We are just coming to the end of our time with Rainbow Nursery, having had two children pass through from when they were 9-12 months up until they went to school. They have both had a brilliant time and have always been happy to go in and then, when they come home, tell us about the great things they've done that day. The staff have been consistently amazing with a number of them having been with them the whole time. We have always felt that both boys have been brilliantly cared for by them. We have recommended this nursery to our friends and would have no issue doing that again.
It's a lovely nursery to care after children. My daughter is four years old and enjoys the nursery, which has new activities and toys every day. They also help and educate children about personal hygiene. Most importantly, the workers are friendly and will greet you with a real smile. Imagine your child hugging the teacher the moment she sees them. There is nothing more to add. During the summer, they appropriately apply sunscreen and change their clothes if they get wet while playing in water. During the winter, keep the kids warm with a scarf, cap, and jacket. We can have peace of mind when we send our children off at the nursery and gladly wave goodbye. It's a really wonderful nursery to look after baby and toddler.
Absolutely fantastic nursery. Always go above and beyond for you as a parent and the child. Friendly supportive and welcoming. Helped my daughter come as far as she is! Couldn't rate a better nursery! Travel 20 miles a day to get her there and back and is so worth it!
My son has been going to Rainbow since he was 10 months. He's very happy there and I trust the team who are always communicative, friendly and thoughtful.
Both my children have attended Rainbow. My son was nearly two and started in Buds and Blossoms through to school, and my daughter from 5.5 months. She's still there in Buds and Blossoms and will stay until she starts school. It's also worth mentioning that my sister and I also went to Rainbow, in 1988! As a family we only have good things to say about Rainbow. The connection with their key workers and the friends they have made will stay with us for a lifetime. It's still family-owned and has a lovely warm family feel. The setting is nurturing and both our children have developed very well. The key workers know the children inside out and I have no hesitation in recommending Rainbow.
As soon as I first visited Rainbow Day Nursery I knew I would be happy sending my daughter here. The staff are utterly wonderful and so kind and caring. They were unbelievably accommodating with my wishes for my daughter. She is so happy and settled with all the staff and she has formed a really wonderful bond with her key carer. They are also really supporting her development, with movement, nutrition, curiosity, speech development with baby signs etc and social skills. I really couldn’t be happier with everything about this lovely nursery.
I like the fact that they are being prepared for a normal school ahead with the painting and number work my daughter came back with.
A job well done to you all.
I have been with Rainbows since August 2021 for my first child and now have both my daughters in the setting. They are both happy to go in every morning, they thrive in the caring environment and learn so much. The staff are friendly and I trust them completely with my two girls. They are always helpful and keen to support us as parents with never any judgement.
The staff at the nursery are absolutely wonderful; kind, patient and fantastic teachers.
As a parent I felt part of a community and have built relationships with other parents of children at the setting.
The topics covered have been age appropriate and have led my son to show a real interest in London and Space as he has really enjoyed learning about them.
I feel that the setting have set my son up for school really well.
Thank you for 4 wonderful years! We are so pleased we chose this nursery for him.
My daughter has been attending the nursery since she was 7 months old and has never been upset getting dropped off. She has a great bond with the staff and they really stick to her routine with sleep, milk and food as well as being great with her dietary needs. The observations are very detailed and updated regularly each week which is lovely to see what she’s been doing and learning. The nursery has a lovely family feel and communications with management have been easy and well-managed.
Lovely, lovely nursery! My daughter took to the staff immediately and attached to one member of staff in particular, who is possibly the friendliest person I've ever met! Lots to do daily, so always exhausted. Homemade meals and snacks for my foodie baby. She started at 9 months old and is now a year old and looks forward to nursery every single day! They kept my mind at ease on day one, letting me know she was happy and doing great. You get these cute notes daily that tell you what they have been up to and I think it's a lovely keepsake. You also have digital images or videos of your child doing an activity, it's always reassuring to see her smile. My daughter feels so at home there and I am happy sending her there and this coming from an extremely anxious first-time working mother. They are just by Poole park as well, so in good weather, they go for outings. You will love it as will your little ones. Looking at other nurseries in the area, Rainbow was a no-brainer! Thanks, lovely ladies.
I can raise any questions without fear of judgement and my children have always walked in and out happy.
Cannot recommend them enough. If you're looking for a friendly and welcoming nursery this is the one for you hands down!
A caring and lovely nursery. My daughter has attended since she was around 9 months old. She has enjoyed every minute of her time here. The staff are loving and feel like extended family members. My daughter loves them all, and they will be truly missed. I am forever thankful to the Rainbow team for the care, love and attention they have shown my daughter and cannot recommend enough. The food is freshly cooked on site and I am forever hearing how yummy it is! I honestly believe this is the best nursery and preschool you will find.
Brilliant nursery with great staff members. My daughter has been attending since she was 7 months old (she is 3.5 years now) and she absolutely loves it. A small set-up with lovely and nurturing girls. It feels like a second home to my daughter. I would definitely recommend it. In my opinion, it is the best nursery in Poole.
