My child attended The Wishing Tree from 2020-2023 and they were brilliant other than a few issues. I really found his speech came a long way and his key person was absolutely amazing I would highly recommend him to anyone who is looking for childcare for their children. He seemed to really care about
the children in the nursery and enjoyed his job which was great to see.

The issues I had were:
- A high staff turnover, most employees were there no longer than 3-6 months so it meant every time my child settled he was having to get used to new people constantly. I think I could name 2 staff members who were there from start to finish of my time.
- The fees were constantly going up every few months. The nursery is quite full so it seemed like there was never enough staff for children, the employees were quite often rushing around due to staff shortages because they were constantly leaving. Other than that it was great and my son was very sad to leave.

Reply from Charlotte Whyatt, Marketing and Communications Executive at The Wishing Tree NurseryHi, thank you for taking the time to leave a review. Staff turnover is an issue we are working diligently to rectify but we would like to reassure you that the health and safety of the children is our highest priority, and we remain compliant with ratio requirements at all times.

Excellent nursery, with great staff, lots of activities for the kids, literally the nursery is full of activities for the kids, the most I've seen of any nursery in Brighton and Hove. Staff are very kind to the kids and attentive.

We love the nursery and we have seen a huge improvement in our child's development since starting here. The children are constantly doing fun, educational activities and are never bored. Meal times are very special and our child loves the independence of serving herself and eating with her friends.

We have our two boys at the Wishing Tree and they both settled in really quickly and within a week they were excited to go every morning and are so happy and energised (and exhausted) on pick up every afternoon. The staff are wonderful; always friendly, caring, attentive and fun. Both our boys are learning
so many things at the nursery, including yoga, which is hilarious to watch them practice when they come home! We feel completely at ease leaving them there every day and then hearing about all the activities they've been up to as we drive home. But as with any nursery, it's the staff that makes the place, and the team at the Wishing Tree are really special.

When we started looking for a nursery for our daughter, The Wishing Tree wasn't the closest to our house, nor the cheapest of the other nurseries we considered. We thought "this place needs to have something really good for us to pay more and need to use more time to get to the nursery and back". It
did. It was undoubtedly one of the best choices we made as a family. My daughter loves the staff and she has developed so much in her time there. The children are constantly stimulated, with books, songs, dancing, outings to parks and libraries, messy play, outdoor area, etc. The nursery provides a varied diet that kids seem to love. The nursery staff was supportive of my daughter using reusable nappies and very supportive during the potty training stage and I know they are very thoughtful of dietary requirements and preferences. I feel safe and confident leaving my baby in the hands of the Wishing Tree every day and I thank them for giving me that peace of mind.

The Wishing Tree Nursery is an excellent provider of childcare.
It's an ideal place for our daughter to grow and thrive. She has a wonderful network of friends and has developed strong relationships with all of her key workers. They are always friendly and very welcoming and keep me and my partner
involved in her life at nursery. She spends lots of time out in the fresh air exploring nature and regularly exercising. The environment and play areas are spacious and age-appropriate. The nursery community is strong and we were invited to Halloween activities in October which were excellent. We couldn't be happier with our choice of nursery, it is an asset to the area!

Both my children have attended The Wishing Tree, and our youngest has been there now for roughly 8 months. We are very satisfied with the care and nurturing nature of the staff and have seen significant development in our children whilst they’ve been at The Wishing Tree Nursery.

The feedback we receive

on a day-to-day basis provides us with a broad insight into our children’s day, covering the meals, experiences, interactions, and their overall well-being and development.
We always feel content in knowing that they’re safe and in good hands when we leave them, and look forward to catching up with our children’s key person when we pick them up.
Thank you Wishing Tree for looking after our children, and giving them the best start.

My daughter has been at The Wishing Tree since she was 8 months old (she is now three) and has consistently loved it since day one. The staff in every room are so kind and know the children well. The management team are supportive and has good communication. The nursery has a child-led approach to learning
and the children are able to progress at their own rate. They always have a variety of activities available in the room and the outdoor space is lovely.

