Tops Day Nurseries: Prince Rock Nursery

Tops have always been good, but in the past few months they have been exceptional! Our little one has a great time and we always get really good updates via the app. Forest school is brilliant and the nursery always do trips. Thank you to everyone at Tops for making nursery days so fun!

We love Tops - Prince Rock Nursery. My daughter is happy and always has fun. The staff are lovely and friendly. My daughter has a lovely group of friends and is excited about preschool.

I think there has been a lot of positive change since a particular staff member became manager. The children are doing more planned activities to aid their development. I am also receiving more frequent updates to show what they are doing while at nursery.

However, there was an issue when I attempted to change the children’s hours of attendance. I was informed that the nursery would be able to change the hours in February. As I had to check with my manager at work if this change would be able to be actioned, I asked to call back on Monday to confirm. I confirmed with my manager on the Monday and called the nursery to accept the change in hours, however, I was then told that the hours would not be able to be changed until April. If my workplace were not flexible, this could have lead to me being without childcare on days that I would have had to work.

I am also concerned that the staff at the nursery are not very well trained in SEND and due to this, are not well equipped to deal with meltdowns and overstimulation or recognising the symptoms leading to a meltdown before it takes place.

After a rocky few months of staff changeover, slowly I can see improvements being made. My son enjoys attending preschool, joining in the activities with his friends and spending time learning different things. My son has a new key worker and we have already noticed an improvement in his care. Any problems we have had, management have been quick to act and ensured the issue has been resolved.

I am very happy with the way she has settled into nursery and enjoy watching videos of her and what she gets up to during the day.

All was good, great communication and very happy with the well-being of our daughter.

The nursery is doing well with my child. She is coming on well with the new staff at the nursery, since members she was close to have left. Areas such as the garden and playroom have been noted for improvement and I'm glad. Going to the toilet, at the moment, is and isn't a problem but going with different members can improve her confidence, especially out of nursery. Help with colours, shapes and words could be done more frequently to help boost learning. Management has massively improved. Cleaning needs improvement as illnesses are more frequent.

Our son moved in January 2023 and loves it! He's settled in well and the staff have been amazing at ensuring he's happy and making new friends.

I'm impressed with the staff and the overall attitude displayed by them.

My child really enjoys coming to nursery and we like the better structure now. We feel comfortable with him here.

I am extremely happy with how my daughter's speech has come along. Since being at the nursery everyone is so kind and caring.

My child loves attending this setting. The staff are amazing! Communication is amazing. I've had no issues and my child has been attending for nearly 3 years. Activities are great. My child is always busy and can't wait to go back when they come home.

This nursery has welcomed my daughter lovely. She looks forward to going every time and is greeted with smiles and enthusiasm. Throughout the week when my daughter is home she is still talking about her nursery nurses and asking to go. They provide us with information about my daughter's day regarding sleeping times and how much she’s eaten every pick-up.

My only complaint would be at collection time, it can take some time to get all the children out the door when only one person is doing it and having a conversation about each child's day before getting the next child. I am often late collecting my other children from school because of the length of time it takes to get my daughter when you know she leaves at 3pm. Also, I often feel ignored at this time because nobody actually acknowledges I am there. A simple I will go and get little lady or fella would be a lot better and a lot more professional and polite.

From when I viewed the nursery last year September time to now, the outside garden space has had no improvements made. The flooring is awful and marks all my children's clothes and is actually more of a hazard in itself. For this reason, I have marked value for money down quite significantly as I don’t feel the space is yet up to the standard being charged. Also, the inside space I understand the use of non-plastic but that doesn’t mean everything needs to be brown. Everything is very bland and comments I have had when showing someone photos of my child at nursery they joke of it being a “prison nursery” - On a positive note, the food and meal selections are excellent, my child is enjoying these and the staff are also excellent.

The staff are always lovely and helpful. My son always seems to have fun. He seems to eat really well there too. My son loves one member of staff in particular, and she is really patient with him and always makes sure he has fun as well as learns something.

My son has been attending Tops for over a year now and has thrived both emotionally and academically. He loves the range of resources both inside and outside of the setting, along with previous forest school lessons which took him outside of the setting for new adventures. He is about to start these again soon which he is very excited for! The staff are incredible and go above and beyond for the children. With regular communication at drop-off and collection and parents' evenings. I am more than happy with what he has been doing throughout the day. They have even supported my son with his literacy as we had done a lot at home through lockdown, they have carried on with his phonics and writing to ensure he still continues to have a love of learning. I could not thank the staff at Tops Prince Rock enough!
