Our daughter started at Mornington House earlier this year, aged 12 months old. We have had such a positive experience of the nursery - it is a small team who are consistently so caring, kind and supportive. The settling in process was brilliant; it was very much tailored to what was right for our daughter, encouraging her to build familiarity and trust with the team. As parents, we also feel immense trust, gratitude and respect for the team. It is such a joy and relief to know our daughter is happy and being so well cared for at nursery. I could not rate the nursery more highly.
Our son has been here since he was 10 months old and we have counted our lucky stars we found Mornington Nursery. They are so caring, welcoming and warm and I can't fault anything in the 2 years our son has been there. The staff retention is incredible which just goes to show and management and the whole team are just so welcoming and kind they make you feel like family! Our son has his ups and downs, especially with drop-offs, and the whole team give us such reassurance he is ok and after a few minutes is happily playing, he is never a burden and by the time it is picked up, he doesn't want to leave! He has made great friends and we are looking forward to pre-school. Thank you Mornington!
Staff always seem attentive and kind to the children, my son loves going there and is always happy being dropped off in the morning. The staff tell me what activities they've been up to during the day and my son gleefully tells me what he's been up to.
All the staff are lovely and the 'Head' is very welcoming. It's a hidden gem. I wish they could both stay on past their pre-school years.
The important work of caregiving done by the lovely caregivers at this tucked-away nursery has added joy, kinship and safety to my two toddlers' day. We trust everyone at Mornington and feel welcome, involved and grateful for the work they do and the space they've created.
Mornington House is like an extension of our family. My little one has been here since the age of 1 and is now in the last year of pre-school and we could not ask for a more caring, kind and considerate nursery setting for her. We have seen her really grow and flourish over the years and I can't think of a better start for a young life. One of the best things is that the team all genuinely care. And, There is consistency, I hear lots of stories of other nurseries closing and a high turnover of staff, we have never experienced that here in 4 years. They put thought into activities, are flexible, and adaptable and always do their best for every child in their care. I will always be grateful for the love and support of management and all of the team, all wonderful people, and all that they have shared, including me personally when we have had some difficult times over the years. I cannot recommend Mornington House enough. Thank you.
A really friendly caring nursery. Excellent staff. Well organised. Good food. Regular feedback to parents. Children all very happy. Nice outside space despite the city location. Nice culture/values. Would highly recommend.
My two sons have attended Mornington House from baby room to pre-school with one still currently in preschool. We can't rate the nursery highly enough. All the staff are amazing. They are friendly, attentive and caring. The lovely Manager and her team in preschool provide exciting, engaging and fun activities ensuring the children are learning through play and are fully prepared for starting school. The fabulous Louise provides nutritious and varied meals. The brilliant manager ensures everything runs smoothly and parents are kept informed about everything that is going on. The communication between nursery and home is excellent. We love the small, flexible and homely nature of the nursery as it ensures that all staff really get to know your child and the parents too. I leave in the morning confident that my child is safe, happy and is having fun.
I am so glad that we found this nursery for our son. When I asked him yesterday how his day had been, he answered, "Amazing." The staff at Mornington genuinely care about the children's well-being, their education, and their happiness. It's clear that they are dedicated to creating a nurturing and positive environment. We couldn't be happier with our choice!
Both children have attended Mornington Nursery for a number of years. It's a fantastic nursery with caring staff. The manager runs the nursery and does an excellent job. The vast majority of staff have been at the nursery for years and years. They are dedicated and clearly enjoy their jobs - this is reflected in the loving and nurturing environment they create for the children. Fresh food is prepared by the wonderful Louise daily and the children can watch her cooking! Considering it's a city centre nursery there is still a lovely garden which they spend lots of time in. Would definitely recommend Mornington!
