Building Blocks Nursery - Handsworth Wood

Building Blocks is a fantastic nursery. The staff are kind, patient and helpful. The facility is always clean and I love the variety of the activities. My children have really developed educationally and personally. Can’t speak more highly of my experience.

The staff are very friendly and caring they attend to my child’s needs. The attention to detail in terms of ensuring that as a parent I know what’s going on for my child. I love the app where I can track the activities of my child for the week.

If you’re a parent wondering about placing your children with this nursery, don’t hesitate! It’ll be the best decision you’ve ever made for them. We were worried about transferring our child due to the language delay but the amazing staff did so much with him from the day of his first visit. The nursery manager, along with the team and SENCO have gone above and beyond, even while negotiating the pressures of the pandemic and creating new learning opportunities. Our child is always happy to go to nursery. The nursery manager is never too busy to take a call, answer questions or offer suggestions. Staff have consistently demonstrated a genuine, caring attitude towards our child and this has added brilliance to the start of his educational experience. If I was allowed to name individuals, I would refer to every single member of staff as excellent! Thank you all!

Staff are always friendly, especially two members who reassured us our daughter is happy and safe. I am also happy with activities undertaken which positively engage our daughter.

The nursery is great. They are very accommodating and our child loves going. She has come along very well in both her confidence and also her speech.

My son attended Building Blocks for a little over 18 months. I chose them because of the location on the site of his siblings' school and he settled in really quickly and loved it, especially the friendly and supportive staff. During this time we referred him to be assessed for a communication delay. The nursery immediately put us in touch with their SENCO, who couldn't be more helpful and went above and beyond the remit of a day nursery in this matter. This continued even though the SENCO moved on and was replaced with another absolute gem. Everyone in the nursery supported my son to such a degree that he was able to transition to main school nursery so quickly that we were able to cancel all of the contingency plans (which the nursery committed to even though they didn't have to) to extend his stay if he didn't settle. This was an absolute triumph for a child who had recently had a diagnosis of Autism. This I think is a testament to the great effort and skills of the nursery staff.

It was extremely easy to arrange a viewing when looking for a new nursery for our son. The staff were very accommodating and helpful and the settle in sessions were easy to arrange.

Our son has settled in really well and doesn’t cry at drop off any more which we think is a great sign. He seems really happy and this is very reassuring as a parent.

The staff are always very thorough with feedback and flexible around his needs. We would be happy to recommend them based on our positive experience here.

My daughter really enjoys her time at Building Blocks Nursery - Handsworth Wood. The staff are friendly and helpful. My daughter always has a big smile for her key worker which is great. The environment is clean and welcoming. The information given at handover is always detailed and the staff have been responsive to any requests I have had. I am really thankful to Building Blocks for making my return to work and my daughter's start at nursery as smooth as possible.

My children enjoy going to nursery which makes me feel good about leaving them to go to work. Always felt the staff enjoy being there and they genuinely care for my children. I also like that they have a qualified teacher in pre-school.
