The Red House Day Nursery opened in the vibrant Cambridgeshire village of Burwell in January 1997. It occupies a central location in a converted Victorian house, overlooking the village green. They cater for up to 58 children a day between the ages of 3 months to 5 years in 3 separate age related rooms that provide a warm home from home atmosphere for children to play, learn and thrive in.

Not only do they aim to provide the best quality care for each child who attends the nursery, they also hope to make the decision of choosing a nursery easier for parents by providing enough information for them to make an informed choice. The team believe that every parent needs to be able to leave their child in the knowledge that they are going to be well cared for in their absence. That their child is going to have fun, be stimulated, be given cuddles, supported when needed and can have the opportunity and guidance to master new challenges.

Our first child has attended the Red House Day Nursery from 12 months and he absolutely loves it! It is clearly great for his development through speech and the new actions he shows us. We also love getting the daily updates on what he and his classmates have been up to!

Both my daughters have been going go Red House since they were 9 months old until school. They have been absolutely fabulous with them throughout, I couldn’t recommend them highly enough. Their staff are not only caring and nurturing but my children have learnt essential life skills in preparation for
school. I feel Red House go above and beyond compared to many nurseries in the area.

Both of my daughters have attended The Red House and they have always been so happy there. The staff are kind, caring and thoughtful towards each individual child. They adapt the activities offered to suit each child’s interests and development. Every evening, after I collect my daughter, I can see
she has been well cared for and thoroughly enjoyed her day. The communication from staff is great, made even better by the online activity journal. I would not hesitate to recommend The Red House.

We feel very lucky to be able to send our 2-year-old to the Red House Day Nursery. It’s a brilliant nursery and the staff are amazing - very supportive, caring and reliable. We know our daughter is in great hands. We are very impressed with our daughter’s progress and her confidence has grown so much
since she started attending back in October 2020. We are always kept up to date with any changes and the communication with the manager and the rest of the team is excellent. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this nursery to any of my friends.

We are so happy with the care that The Red House has provided to our son. We moved to the area during covid and I returned to work from maternity leave with our first child and started back at work. It was a busy and changing time, however, the staff at the nursery made this transition so smooth and
they were so supportive of my child’s individual needs and preferences. We have never considered moving our son and we are so happy with his care. In fact, I am currently in the last few weeks of my second pregnancy and this baby is already on the list to start next year. We couldn’t think of a better place to send either of them, at any age.

My child has settled in fantastically at this nursery despite being a “COVID baby”. He isn’t always comfortable with other people and the nursery have gone above and beyond to support this along with his other development. My son comes home every week having learnt something new. He has developed incredibly
fast at nursery and it is clear from the daily photos/videos that the staff understand his needs and know him very well. The staff are really brilliant and caring. They treat each child differently, based on their own needs.

All three of my children have attended this nursery and all have been very happy here. The staff are very friendly and approachable and build great relationships with the children. Our daughter loved going to Red House Nursery. The staff are loving and caring and always provided a stimulating environment for the children. Both our children attend/have attended this nursery and we have always been happy with the care and attention that they receive. The nursery is clean, friendly and professional. They have an online platform to share pictures and videos. But it's the staff that really make the nursery special. Friendly,

The Red House is an absolutely lovely nursery and all the staff are amazing. Everyone is friendly and the care given to the children is excellent. Wonderful nursery. Put all four of my children into The Red House. 2007-2021. Extremely well run. They were all very well cared for and loved every minute they spent here. You won’t find a better nursery.

This is the most wonderful nursery! The staff are just wonderful! The best there is. My girls loved it here and were sad to leave. This nursery goes above and beyond for your children.

Sarah started her career at St Ives in October 2014 as a nursery nurse Level 3. Since Sarah has been at Bright Stars she has completed SEND, been promoted to room leader, Health and Safety, Acting Deputy & DSL. Sarah became level 4 qualified in 2021 and also completed a leadership and management course in 2022. Sarah is now the manager at the Red House Nursery. Sarah comments “I have always been keen to take on additional courses to support me in furthering my knowledge and understanding which I have been able to apply in my practice. I have always wanted to support others to help them deliver quality to children and families, working closely with parents to support SEND”

I have been working at Red House since it first opened in 1997. I am qualified to level 4 in childcare as well as holding a SENDCO and designated safeguarding lead certificate. I love my job, as everyday is different. I enjoy watching the children grow and achieve both big and little steps and seeing the smile on their face when they do is the best feeling.