It's an excellent team at Mornington House, we visited many nurseries to begin with, during the pandemic years, and selected Mornington because the staff gave us a strong sense of confidence that our child would be safe, healthy and happy there. Our daughter has now been there since she was 6 months old, all the way to preschool, and we look back and think that we're so glad we chose Mornington. Our daughter is so happy there that she frequently asks, on her own accord, to go to preschool. Every time we drop her off we have total confidence she will be safe. We have come to know she'll be learning about new topics, growing her imagination, mastering new skills, learning how to control and understand her emotions, or just having fun and playing games. The staff at Mornington should be proud of themselves for all the hard work they put into the nursery. Our daughter really appreciates it, as do we!
Incredible staff. A small nursery with a family vibe. Incredibly kind staff who really care for the children. I have a child in both the baby room and preschool. They love attending and their confidence has come leaps and bounds in the past few months!
My son has blossomed and has experienced all the love, fun and great memories from Mornington.
The manager leads a great team. I am always informed and all milestones are discussed and monitored.
My nephew went there 12 years ago and he still has great memories there. So that's the main reason I chose Mornington.
The staff are wide range of ages so I always feel there is a multitude of experiences that can help support and look after my son.
Every drop off and pick up there is a smile and a hug and for that, I'm so grateful.
Can't thank or recommend Mornington enough.
He seems to be very comfortable with all staff members in all rooms and really enjoys going to nursery.
We feel very supported with any concerns we have raised with the staff and manager in terms of his development.
It's a lovely nursery and we are very grateful for their support in caring for our son.
Mornington look after my 1 year old daughter and previously looked after my son who was in pre-school. I honestly can't fault the nursery, the care they have given both of our children has been exceptional. They are lovely to deal with, genuinely care for the children and are very fair when it comes to drop off/pick up. It's a family environment, not a corporate operation.
Couldn't ask for a better nursery.
We were offered a gradual settling-in period to allow her to get used to spending longer periods in the nursery, and she has bonded well with the staff in the baby room and across the nursery as a whole.
We are happy with the debriefs at pickup each day and, although there is the odd occasion where information hasn't been recorded on the app already, staff are always able to tell us the information, if needed. We've also been happy with the regular reviews regarding my daughter's progress.
They do a wide variety of activities with the children, which we get informed of either at drop off or pick up, and spend lots of time out in the garden. My daughter has come on in leaps and bounds since starting and her confidence only continues to increase.
Significant weaknesses on the management side: e.g. allowing the children to access the internet and play video games with a desktop computer in the room but didn't mention anything to parents. Staff are changed constantly. Not very supportive: for example checking whether you have applied all-day sun cream on your kids before drop-off every morning (even on rainy days, except in the winter) to save their time – the deputy manager in the room showed unhappiness if you forgot to do this – I was worried about my child’s day. Warning: The managers may be bossy (our opinion). Extra cost: cancelling your universal free hours on bank holidays so that you pay extra money on bank holidays – might be one reason why their booking rate on Monday/Friday is much lower.
The manager sent emails to ask parents to give reviews here, but I realised they are able to see your names. Overall, we'd rather pay for another nursery for a better service.
Dear WL, I note that your child left Mornington House for school, rather than another nursery, last July. We are disappointed that you have chosen to post on public forums rather than meeting with us, while your son was attending the nursery, to discuss any concerns. Please note that much of what...
There were a few times several months ago when my child said that some members of staff were shouting. I didn't know the exact situation but there were changes in his behaviour as he started being resistant to attending the nursery in the mornings, so I have concerns about his well-being and mental health. We also noticed two or three times by chance that some members of staff showed signs of anger at the points when we arrived. Some practitioners were quite helpful and supportive but unfortunately, many of them have left in the past year.
The managing team looks more helpful than they are. I hope the processing of children and families' matters was less bureaucratic and focused on real support to the families.
The room and facility seem okay, but I am not sure about the overall quality of the service.
We are disappointed that instead of meeting with us, which we offered many times, you have chosen to share your opinions in a public review. We are confident that our staff do not shout, that would be completely against our ethos and policies. All issues that we had to raise with you were dealt...
for helping develop my little one into a well-rounded and happy individual.
