Chapel Lane, Wythall, Birmingham B47 6JX
The Wendy House Day Nursery comprises two settings near Birmingham accommodating 240 children, both of which have been rated outstanding. The Wythall setting is located in the grounds of Becketts Farm, with beautiful rural surroundings yet close to main routes into Birmingham, Solihull and Redditch/Bromsgrove.
In 2017 the nursery was awarded the highest possible accolade, Nursery of the Year - Central, by the National Day Nurseries Association.
The nursery is structured around six rooms, each of which is age appropriate and offers a stimulating environment that has been set up taking into consideration the seven areas of learning. Staff training and planning focuses around the six rooms, to which the key person structure is also aligned, to ensure maximum emphasis on delivery of the best possible outcomes for all children.
The nursery boasts high quality, modern facilities, which have benefits from convenient locations to help make life easier for busy working parents. The nursery is modern, purpose-built and well-equipped thanks to extensive investment in both the indoor and outdoor learning environments.

Job Title: Nursery Manager
Amy qualified in 2000 and has been working with young children for 16 years as a practitioner in nursery environments and as a nanny. Amy is passionate about giving children the best possible start in life. She has worked in charity nurseries for Action for Children in socially deprived areas, where the nursery environment is critical to children’s wellbeing and development. She recognises the importance of early years education in building a firm foundation, and she passes on this passion to parents and staff alike. Although part of the management team Amy likes to remain active in the setting and feels no greater pleasure than seeing the children grow and develop as they progress on their learning journeys.

Leah said: “I love my job at The Wendy House! It’s satisfying nurturing the children and seeing them grow and develop. It’s a huge responsibility keeping children safe and secure while they’re away for their parents, but I truly believe that because the nursery sets such high standards there is no better place for them to be than here at The Wendy House.”
Job Title: Practitioner
Sophie joined The Wendy House in September 2015 and can be found in Foundation Unit, where she is a hit with the children!
Sophie is a well-qualified practitioner, who has a BA (Hons) in Early Childhood Education and Care. Sophie is one of those committed people who takes her role very seriously – she has a great deal of voluntary work in schools under her belt, and is always willing to go the extra mile to help others.
In her own words: “I am so proud to be part of a nursery that has been rated Outstanding by Ofsted. I work in Foundation Unit, where we have one intake of pre-school children per year, so we can really focus on individual children’s’ learning outcomes in maths and phonics. It’s great to see the children progress, and winning the Nursery World Award in 2016 for our work in Foundation Unit was the icing on the cake!!”
