We have been delighted with the recent developments at Strawberry Hill. Our son is now three and has attended since he was 8 months old. The staff continue to display a dedicated and caring approach to their work and are creative in their planning of activities.
There have been developments to the
outside areas and buildings which we appreciate. The children are engaging in Forest schools and are getting out to parks, museums, farms and elderly residential homes in recent months to broaden their experiences. The use of Tapestry has developed reporting, which along with daily feedback helps us keep in touch with how our son is doing. Recent introduction of an onsite kitchen means the children are benefiting from healthy fresh varied meals eaten communally which I really value. Most of all he is so happy to be there which is most valuable to me!

Since going to Strawberry Hill both my children have developed leaps and bounds. My son loves it and enjoys the interaction with all the children he is one, my 3-year-old girl has such bonds with the room leaders and has developed friendships. They hosted a Mother’s Day afternoon tea which was super
lovely to see my children in their nursery environment and to spend time with the practitioner and other mums.
I highly recommend the nursery they love your children like their own and encourage growth and development through play. My children love it so I love it.

Absolutely an amazing nursery, the staff are so lovely and treated all the kids like their own. My own son calls for them sometimes, so they must be doing something good. Recommend this nursery to anyone who wants the best childcare in Brighton.

This is a lovely, caring nursery in Fiveways, Brighton. Through renewed vision and pedagogy, the new manager is slowly transforming this nursery into a flourishing environment where children thrive. The development of children's social and creative skills are encouraged through a host of activities,
from messy crafts to sensory exploration. Although they don't currently have any services brought in to the nursery, the staff ensure children are constantly stimulated and entertained with just as much enthusiasm. The nursery has a home-school communication book and also use the online portal Tapestry. This is great for those days when you drop your child off wailing and log on to see pictures of your child busy and beaming away. They also have their own on-site catering providing healthy meals and snacks. They happily support and cater for baby-led weaning too, which is not as common as you would expect.
I would definitely recommend this nursery, my daughter is very happy here.

We are very happy with the care that Strawberry Hill is providing to our two kids. The eldest started attending this nursery almost three years ago and now also her little sister has happily joined it. The highlight for me is the staff, friendly and understanding. Since my first daughter joined the
nursery, the core staff has never changed, allowing us to know each of them and to build strong trust toward them.

My son has been really happy at Strawberry Hill for the past year. The staff genuinely care about the children and he has made some close bonds there. They offer a flexible service which is affordable and versatile. I love keeping up to date with his daily activities and development on "tapestry" and
they always offer further details when collecting him. I like that it is smaller than other nurseries and think that made settling in easier for him and now by 2, he knows all the teachers and children there. The nursery has been under new management and it's encouraging to see improvements are being made regularly.

We have had a very positive experience for both our children who joined over a year ago. The eldest has just left to start school and I have no doubt that one of the reasons that transition was so easy was the nurturing environment at Strawberry Hill which enabled my son to build his confidence. My
daughter absolutely loves nursery and is excited to go every morning. She talks about the staff who look after her and little friends very often. We have always liked the fact that it is a small and friendly nursery where all the kids know the staff from the different rooms, can play with children of all ages and build friendships. My children were able to play together at nursery if they wanted to. We have a good idea of how the day goes with an oral and written report. Tapestry is another great way for parents to get updates. The recent improvements (e.g. outdoor space renovated, kitchen) are great! The kids have often come home singing a new song or showing off a new skill.

Strawberry Hill has been an excellent transition for my 2 children, who previously had a childminder. They settled in very quickly and are very happy here. In the time they have attended there have been lots of positive developments such as the introduction of their own chef and kitchen. They offer
fun activities and lessons and have themed days, which are very much enjoyed. My children have also enjoyed a day out to the farm. Staff are very good and caring. Every day I collect my children they are happy and have enjoyed their day. I would highly recommend Strawberry Hill to other parents.

My son has been attending Strawberry Hill for nearly 2 years and has really enjoyed it there. The nursery came under new ownership in that time and more recently under new management and the improvements have been noticeable.

The outdoor space is great and has been upgraded and the staff are very

attentive, friendly and caring. The new on-site kitchen provides a range of different, healthy meals which have gone down better than much of my home cooking!

The manager has been very receptive to feedback and is keen to engage with parents.

My son attended Strawberry Hill for nearly 3 years, from just 1 year old to nearly 4 years old. We just left, as we relocated to another city, but I would strongly recommend this nursery. My son was so loved, cared for, and supported by the staff, who were really invested in his well-being. He has thrived
there, thanks to not only the wonderful individual members of staff, but also the lovely environment. It is a genuinely warm and happy place that encourages children to grow, learn, imagine, and discover. The manager is also very supportive and approachable and really listens if you have any concerns or questions. We were sad to leave Strawberry Hill; my son absolutely loved it there! I wish I could pick it up and put it in our new city.

My son has been attending Strawberry Hill for the last 3 years. I can honestly say the staff there made us feel right at home as a family. This eased the transition of going back to work and leaving our son in the care of others. The staff are attentive, caring and are aware of the individual needs
of the children. We have been extremely impressed by the nurturing and stimulating environment provided and have loved watching our son develop and thrive at Strawberry Hill. Over recent months, there have been some huge improvements, with the management, new kitchen and home cooked meals prepared on site. We cannot recommend Strawberry Hill enough and are grateful for the amazing care they provide.

Strawberry Hill Nursery has been a brilliant place where my little one has been looked after over the last 2 years. She took a few weeks to settle in, and the staff were very supportive and understanding. Since she has loved everyone who works there and looks after her. She's happy to go there when
I go to work and I know she will miss it when she goes to school. In the last past year, there has been a revamp of the place which is worth mentioning as it is looking really nice, new and clean.

I have recently relocated to Brighton with my son and was very eager to get him back into a great nursery. I was worried at first as to how he would be settling into a new area and having to start again in a new nursery setting.
However, my worries was put to rest when I visited the nursery and had
a look at how it was being run and getting a general idea of how the daily routine would be. The manager was so kind and understanding which was a great relief for me. Since my son started I have been amazed at how well he has settled in and I believe this to be testament to how amazing this nursery is. My son is happy here and so am I.

Thank-you to the manger and all the staff for welcoming my prince into your nursery.

Our daughter has been at Strawberry Hill since she was 10 months old and has always loved it there. She has been there for nearly 3 years now. Most of the staff have been there since when we started and our daughter has built up a great rapport with them all - as have we. She has made lots of great
friends, too. There is a real family feel to it. We’ll miss everyone when we start big school next year!
Over the years there have been a lot of improvements to the nursery. The new garden is lovely, we particularly like the mud kitchen and it’s great to have fresh meals cooked on site.
We’ve also loved the outings - making pizza and a trip to the farm!

Current Review Score: 8.8 (8.830)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.8 (8.830) out of 10 for Bear's House Nursery, Brighton is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 4 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.8 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 5.000 for Bear's House Nursery, Brighton is calculated as follows: ( (48 Excellents x 5) ) ÷ 48 Ratings = 5

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.83 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Bear's House Nursery, Brighton is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 44 number of registered child places is 8.8. 4 Positive Reviews ÷ 8.8 = 0.455

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
