been left unsupervised with children. Any suggestion otherwise is simply untrue.
We are aware that changes within the nursery can be unsettling, particularly for children with additional needs, and we are working closely with families during this transition period. We also take communication with parents seriously and are always open to constructive dialogue. We are sorry if you feel your concerns have not been adequately addressed — this is certainly not the experience we strive to offer any family.
We invite you to contact us directly so we can respond to your individual concerns with the care and attention they deserve. Safeguarding, transparency, and trust are non-negotiable values at our setting, and we are committed to continually upholding them.

We was very nervous parents sending our child into a nursery but we had such a positive experience on our walk around and settling in session with the ladies that previously worked there. We was made to feel welcome and our anxiety was reduced as first time parents. My little girl settled quickly and
created a lovely bond with her keyworker! Then one day while at work I was getting repeated notifications from the nursery app about staff leaving all in one day?! Concerning for any parent I would say and who wouldn't have questions? There was no explanation behind these resignations other than management/owner issues. Area manager was questioned as to what was happening but she buried her head in the sand and ignored all our concerns. We pulled our daughter out & have seen the recent ofsted inspection at nursery with new staff that is rated inadequate & that staff basically do not acknowledging children when they try to interact but would rather chat amongst themselves and wonder around
Reply from Little Acorns Hindley Green Team, Nursery manager at Little Acorns Nursery, Hindley Green

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience — we understand how important it is for parents to feel confident and secure when choosing a nursery for their child. We're pleased to hear that your initial experience was positive and that your daughter bonded well with her keyworker.
We also acknowledge that recent changes in staffing may have been unsettling, and we regret any distress this may have caused. Like many early years settings across the UK, we have faced staffing challenges and organisational changes. While these transitions were managed in line with appropriate procedures, we understand the concerns raised by sudden notifications and take responsibility for ensuring clearer communication during such times.
That said, we must respectfully clarify that any claims regarding staff neglecting children or avoiding interaction are taken very seriously and do not reflect the standards we uphold. Our team continues to be committed and focused on children's safety and wellbeing.
Regarding the recent Ofsted inspection, we are fully aware of the outcome and are actively addressing all points raised in the report. We are already implementing a comprehensive action plan to restore confidence and bring the nursery back to the high standards we are known for.

The positive reviews for this nursery (pre May 2025) are a reflection of the staff that all left at the end of May.
This used to be the best nursery in the area with month long waiting lists.
Unfortunately, all the longstanding, caring and wonderful staff left at the end of May. The management of
this setting is beyond a joke and allows unqualified members of staff into the nursery without informing the parents of the change. When safeguarding concerns were raised, these were brushed off.
Parents were not introduced to the new staff or even aware of who would be coming in. A post on the nursery app from a new worker was the first introduction parents got and it was asking for pictures of the kids/parents.
Almost 40 children were pulled out of this nursery at the end of May due to the safeguarding concerns.
The positive reviews are about the staff that have now all left - please remember that.
Reply from Little Acorns Hindley Green Team, Nursery Manager at Little Acorns Nursery, Hindley Green

Thank you for your feedback. We truly regret that your recent experience with our nursery has led to disappointment and concern, particularly after your previously positive impressions.
We are aware that a number of longstanding staff left, and we acknowledge the trust and relationships they built with many families over time. Their departure has understandably raised concerns, and we are working hard to rebuild that trust and ensure continuity of care during this transition period.
Please be assured that all new staff members undergo enhanced DBS checks and safeguarding training before working with children. While qualifications and experience levels may vary, no staff member is ever left unsupervised until they are fully vetted and supported in line with Ofsted regulations. That said, we take seriously your concern about how these changes were communicated.
We recognise that better communication was needed to keep families informed and reassured during this time. Your comments about the lack of proper introductions will be reviewed and reflected upon to help us grow.

