I can't rate Woodlands Day Nursery highly enough. My, now, 14 month old daughter started at Woodlands when I was returning to work - an anxiety-filled, vulnerable, transitional period of time for the family. From the off, the professional, knowledgeable, warm, and kind-hearted practitioners put both myself and my daughter at ease. My daughter really enjoys her time with the Woodlands team, and adores her keyworkers, so I feel relaxed and comfortable leaving her with them, knowing she will be having a fun and educational time outside of her home. The team encourage my little one to 'get stuck in' with messy play (indoors, and outdoors), and have tried to get to know her as an individual to try to maximise the enjoyment she takes from activities.
My son has been at Woodlands for just under 6 months and we have been nothing but happy with the nursery, the staff went above and beyond to settle him in to his new setting so quickly and make sure I was always comfortable when trying to settle him in. We are always kept up to date and well informed about what he has been up to each week with the weekly updates. You can really see the genuine care and compassion for each child during pick-up and drop-offs. The manager and the team do a fantastic job day in and day out, any child is lucky to be able to get a place within Woodlands!
The nursery staff have been very welcoming and my son has settled in so well. He has made excellent progress in the last year and is so happy at nursery. He is always being encouraged to develop his skills and it is being shown at home. The fact that he eats several portions of his meals which are made on-site on a daily basis is a bonus! Really pleased with our first year at the nursery, would recommend it!
Woodlands Day Nursery is a fantastic setting, my daughter loves going to nursery there. The staff are passionate about caring for children, they offer a wide range of activities to stimulate and further the children's development and build strong relationships to support the children to feel settled and confident whilst in their care. Since visiting the nursery as a prospective parent for my little girl I have found the communication great, the management team were very helpful with our initial questions and the settling-in process was very smooth and I felt confident when she started. I feel well-informed about her day from the staff in her room and love the updates we receive on the app. A worry I had when she started was meal times as she can be fussy at home but she loves the food there and eats really well, thankfully.
- Assistance in helping daughter adjust to napping at the nursery, which was initially a bit challenging. I also greatly appreciate the updates regarding any issues and the team's willingness to consult with me on how best to handle them (e.g., whether it's too late for a nap, adjusting sleep duration, etc.).
- The attentiveness and care provided whenever I call to check on her, particularly when she's going through something difficult. The team has always been kind, offering all the necessary details and updates to ensure my daughter's well-being. I also value the reassurance that I can call whenever I feel the need to check on her.
- The team's responsiveness to our requests, whether it's about managing tantrums, setting boundaries.
All the staff - are so professional, caring and above all happy when we arrive and pick her up. They demonstrate on a consistent basis the qualities you would expect from childcare providers, always enthusiastic in their approach and communicating on a constant basis with regard to our child's welfare.
We would not hesitate to recommend Woodlands Day Nursery.
Thank you team.
My daughter started at Woodlands Nursery in April 2024, I was anxious about putting her in a nursery as she struggles with separation anxiety, after looking around numerous nurseries, I decided on Woodlands as I loved the atmosphere, there was a high level of cleanliness and staff were welcoming and friendly. The nursery manager has been extremely helpful with the whole process of starting nursery and all staff have helped to nurture and settle my daughter in. She now loves it, and I couldn't be more grateful to all the staff for everything they've done.
My little boy went here just for a few months to get him used to not being with us - ready for reception - we looked round the nursery and he hid behind me and was tearful. For the first visit he was lying on the floor hiding / being very shy. Well - Now you wouldn't believe he was the same child! The effort the girls in owls have made with him has been amazing. Especially three staff members in particular. I can't thank them enough - and all the staff at the nursery for taking such incredible care of my little boy. They have been nothing but caring / loving and so supportive to our family. He no longer hides anymore when people come to the house and will talk to anybody more confidently when we're out. The time, effort and patience the staff have taken with him is so appreciated! I'm secretly so happy he has a baby sister - so I can send her there too! And I hope all the same staff will be there to take care of her. I honestly can't thank Woodlands enough.
Also, the teachers are so kind and professional.
I am planning to send my young kid there also.