Had my child here from 13 months to now nearly 3 years old.
Very happy with everything. The only complaint I can think of is it would be nice if the garden didn't flood when it rained heavily.
The app is really good, very cute to get a notification telling me my child has just gone to sleep.

My son has been attending the Wishing Tree for over a year now and we would highly recommend the setting to other parents. They have a wonderful outdoor play area, much larger than any others that we saw around Brighton, and indoors they also have a lovely range of facilities. My son especially loves
the fish tank of tropical fish! We love how they encourage independence in serving food and drink to each other. Every time we have come to collect our son he is busy involved in some sort of play or activity and he doesn't want to leave. He also eats very well there and (much to our surprise) has a much more varied diet than he will agree to at home. We feel very lucky to live near this lovely nursery and will be sending our younger child there too!

My daughter has been at the Wishing Tree for a few months now. She loves it! I was worried how she would find it but she’s really grown in confidence and the staff are absolutely amazing. Everyone is so so friendly and helpful. They really reassured me about the whole nursery process. My daughter gets
an observation every week which they upload and I’ve found it so helpful to see how she’s getting on.

Wishing Tree is a wonderful nursery. The staff are warm, friendly and helpful. Both of my children settled in very easily and quickly. My son has been attending the Wishing Tree nursery for several years now and I could not be happier with the service they offer.

They have excellent facilities including a wonderful garden area and in door soft play room. They also take the children on regular trips to the woods and park as well

as the occasional trip to local farms.

I have been particularly impressed by the balance between play and learning. My sons days at the nursery really support his academic development but are also a lot of fun!! It seems no two days are the same!

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend The Wishing Tree nursery to other parents.

A great little atmosphere in this nursery. I hear about all their daily activities when I collect my baby.
Settling in went very well and there hasn't been a grizzle about being left there since he started.
My son loves his time at nursery and feels happy and cared for as far as I can tell. It's
a lovely environment that fills me with confidence in their care.

Writing this review is so difficult as there are many positive things about The Wishing Tree and its fabulous staff that have enabled my children to gain so much in their early years, while offering peace of mind and quality care going on four years for my daughter.

The nursery staff have become

an important part of our lives and the nurturing, energetic and creative activities my children complete on a weekly basis is awesome. For example, my daughter has attended forest school, undertaken woodwork and been to the Lego store to name but a few. My son, in the toddler room, has painted with his feet, played in a box of cous cous and listened to live music!

This nursery excels in parent relations - I have never been made to feel a nuisance when I have discussed my daughter's dietary needs (vegetation and dairy intolerant) and instead I am respected and my children's individuality understood. Also myself and my husband have attended tea at the nursery - a truly memorable experience.

My son has been attending the nursery full time, since I went back to work after maternity. He has some additional needs and what I love is all the team at the nursery, without exception, show patience, care and treat him as part of the team. He has never looked back or told me he doesn't want to
go - which is amazing after attending for 2 years of 5 days a week! He comes home messy and tired which shows me has had a great day! I would thoroughly recommend Wishing Tree Nursery.

My daughter has been attending The Wishing Tree Nursery for nearly 2 years, since she was 6 months old. In that time she has thrived in the environment. She has never come home unhappy unless she's been poorly and the care and support given by the teams there is excellent. The wide range of facilities,
indoor and out, means that the children get a wide variety of learning experiences through play and they cater very well for the different development stages of the children in their care. I would recommend the nursery to anyone looking for a safe and welcoming environment for their child to learn and develop in.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.826)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.826) out of 10 for The Wishing Tree Nursery is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 26 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 26 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.826 for The Wishing Tree Nursery is calculated as follows: ( (261 Excellents x 5) + (46 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 311 Ratings = 4.826
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Wishing Tree Nursery is based on 26 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 86 number of registered child places is 17.2, which has been reached with 26 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
