My son attended the nursery from the baby room all through to preschool. He really enjoyed his time at the nursery and all the staff really helped his confidence grow, so he was ready to start school. He really enjoyed the outdoor area where he spent most of his time throughout the summer.
Wonderful nursery. My daughter started, full-time, when she was nine months and the baby room staff were incredible. I could not fault anything about their care, their communication, their flexibility, their activities and the general atmosphere of this nursery. My daughter loved going every single day. The thought, imagination and effort that the staff go to, to give the children the best start, opportunities and experiences is second to none! The messy play, the outside visits, the garden, the painting, the themed days and events - it is all just fantastic for a growing child to experience. My daughter has now moved up to the 2-3 group and is still loving it. I was nervous about her going up as she loved the baby room so much, but she has settled in so well - even in a pandemic! The communication between nursery, the YMCA group and parents during the covid issues has been great and really appreciated. I am so so pleased I picked this nursery. Thoroughly recommend.
Being an anxious first-time mum finding a nursery that not just suited our daughter but for us too was a big deal, as soon as we walked in the door to look around we automatically felt at ease and relaxed. The staff are fantastic warm and welcoming and genuinely care about the children in their care. Our daughter loves her days in the nursery and she's come on leaps and bounds. The nursery is clean, well organised and couldn't recommend enough.
My son started nursery at 8-months (in 2018) and absolutely loves it. The staff are all so helpful, and my son has a good relationship with all of them. They do a good range of activities and lots of outside time, which my little one really enjoys. Communication is always really good, and nothing is too much trouble. They made going back to work a lot easier.
After looking around at placements whilst I was 38-weeks pregnant this one just stood out, space indoors and outdoors is amazing, so much room, lots to do! My little boy has been attending since he was 9.5months old and is now 2.5years old, he adores all the staff and has an amazing bond with his key person. The staff go above and beyond, nothing is ever to much trouble. My son is happy, so I am happy. Definitely would recommend this to anyone!
My daughter has been going here since she was 1-year and 9-months. Even though she only does 2 afternoons, she loves it. They have helped a lot with her speech. Even her cousin is due to start here soon. The staff are lovely, would highly recommend.
Genuinely can’t fault it. Warm, caring staff, great outside space, and clear, regular communication. My son is there full-time, and he loves it and has made great friends. Have used them from 4-months to 4-years-old.
When my daughter had her settling in sessions, I was extremely nervous due to COVID and her not mixing with many people. The staff soon reassured me, and my daughter blossomed.
I’m so pleased I picked this nursery from day one, and if I have any more children in the future, I will be sure to send them here.
Thank you for everything YMCA.
My daughter has been attending this nursery for the past two years, and she loves it! On the days she’s not going, she seems genuinely disappointed. They have been a great support throughout her time with them, and especially during covid, and allowing me to continue to work in my key role. The food is great, and they seem to get up to all sorts during the day, including walks and lots of outdoors fun. They keep parents involved and engaged all the time with home learning and picture updates. The staff and manager are fabulous, and I feel completely at ease giving them the care of my child.
My daughter attends this nursery. The staff are amazing and have helped to make my daughter more confident. My oldest daughter also attended who has disabilities. The staff and as a whole made me feel like I am not alone when it comes to disability or children with extra needs. YMCA's outdoor space is extremely helpful for the children. The activities are always child-led. I couldn’t have sent my children to a better school. All the staffing team go above and beyond to make sure us, as parents, know exactly how our child/ren are doing. Thank you all for your help and support.
Our son has been at the YMCA since he was 7-months-old and is now 4. He adores everyone there who supports him, has grown massively in confidence and has a wealth of friends. The nursery is in constant communication with full briefs at the end of each day. He’s treated as an independent person, not just another child. Everyone knows him well, and he’s respected. No one is precious about getting muddy, and he always leaves with a smile on his face. I’m looking forward to him branching out to school in September, but these people spend more time with him than anyone else he knows, and they’re such a big part of his life, part of us doesn’t want to move on!
My son started in the babies room when he was 8-months-old and has loved nursery so far. The activities are always excellent with lots of opportunities for messy play, and he is always on the go in the pictures I have seen of him! He always has a good sleep when he comes home, which I take as a good sign he’s had a very active and enjoyable day. Thank you to baby room staff for providing such an exciting, homely atmosphere and the best care!
The fees are reasonable and affordable. 5-star service!
My daughter started at the YMCA at 9-months after I returned from mat leave, and is now three and a half in preschool. She absolutely loves it, and so do I! The staff have been amazing all the way through, and their outside space is incredible! She is my only child, and I very much want the best for her, and this is certainly what we got! I cannot fault the nursery at all. The menu is fab, and I know my daughter is very well looked after. The staff genuinely care about my child and have supported her learning through every milestone! Every day she asks to go to the nursery, and I would recommend to anyone. Well done YMCA Newport!
My daughter is 3.5 years old, and currently attends the nursery and has done since she was 1. From when she started, up until now, I have been very happy with the professional service they provide. She is so happy and confident to attend and has a great relationship with the staff. She loves the outdoor area and the fun exciting activities she can do there.
My review of YMCA Nursery is a good one from the moment my husband and I looked into nursery/pre-school for our two boys. I am a 1st time, older mum and looking at places was hard and emotional and my anxiety levels were through the roof but the staff at YMCA Newport went beyond the call of duty and put us all at ease. Nothing was too much trouble. The boys enjoyed their stay and plays through lockdown we were kept up to date with the whole time. WELL DONE!
My son currently attends YMCA, they have a fantastic outside area and good indoor provision. The staff who look after the children are friendly and engaging. They are approachable if I have any concerns or queries. My only criticism is the food which my view is very expensive, especially as there is no option of taking in a packed lunch. My daughter's school dinner costs £1.05 less and I know she eats a lot more than my son. Even the afternoon tea is overpriced.
In April 2017 I placed my two children into the YMCA nursery st Newport IOW. I was really impressed with the staff and the outside open space for the kids to play in. However, every month my partner and I have had real problems with the admin/finance side of this business. Every month the invoices we have been sent have been wrong, with them over charging us for child care we never received. Today we received an invoice for £1200, my partner was totally horrified and again had to spend some of her rare down time to work out the true cost, which was £566.
For this reason, I will be looking for another nursery, which is a shame as my children seem to enjoy it there. They like the staff and the activities but the stress of trying to fix their invoicing problems every month is not worth it.I have also been sent an information letter via e mail, this letter had so many spelling mistakes on it that it did not make sense, which raises the question what people are running this business.