Shocking experience - avoid this nursery.
I pulled my son out with immediate effect due to serious safeguarding concerns. All trusted staff handed in their notice after unqualified individuals-some without DBS checks and little to no English-were allowed to work in the setting. When parents raised
questions, we were met with vague or no answers. After withdrawing my son, I received no communication-just removed from the app with no word from the area manager or owner. The positive reviews reflect staff who have now left to protect the children. A recent visit showed only one unqualified staff member left alone with children-completely unacceptable. This nursery has become unsafe, unprofessional, and poorly managed. It should not be operating under these conditions. For the safety of your children, I strongly urge you to stay away.
Reply from Little Acorns Hindley Green Team, Nursery Manager at Little Acorns Nursery, Hindley Green

Thank you for taking the time to share your concerns. We are deeply sorry to hear that your experience with our nursery led you to feel such a serious level of concern and disappointment.
We want to assure you and all families that the safety, security, and well-being of every child in our care is our absolute priority. All staff—regardless of their experience level—are required to undergo enhanced DBS checks and safeguarding training prior to working in our settings.
We understand that transitions within our team have caused concern among some parents. While change can be difficult, we are committed to ensuring continuity of care and upholding high standards through regular training, supervision, and compliance with all Ofsted and EYFS regulations.
We’re also very sorry if you felt ignored or unsupported after your son’s withdrawal. That is not the level of communication or care we aim to provide, and we will be reviewing our procedures to ensure all families are treated with respect and professionalism—especially during times of concern or transition.
Thank you again for your feedback—it helps us to reflect, grow, and remain accountable.

Our little boy has been with the Nursery for around 16 months hes very energetic and is going through diagnosis for ADHD , the staff with him have been so wonderful caring for him, we wanted our 2 year old daughter to come in and join him.
In the space of 3 days we had been informed most of the staff
was leaving with no other job to go too being forced out by the area manager. This was due to how it was being ran by the area manager and wanting to bring in people who arent qualified or speak/read our language to look after our children. My partner has a life threating allergy that would not be able to safe guarded from
When confronting the area manager who ignored all the parents on the app she laughed and blamed the staff, some who have been there over 10 years. We was given no option to pull out our child. The ratios the management was happy to leave the children in is unsafe and illegal ,as they wouldn't tell OFSTED or parents who was actually working to look after the children.
Reply from Little Acorns Hindley Green Team, Nursery Manager at Little Acorns Nursery, Hindley Green

Thank you for your feedback. We take all concerns from parents extremely seriously, especially those relating to the care, safety, and wellbeing of the children in our setting.
We are pleased to hear that your son has received positive support from our team over the past 16 months, and it’s always been our aim to provide him—and all children—with the highest standard of care, tailored to their individual needs.
However, we are very concerned by the allegations in your review. We would like to state clearly that we do not “force out” staff or make employment decisions based on personal bias. Any staff changes are made in line with internal HR procedures, with a focus on maintaining a strong, qualified, and safe environment for the children. All team members, including new staff, are appropriately vetted, trained, and qualified to be working within our setting—and all meet the requirements laid out by Ofsted and the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.
Your comments regarding safeguarding, allergies, and child-to-staff ratios are particularly serious. We want to be absolutely clear: we operate strictly within the legal ratio requirements at all times and under no circumstances would we place children in an unsafe or illegal staffing situation. These matters are subject to both internal audits and external regulation, and we are confident in the compliance of our practices. Any suggestion that we are attempting to conceal staffing information or mislead Ofsted is categorically untrue and deeply misrepresents the standards we uphold.
It is also disappointing to hear your experience of communication with management. We acknowledge that communication can always be improved, especially during times of change. However, we will not tolerate false or defamatory statements about the conduct of individual staff members. If a parent has a concern, we encourage direct engagement through the appropriate channels so it can be dealt with constructively.
We remain committed to the safety, care, and development of every child in our setting. Should you wish to discuss your concerns further in person or in writing, we are more than willing to meet with you directly.

Little acorns nursery is a lovely nursery, our son was quite a shy baby but since being at the nursery he has come along so much the staff are amazing with the children, nothing is too much trouble, we get regular updates throughout the day of how he is, activities he's doing, and he always has so much
fun at nursery, if we ever need to contact the nursery for anything it's never an issue, we are always made to feel welcome, the children are served a variety of home cooked meals which our son always seems to enjoy everyday and offer a very well balanced diet, there are always activities going on in the nursery, as well as trips out in the local area exploring the surroundings of the nursery, the staff are so friendly and management are always there to answer any questions we may have, there is a beautiful outside space that the children are able to enjoy daily whilst at nursery, and the opportunity of lots of different activities each day

IMPRESSIVE! Wow just where to begin about this amazing nursery, from the initial telephone conversation to being on day two of my little boys settling in sessions. I had encountered a bad experience from a previous nursery where they been trying to settle my boy every day for a month, here at Little
Acorns in Padiham settled him on day 1!I had the pleasure of the manager showing myself and my little boy around and she went through everything to do with development and the day to day routine that is followed by them.It was a very warm welcome from everyone and introduced my little boy to the other children which was really nice, they ensured that they included the children which is fantastic and good for development! He's had two days of settling in, which he's had lots of playtime, enjoying his food and nap times! He has made a best friend who is his key worker. They send you daily updates via pictures on an app. I highly recommend coming to this nursery no questions asked,10/10!

