Manor House Nursery is located in a purpose-built area within the grounds of the private, independent girls' school, Manor House School in Bookham.

The nursery school is open to boys and girls. There are two Nursery class rooms; a Nursery room and Kindergarten room, both of which are connected to an all-weather enclosed playground and adjacent to an Orchard Garden. This contains a much loved pirate ship and lots of climbing apparatus! Children benefit from Forest School, held in the beautiful grounds in the outdoor classroom, The Dell as well as lessons from specialist subject teachers in French, Music, Physical Education, Drama and Dance.

Nursery children are fortunate enough to be part of a vibrant and challenging whole school community where great emphasis is placed on outdoor learning.

Staff take a highly structured approach to each and every child so that they are able to progress, achieve and participate, using the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework with elements of Montessori practice.

The nursery offers extended holiday provision to families.

Why not go and see the Nursery School so that you can experience for yourself all that it has to offer?

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My youngest daughter joined the Nursery in September 2015 and her confidence and independence has grown steadily with each week. All the staff are enthusiastic and caring from the main Nursery staff to the music and drama teachers that come in weekly. It is always a warm and welcoming environment for
the children and parents and my daughter loves it.
The children are treated as individuals and I can see that each of my daughters needs are met.

The teaching is gently introduced through play and if they show more of an interest this is readily supported and encouraged. With an all weather outdoor play area, walks in the grounds and large classrooms we could not be happier. I also feel happy to know that with another year in Nursery she will be fully prepared for Reception in Sept 2017; knowing her phonics and will have the social skills to work and play with others.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My daughter (2 and a half years old) started at Manor House Nursery one month ago. We visited a number of nurseries in a 15 mile radius and this was by far the friendliest, warmest, and one with the best facilities (the benefits of being attached to a school with expansive grounds). The girls are given
many exciting and creative tasks (she comes back with paintings, collages, homemade necklaces, cooking, etc on a daily basis). I have no doubt that it is a very enriching and stimulating environment for her. The nursery staff are very approachable and caring, and my daughter is already very fond of them. The school have also been very accommodating and flexible in helping us find a schedule that works.

Lovely environment, smaller groups so good, one to one learning. Mix with older girls on some lessons/activities so helps with development and encourages girls to challenge themselves. Enjoying seeing and hearing the development progress my daughter is making. Also great flexibility in swapping days
adding sessions where possible. Lovely outdoor play area/grounds for exploring.

Current Review Score: 9.2 (9.217)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.2 (9.217) out of 10 for Manor House Nursery is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.2 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 5.000 for Manor House Nursery is calculated as follows: ( (70 Excellents x 5) ) ÷ 70 Ratings = 5
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.217 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Manor House Nursery is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 = 3.55
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 45 number of registered child places is 9. 6 Positive Reviews ÷ 9 = 0.667
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
