Sunhill Royston is a welcoming setting located in the heart of the community. The setting follows a Montessori approach to education, which prioritises the growth and development of each child, in a supportive and engaging space designed for them to learn and thrive.

Children can enjoy a spacious environment, with free flow access to the garden space and a plethora of resources and activities designed to promote development and engage children each day. With a focus on child-led activities, the team spend time getting to know the children they care for in order to promote experiences that complement their personalities and encourage them to follow their natural curiosities.

With the environment in mind, this organic-enhanced nursery ignites curiosity, sparks creativity, and promotes well-being. Children enthusiastically participate in nurturing plants, caring for their growth, and harvesting their own produce, gaining essential knowledge about plant life, a variety of fruits and vegetables, and culinary skills.

My daughter absolutely loves Sunhill Day Nursery - so many fun activities every day and lots of messy play. I love that the kids spend a lot of time outside, and the meals are great and all freshly prepared. The staff are very welcoming, and everyone is very caring.

My son has attended Sunhill for the past two years. He is very happy at the nursery and enjoys his time there. As with most nurseries, there have been some high turnover rates of staff which I felt could have been communicated more effectively - especially around key workers, other than this, I am happy
with the nursery overall.

Sunhill is lovely. The staff are all wonderful and truly care. Management is efficient, and communication is very clear.
Meals are varied and nutritious.
The outdoor space is lovely and well-utilised.
Well-structured days and the children learn and have fun.

My baby is super happy there and always comes back home calm and content. We receive comms during the day with his activities, and we can see his learning on a daily basis.
The staff is fantastic, loving and caring. They made it comfortable for me to go back to work. One lady was so amazing with my
baby and made me feel reassured everything was ok. Thank you!
The management is always ready to help and adjust to the family's needs. I recently had to amend his attendance days due to my new job, and the manager was amazing. Thank you!
We’re very happy with Sunhill and definitely recommend it.

Overall happy with the care my daughter receives at the nursery.
The app doesn’t get updated as much as I would like, and I’m unsure of how much actual learning goes on, feel like the children are just left to their own devices to play with the toys in the room rather than structured play and educational
activities.
My daughter is also very hungry when I collect her and I am told she always has 2 helpings so assuming the portion sizes are not adequate. All in all, feel safe dropping my daughter there.

Our issues at Sunhill stem from dealing with the management, which was always difficult. Communication was poor and it felt like we got blamed when something went wrong in their system, especially around financial matters, which were often muddled and disorganised. We felt on several occasions that
the service manager was rude to us for no reason.
Our child's keyworker was particularly good and probably kept us at Sunhill longer than we'd have otherwise stayed. The other room staff were often good too, so it was not all awful.
We were keen for our child to be in a setting without screens, as was the case at Sunhill when we signed up. At some point, with no discussion, a very large tablet/TV appeared in the rooms and the children now spend a lot of time playing on it and getting it to read them stories, rather than human interaction. Since we left Sunhill we have found a much more welcoming and efficiently run nursery in Royston. We get great daily updates and communication.

On the whole, very happy with the nursery and the care they provide our little boy. He seems to enjoy himself and is always happy to see his key person in the room when I drop him off. The team are happy to give feedback on his day when I pick him up and is quick to contact me if there is ever an issue.
My only comment would be whether the portions of food are enough, as I do find myself having to give breakfast before and a snack after I've collected him, otherwise, he is extremely hungry.

We have been really happy with the care provided by this nursery. The staff in our child’s room are brilliant and always greet us with a smile. The manager is very good and is always happy to help with any enquiries we might have.
We have only rated ‘good’ as there does seem to be an issue with staffing,
and twice in the last three months, our child hasn’t been able to attend for this reason.

Good nursery, lately a little understaffed. Some issues with the parent app; it's generally not updated enough. The Montessori approach for older kids maybe not challenging enough in regards to learning, but very good care settling otherwise.

My daughter started the nursery at six months and has settled in really well. The staff in her room are lovely, and she smiles whenever she sees them. Her development has moved on a lot since she has been there, and I can see how much so loves playing with the staff and other children. She also loves
the food! The manager is also lovely and so understanding of any concerns or questions.

My son absolutely loves coming into nursery and is always happy to walk into his room in the morning and has such a bond with his keyworker. He had gone in leaps and bounds, and his confidence has grown since moving up into the room he’s in now. Getting photos and updates from him almost every day he’s
in (sometimes more than one!) It is always an absolute highlight and gives me such an insight into his day. The staff are brilliant at keeping the app up to date, which is so helpful, and we are absolutely gutted to be leaving this term!

Overall, the experience has been good so far. The staff are very passionate, and I really appreciate the use of the app. The only thing for improvement is the fact that we need to keep taking days off work due to short of staff in the nursery.

Both my girls enjoy going to nursery so much; they swiftly settled into such a happy and caring environment. You get the feeling staff do really enjoy their job. There are regular updates on activities, both group activities and individually, through the app and weekly newsletter, and the key worker
is always happy to chat at pick up/drop off.

The staff at Sunhill have made my daughters time at the nursery so enjoyable, safe and welcoming.
She looks forward to nursery and is always happy at pick up.
I cannot fault the management team; they are always available and responsive to any question or request.

My daughter absolutely loves Sunhill. She's very close to her Keyworker, and I feel she is getting great care when she is there.
They are prepping her for school starting in September, and I'm most impressed with what she is learning.

We have been very happy with the care our child has received whilst at the nursery. The staff members have always been very helpful, and I feel like they know our child very well. We get daily updates through the app about what has been served at mealtimes and how much our child has eaten along with
every nappy change. We get pictures of activities they have been doing, and a weekly newsletter keeps us up-to-date about what they have been learning. At the end of the month, we get a summary of the observations, which have been carried out each week.
The always menu looks really good, and the food we would be happy to eat ourselves. The rooms are well laid out with everything at child level, and the garden has lots of age-appropriate toys for each class. It is lovely to be able to go inside the classrooms now that the restrictions have been relaxed.

Staff ensured that she is settling well and kept us informed frequently.
She is well looked after and is great that you can check virtually her daily activity.

I am very pleased with the nursery. The manager is fantastic and is dealing with her staff very well. My daughter is very happy in the nursery, she has been going there for more than 3-years now. Food is cooked freshly every day with very healthy options. I would highly recommend this nursery.

The nursery and staff are great, my daughter loves attending. However, as new bookings are now restricted to 8 am-1 pm, 1 pm-6 pm or 8 am-6 pm, I would be unable to recommend the nursery, or send any of my future children there.