Rainbow has been a fantastic nursery for both my children. The staff are friendly and professional, the food is wonderful and the activities are fun with a stimulating space inside and out. It’s great they now go out for walks enjoying the local environment as well.
My son has been going here for 3 years, he is always excited and happy to go and loves talking about all the things he's done each day. He has made great friends and has built great relationships with the staff. All staff are polite and friendly and take the time to make sure that there are activities that meet each child's interest.
My baby (8months) has been so welcomed and supported to help him adjust to the nursery that he loves going and I feel confident that he is getting the care and attention he should be. The team takes an interest in supporting my families preferences for my babies care and tailor their day to be as comfortable, enjoyable and positive as possible for us all. The staff genuinely enjoy being with the children and take a real pride in their achievements and progress. I would recommend Rainbow Day Nursery Scool to everyone who wants an exceptional environment for their little person.
Rainbow Day Nursery is an excellent nursery. My daughter has special educational needs and disability and she has been cared for in an individual and supportive way. Nothing has been too much trouble and she is able to integrate fully with all the other children and make great friends. She participates in many activities on a daily basis and benefits highly from a great relationship with staff who make her feel safe and comfortable for her to reach her full potential. They are an extended part of our family.

My name is Gillian, I founded Rainbow Day Nursery School in September 1985 following a career in nursing and teaching, and Rainbow opened one day following my eldest Grandson’s second Birthday! Over the years Rainbow has grown like “Topsy”. Initially, we were registered for 20 children aged 2-5 years old, we then extended and increased to 30 children. In 1993 I moved out of my flat and the “Cherubs” unit was formed providing 15 places for babies. In 2000 I was lucky to win a “Sealed Bid” and purchase the WRVS premises! This provided an area for the Pre-school Explorers and a second large garden. We are now registered for 65 children. During the years my youngest daughter and eldest son have both worked at Rainbow I am now working with my youngest Grandson and enjoying the experience!
My name is Gerry, and I am the Finance Director. I joined Rainbow in 2004 after a career in Business Management. I was employed as the Business Manager and took over this role from my mother who remained in the business as an advisor.
In 2008 we formed a limited company with Gillian and me as Directors. My youngest son joined the business in 2019 when we worked closely together until his appointment as Business Manager in 2020 when he took over the daily running of the Business and I now support him from a more remote position. My wife Naomi has worked at Rainbow since 2001 and is qualified as a Nursery Practitioner level 3. My wife and I have just celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary. Naomi had a 10-year-old daughter when we married, and we have two sons. We have two granddaughters, one of whom is an apprentice at the Nursery, we also have two young Grandsons, the eldest is enjoying his time at Rainbow. The baby will follow shortly.
My name is Su and I am the Operations Director of the Nursery. My role includes overseeing the Compliance for the setting and I am the Nominated Person for Ofsted. I started my career (many years ago) as a Registered Nurse and then went on to become an Early Years Practitioner after having my children. My passion is Speech and Language and for a number of years, I ran my own Baby Signing company, teaching parents/carers and pre-verbal babies to use Sign Language as a way to communicate.
Since qualifying as an Early Years Practitioner, I have been involved in setting up a number of nurseries in the South of England and helping them to obtain their Good or Outstanding ratings with Ofsted. I am also heavily involved in a charity that helps the homeless and local families who are in need of assistance. In my spare time, I can usually be found walking the family Weimaraner dog on the beach or in the New Forest.
My name is Edward, I joined Rainbow Day Nursery School in 2019 to assist my father, in developing the Business. In October 2020, I became the Business Manager. I work closely with the Nursery Manager and Directors; we have formed an effective working partnership supporting all aspects of Rainbow’s business.
I studied Business and Management at university; however, I am also fortunate to have my grandmother, Gillian, fully committed to the business and giving me much support as well as my father. I also enjoyed my own early years at Rainbow along with my brother, cousins, and nieces, and we all have many happy childhood memories of the setting. Rainbow has always played an enormous part in our lives.
My name is Sam and I am the Nursery Manager. I joined Rainbow in 2022 as I wanted to be involved in a more home away from home, family-oriented setting, with my own daughter due and on the way at the time. I have worked in childcare for around 10 years after starting my apprenticeship at 21 and worked my way up to management roles.
During this time, I have worked in different settings, assisting them to get Good or Outstanding ratings from Ofsted. I have also worked with many outside agencies and alongside BCP. In my spare time, I am an England FA qualified Football Coach. I have coached all age ranges from under 5’s to under 13’s, 14’s and 15’s. I am now currently Manager of and coaching a Men’s team, where I am also signed as a player.
My name is Nat, I am one of the team leaders and Special educational needs Coordinator (SENDCo.) I have worked in childcare settings for 15 years. I started off my career in childcare at Rainbow back in 2007 where I completed my level 2 & 3 qualifications in childcare and education as well as my SENDCo training.
I then had the opportunity to join a cruise ship working with young children. Following my return, I have worked in different settings with various roles including working as a 1:1 support worker helping families and practitioners to support children with different additional needs, such as Autism, global development delay and speech and language delays. I am passionate about my job and really enjoy being able to share my knowledge and experiences with my colleagues and families to help further support children’s learning and development.
