Little Acorns is a purpose-built, homely day nursery that works in close conjunction with Silverwood's Forest school. It is safely tucked away within the grounds of St Andrews school, giving that extra peace of mind when considering the safety and local environment surrounding the setting.

The official opening hours are 8 am-6 pm but many of the staff offer a privately arranged 'early drop' service from 7:30 am. So if you have a train to run for, they can help. Many of the staff also babysit so could be there to help out around the nursery hours, (this is a private arrangement between yourself and the staff).

They have 4 age groups and believe the differences between these age groups really matters. After all, there is a huge difference between a 6-month-old and a 2-year-old! That being said, they place children into the rooms based on each child's own personal development and stage, not just their age.

The Baby room starts at 3 months and goes up to 18 months.
The Tinies room starts at 18 months and goes up to 26 months.
The Toddler room starts at 26 months and goes up to 38 months.
The Pre-School starts at 38 months and finishes when your child leaves happy, confident and ready for school.

The staff at Little Acorns consider themselves so lucky to have a lot of wonderful outside space, with a dedicated garden for the Babies, a dedicated garden for the Tinies and a shared garden for the Toddlers and Pre-School. This allows the children to explore and play safely and also for the older children to be as boisterous as they need to be, with plenty of space and without the worry of the tiny ones getting hurt. They also have an area at the front of the nursery where Forest school sessions are held.

Staff like to keep all the children happy, learning and busy and have lots of wonderful activities day to day, but also enjoy some special extras such as Hart Beeps, Giggles & Wrinkles, pets & ponies.

  • Being in the school grounds means it's easy to stop and drop off and that you'll normally be fine to park directly outside the nursery itself. Other than busy school drop off and collection times when you'll need to use the car park slightly to the right of the nursery instead.

My daughter has been at Little Acorns since she was 6 months old and is now 3 years old, so in this sense, Little Acorns staff have become her second family. I say this because, like most families would, they have taken time to learn who she is as an individual and supported her personality to grow
into a confident and curious little girl. I always feel happy leaving her as I can see the warmth and safety she feels in her relationships with staff. I have been most impressed by her start at preschool. I really enjoy seeing the way staff make learning fun for them all. The children all seem to play well together. My child has never come home with any upsets about friendships. I believe this comes from the way staff are helping the children learn to share and care for each other. Management have also always been very professional and supportive when queries or information has been required.

My son has been with Little Acorns since he was a baby and he loves it, even over weekends he is asking to go to school and that it means a lot to us, the confidence he has gained is amazing.
Honestly, I cannot praise enough the staff there, they are an amazing team not only in charge of our child
safety and development but also in charge of our (parents) peace of mind as I can carry on with my day to day jobs knowing that my son is in the best hands ever.

My daughter has been to 3 nurseries from the age of 1 and this nursery is by far the best one. My daughter has been so happy attending Little Acorns. She comes home beaming with joy every time.
The teachers are fabulous, the level of communication from them about how my daughter is getting along day
to day is amazing.

My daughter has attended Little Acorns for many months, and my youngest son recently joined. I've been pleased with the care Little Acorns has provided for my children. Communication between the teachers, management, and myself has been pleasant, professional, informative, and timely. I enjoy viewing
pictures and videos of what the children are doing each day they attend. My children have learned many new skills since beginning at Little Acorns and continue to thrive in the exceptional learning/play environments. All the children get along nicely and the staff are quite nurturing to their unique needs. I have never noted any unsafe situations, and the conditions of the school areas inside and out are clean and sanitary. Any individual considering sending their child to Little Acorns can rest assured their child will be safe and well cared for.

This is a very good nursery with high standards. Nursery teachers are exceptional with children and my daughter really likes spending here time there. She has a Type 1 Diabetes and Little Acorns have accommodated perfectly to her needs. The nursery has plenty of outdoor space which is very important

My son has been attending since he was 14 months old and settled in immediately. There is a true family atmosphere at Little Acorns, whilst maintaining high professional standards. Every member of staff is invested in every child and nurtures their emotional, social and early years educational needs.
Little Acorns is not simply a day-care facility - I have watched my son flourish here.
As a parent, I have felt extremely well supported. The staff are experienced and have been helpful in helping me navigate the minefield that is a growing child. My son is currently in pre-school and due to start reception this year. I am extremely confident that he will make the transition to school with ease, not least since the early years education offered at Little Acorns has given him a head start. My son talks fondly of his 'teachers' and it is clear that he loves and respects them.
I would recommend Little Acorns without hesitation!

