Early Birds Nursery is an Early Years Alliance childcare service located in the heat of the seaside town of Bude in Cornwall.

Providing professional, flexible and affordable care to children aged three months to five-years-old, the nursery is open Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm, 51 weeks of the year.

Early Birds Nursery enjoys the benefits of open plan spaces, and a varied outdoor garden and play space, which the children explore and thrive in. The nursery operates a Forest School programme where children get to investigate the outdoors in ways that a standard nursery could not offer.

There are separate areas for babies, toddlers and pre-school children, furnished with age-appropriate toys and natural resources, ensuring the team provides the best possible standard of care, development and education.

The nursery operates a Key Person policy, ensuring that each child is cared for by a member of staff who knows them well and will then support and track your child's development. They encourage parent participation by including parents to upload photos and observations on a child's personal online learning journey.

The team places a great emphasis on creating a loving, nurturing and warm environment for every child.

The nursery offers 34 Ofsted-registered places and was rated 'Good' by Ofsted in May 2023.

Our child has been attending Early birds for 4 months now and seen a hugely positive development in him. His speech, social interaction and learning has been fabulous. So happy and glad we have chosen Early Birds for our son as we love the close interaction with us as parents and his fondness for all

My daughter attends Early Birds Nursery and I couldn’t be more at ease. She always bounces out of the door at the end of her session, armed with artwork! She’s not the most confident being away from us but she’s always put at ease, and feels close to her key workers that she can have cuddles if upset
which is a huge relief! Very friendly staff, a safe and relaxed environment and I can see her confidence grow. Would highly recommend!

I can’t recommend Early Birds Nursery enough. The staff are so friendly and welcoming. My son joined in September and I worried about him settling as he was moving from somewhere that he loved but I didn’t need to worry. He settled in so quickly because of the staff and his key worker. He gets to learn
in the way that suits him best which is generally outside and messy. He comes home talking about the things he has done and can’t wait to go back the next day. I have been singing your praises and recommending you to friends.

I have been really impressed with the nursery we choose for our little one, from the start we have been really happy and since the manager has started the nursery has gone from strength to strength.
Our little one has got so much out of her time here and continues to grow. The support all the staff
at Early Birds have shown has been amazing and the confidence our little one is gaining whilst there is down to all their hard work.

Our son loves going to Early Birds. The staff have been amazing over lockdown and have done a great job of getting back to the new normal. There is a really calm atmosphere led by the staff. The outdoor learning is great, even in the rain! Also, the app makes it really easy to communicate and see how
they are making progress. I would highly recommend to anyone.

One of my children has just finished at this nursery to go to school, and the youngest still attends. They both love going to nursery, on the days my youngest doesn't attend, he always asks about it. The staff are so friendly, caring and clearly enjoy what they are doing. It's a lovely little setting
that provides a safe, comfortable environment for the children. I feel the nursery provided a great start for my oldest, who has now gone to school. He's very sociable with other children and has a good foundation of knowledge to start his education. I am really grateful for the care and support all the staff have given my children.

Both my children went here and one still does until the end of August. The team are amazing, kind and friendly. They have always done there utmost best for both my children. My children had the same key worker and she was amazing and we will all miss her lots just like the other members of the team.

It’s difficult to put into words what a relief it is to know my baby girl is happy and well taken care of when I go to work. She has attended the baby room for the past 3 months and is always happy when I drop her off and when I pick her up. She goes to any of the staff and totters off to play with
whatever and whoever is around. The staff are so caring and friendly and are never too busy to talk to you. They post photos of what she’s been up to and I can check throughout the day how she’s doing on the app, it’s great! Even though she’s only been there a few months she’s developed so much. I can’t recommend this nursery enough.

My daughter will have completed a whole year at Early Birds next month and I am delighted how happy she is there and how easily she settled in at the start only being 8 months old and how she has integrated with the other children and the wonderful staff. I was so impressed back on my first visit and
still feel the same. The nursery is spacious and airy and the children can go outside for fresh air. The staff are very friendly and extremely professional. The children always seem engaged and happy when I visit and my daughter never wants to leave. Which says it all really.
Well done Early Birds. Five stars from a very happy mummy.

My son has just left Early Birds Nursery after being with them for a year before leaving to join school this September. He loved it, never not wanted to go! and always came home with stories to tell and new songs to sing, he often brought home paintings and drawings and the Famly app let me see any
notifications that were posted about his day. Highly recommended!

Absolutely lovely nursery, the staff are so polite and friendly. When my son doesn’t want me to leave they are very good with taking him away from a cuddle and calming him down. He’s made lots of friends with all the kids and he absolutely loves it there. Wouldn’t want him to go anywhere else.

I'm very pleased with my decision to put my son in the nursery, the staff were excellent at helping me with getting him signed up although I was nervous and unsure of what I had to do. Every time I take my son he's always excited to go an tells me about how they read books, play outside and have snacks
and drinks. The staff have been excellent when there have been problems to do with my taking my son and very responsive to messages, the forum page has to be one of my favourite things as it's updated regularly and they are very good at letting parents know of upcoming events and also any signs of bugs or anything that any other child may have. I have had no problems with the nursery and I have suggested the nursery to other friends with kids.

Rachel is an Early Years Teacher and a qualified level 3 Forest School leader, with a degree in Early Childhood Studies.


Rachel has over 30 years of experience in the early years sector. Rachel has a real passion for using nature to provide individualised learning experiences for all children, to create strong and lasting foundations for later life. Rachel is a proactive manager who enjoys working with parents to provide high-quality care and education. Supporting the team to keep up to date with new approaches, ideas and resources, to enhance how the children learn and develop in their own unique ways. To build authentic relationships with the children and nurture them to become confident, resilient and independent.