My son has been attending Little Acorns Nursery since January 2024. He is so happy and settled at nursery - he just waves me off and goes to play with his friends. He is currently in baby room. It's so reassuring to know that he is clearly very comfortable with staff. Staff are always happy and friendly
and always willing to help or listen to any concerns or queries you have. Regular parents evenings means we can stay on top of any targets.
My 2 older children were also cared for by many of the staff that work in this setting. I would not go anywhere else for my childcare! It's like home from home.

My daughter attends Little Acorns Nursery, and from the get go after looking around several nurseries, I knew this was the one we were going to choose. The staff seem to really connect with the children rather than seeing them as just a job, they seem to care a lot about the children's well being and
are constantly on the ball, I've never ever had a problem or had a reason to raise any concerns with how I feel my daughter is being treated. Over the moon on a weekly basis feeling like my daughter is in safe hands, and makes me feel relieved knowing that she receives the same kind of care, attention and warmth that she receives with me at home, best nursery ever.

Absolutely amazing nursery, my little boy has been attending since he was 1, he is 2 and a half now. The staff are all lovely, kind and caring. The manager goes above and beyond for the children, if you ever need anything she sorts it out straight away! Shout out to the member of staff in the toddler
room who has been amazing to my child since he moved into the toddler room, she has a lovely relationship with him and he loves going to nursery. The member of staff always helps him feel involved in all activities and he loves having cuddles with her in the morning before breakfast. They have all supported his struggles with speech and language and always provide detailed reports of how his day has been. Shout out to another member of staff in the baby room as well who he started his nursery journey with, he settled so quickly into going to nursery and playing with others because of her supportive and kind nature. The food choice is brilliant and love that they take the kids out on adventures around Padiham! 5 stars as always girls!

Having a child with SEN has not fazed this nursery at all.
The manager and the team have excelled in getting everything my child needs, nothing is too much trouble and I couldn't ask for more. All activities are made accessible to my child and are tailored to her individual needs. My child's key worker
shows so much love and support towards her. There are lots of additional activities on offer such as baby ballet, drama and swimming lessons. I 100% recommend this nursery to everyone and anyone. It is so nice to see my child happy to come into nursery and see all the amazing staff.

Thank you for your lovely review! I know your child loves to take part in extracurricular activities such as drama and baby ballet. It has been wonderful to see you little girl come on leap and bounds!

My son has attended Little Acorns Nursery, Padiham since he was 18 months old and will be leaving for school this September.
I will be deeply saddened when he has to leave, all the staff are amazing, I never have a worry with how he is as I trust them 100%. In the short time the nursery manager has
been in charge she's constantly trying to move forward with new projects to better everything with the children's best interests at heart. If I had another child (which I'm not) I wouldn't want to place them anywhere else.

Thank you for such kind words and how supportive you have been. I will be really sad when he leaves to go to school.

Me and my partner sent our child to gain social skills and help his speech. When he started he could only say a few words, now he can string sentences together and plays happily with the other children in his room.
He is my first child so sending him to nursery as a first-time mum I was so scared and
worried about everything but the staff are amazing, they are so comforting and welcoming towards me and my child, if there is ever a problem they ring straight away and let you know exactly what's going on with your child.
They are an amazing nursery with all the safety and facilities any mum would want for their child. Overall my child loves going and I love how they have helped him grow with his speech and confidence and with his continuous growing.

Thank you for such kind words. Communication and language is such a huge part of our curriculum and I am so glad you are seeing as much progress as we are with your child.

My son currently attends this nursery and absolutely adores it and the staff. They're all so helpful and caring and love and look after my baby as I would, so I can work. He's my first child so it's always hard to leave but not here, he's happy and thriving! Can't recommend or thank the girls at Little
Acorns enough!