Our daughter has been at Little Acorns for almost two years, starting in baby room, via tinies and now toddlers. We were recommended the nursery by a friend and knew from our first look round that this was the right place to send our daughter. The rooms and gardens are great, with lots of exciting/interesting
toys to keep the children engaged. They always seem to do lots of Arts & Crafts, which our daughter loves. Forest School is another hit. The staff in each room have been, without exception, brilliant and look after the children so well. The low staff turnover rate speaks volumes and is really reassuring for us as parents. One of the best things for us is the app that’s updated during the day so we can always see what our daughter has been doing. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Little Acorns.

We have two very happy boys at Little Acorns. One in Baby Room and one who started in Baby Room and has made his way up to Pre-School. The staff are wonderful - caring, fun and engaging. They make every effort to ensure the children are happy and developing and raise concerns where necessary. We always
receive beautiful handmade pieces for Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Christmas, Valentine’s Day etc. made by the children. There are lots of activities on offer (pre COVID-19) eg forest school, music, visiting the local care homes, horses and animals visit the nursery etc. The outside space is fantastic and well stocked with everything to keep children busy. We have been very pleased with the phonics and education aspect too. We have had such a positive experience with Little Acorns and would highly recommend to anyone.

I have been a parent at Little Acorns for the past 6 years. Both my sons have thoroughly enjoyed their time and experiences at this nursery. However; the staff really make this nursery so special. The saying “to teach is to touch a life forever”- is certainly the case at Little Acorns. From the staff

Little Acorns is a lovely, family-like nursery in Cobham. Both of my daughters and a couple of their cousins have attended it. We could not be happier with the care and support they offer. If your child needs any extra support or attention, they will go up and beyond in providing it. My little one is
currently in Tinies room and is loving it, even with the COVID restrictions. Little Acorns are handling it very well with each group having a separate entrance and garden to play. Staff are absolutely fantastic on every level. There's hardly any turnover which really helps children to settle and makes them feel safe. They really are like the most loving, extended family. We are receiving photos and videos throughout the day from their daily activities. Outdoor play areas are great, separate for each group. Children there spend lots of time playing outside even on cooler days, which was a winner for us. Children really blossom at Little Acorns.

This nursery is fantastic. The care and attention given are exemplary. It’s in a really lovely, safe setting, also within the grounds of a school so extra secure.
Unlike other nurseries I viewed, it was the only one that had small age brackets for each class meaning it’s always a stimulating and safe
environment for little ones and the activities/resources in the rooms are targeted at each age group.
I get to see photos and videos throughout day on an app, there’s a daily report of everything from nappy changes, to how much they ate and slept.
They have their own cook making balanced fresh meals and a wonderfully varied menu. My daughter has a food allergy which they manage very well.
There’s loads of learning through play, arts, crafts, lots of active and outdoor play too. There is also now extra forest school sessions available that my 3-year-old loves!
Has multiple gardens set up for various age groups. Both my kids adore going there, I cannot praise the amazing passionate staff enough!

I can’t say enough wonderful things about Little Acorns and especially the staff there!
With bags of outside space and the forest school, it was a no brainer for us. Knowing it’s not a part of a chain was really important for me and my husband and the owner is really involved and present having been
a nursery nurse herself and also having children of her own.
My daughter has loved every room she’s been in so far and the photo and video updates throughout the day are just wonderful! I love that there is a stop-gap between babies and Toddlers.
We love all the activities they do and my little girl can not wait to join in with forest school next. It’s easy to misjudge the nursery from the outside but I suggest you go and see for yourself before deciding. It’s got a lovely family feel and beautiful rooms.