Unfortunately, there were problems with Woodlands from start to finish: false promises, high pricing, misinformation, poor internal communication, and inadequate updates on term times. We were initially told meals would cost £6.00 per day, but the first invoice showed £19.00 per day, covering only one meal and a snack. This lack of communication extended to term times, where we were misinformed about holiday schedules, causing us to rearrange plans last minute. Despite giving over a month's notice before leaving, we were still told we might owe a fee due to further miscommunication. The nursery seemed more focused on money than children's welfare or parents' peace of mind. Although some staff, like our daughter's key worker, were lovely, the overall experience was marred by poor communication and a lack of empathy for working parents. I hope future improvements address these issues, although they remained unresolved during our time there.
We are sorry that you had a frustrating experience. Regarding price and communication, childcare funding covers the education element of each session. Additional costs are for meals, extracurricular activities and resources to enhance learning. Whilst we typically offer year-round places, we...
We chose Woodlands Day Nursery after viewing multiple nurseries in the area, we knew straight away Woodlands was the nursery for our little girl when we stepped in and it had a home-from-home feeling. The staff were welcoming and the children were happy and engaged in their environments. Our little girl is thriving at Woodlands and has gone from strength to strength in her development. She comes home daily so excited to tell us about her day and always loves to recite her carpet time storybook to us. Thank you Woodlands for giving her the tools she needs to thrive and giving her a thirst for learning!
Staff incredibly caring and professional. Garden is huge and outdoor play is a big focus.
My daughter has come on leaps and bounds in the 2 years she has been at Woodlands. Can’t recommend them highly enough.
Amazing nursery for so many reasons. My son settled in really quickly and adapted to nursery life within a few sessions. All the staff are wonderful with the children. I was so impressed with the outdoor facility’s and the homely feel the nursery has.
Staff are amazing. We had gentle settling sessions over a few days when my two kids first started, they were relaxed with nap times at the start and gently adjusted it to match the rest of the room. The app was used to update parents about kids' activities, eg: filming my eldest walking for the first time in nursery, they were so excited about it. The kids loved their food and they’ve won awards for it.
They are experienced with potty training, their approach is to start when a child is ready rather than getting them trained by a set age. They do expose kids to toilet training at toddler room.
Preschool’s amazing, the staff get on so well with the kids... my daughter really thrived there. The preschool teacher was enthusiastic and will update parents about the kids' progress via the app. They also did a fabulous job in preparing the kids for reception, my daughter who normally struggles with changes transitioned really well.
Staff are very accommodating and caring towards children and parents. Good routines for meals and nap times. Work well with parents in toilet training or any routine/lifestyle changes for the child. My child has always enjoyed their time here!
Our daughter had specific dietary requirements for one year which were always accommodated, there is plenty of outdoor space which is so important, overall a great nursery.
I would recommend it to everyone I know!
It is a little pricier than what our friends pay, but looking into the details it looks like we do pay more for more services overall, there is definitely a reason for it.
All activities are tailored to suit my daughter's needs and interests, we receive weekly observations, and the nursery is very informative of everything going on!
Very happy parents!
My son went to nursery at 2 and a half years old and settled in approximately just over a month. I saw him progress little by little and become more and more happy in the nursery. I am very happy about the nursery because firstly I think they have very good management and teamwork, for example, their carers system that not only the main carer gets familiar with my son but other carers also do. Secondly, the cleanliness of the nursery is great. I expected my son would get sick very often for his first few months but actually, he is not. The carers look after him really well. I am very thankful for the team and I am so glad that I chose Woodlands Day Nursery & Nursery School for my son.
Two of my grandchildren have attended this nursery. One of them is currently. Both were happy, looked forward to attending and learnt so much from their time spent there. All the staff are fantastic. I feel they are enthusiastic and provide the children with stimulation and encouragement. They are all caring and considerate and my grandchildren have spoken about them at home. There are lots of activities going on within the nursery for the children to engage in, both indoor and outdoors. It's spotlessly clean and healthy nutritious food is provided also. All the staff are absolutely amazing including the manager who is very helpful with the behind-the-scenes running of the place. Nothing is too small to approach any of the staff with.
We have been so happy with the nursery provision at Woodlands Day Nursery & Nursery School since our little boy started. It's such a hard thing to entrust your baby into someone else's care and we have been so impressed with the staff at Woodlands Day Nursery & Nursery School. Everyone got to know our little one and his interests and personality. They take the time to inform us about his day at pick up and he has progressed loads in terms of eating (the food is great!), sleeping and speaking since joining! He clearly loves nursery and all of the staff! We love it and I would recommend Woodlands Day Nursery without reservation!
