Second Steps have been amazing, my son started when he was just 11 months old and is absolutely thriving. His confidence his speech, his physical ability to do things has just come on leaps and bounds. The nursery staff have also been very supportive when we have gone through difficult times as a family and we truly couldn't ask for more. My son is happy to spend time there and address his key workers which gives us peace of mind and helps with the mum guilt of having to work full time. Thank you SS!! We will definitely send our youngest here.
I cannot recommend Second Steps enough! I know we made the right decision for our son to attend nursery here - the staff are all so kind, friendly and capable, and they truly do care so much. My son has additional needs and they have gladly stepped up at every opportunity to ensure he is fully supported. I can go to work knowing he is having the best day and is in safe hands!
My son has been at Second Steps nursery since May 2025. The nursery staff are fantastic, provide great care and have really invested in his development. They are responsive, give thorough updates and always have a range of activities happening in his room. I would recommend the nursery to other parents.
They keep parents updated about my child's daily activities and the child's development. They also arrange follow-up sessions to review a child's progress.
All staff are very friendly and supportive, thank you!
I would highly recommend the nursery to anyone thinking about sending their children there.
My child has been attending Second Steps for 14 months. We viewed various nurseries and Second Steps stood out a lot. My child has always enjoyed attending which is clearly reflective of his experience. The staff are extremely personable and all know him by name, even those who work across other classes. His care is always thought of, we have always been kept informed of his day and contacted with any health concerns. I particularly appreciate the attention to detail, recently an example of this is the nursery ordering in a cleaning set and facilitating his imaginative play with it.
Second Steps staff have been so helpful with our son's allergies and helping him settle in. They always go above and beyond with the care of our children. My daughter loves the staff.
I'm feeling so happy with how well my child is getting on. She loves nursery and always talks about her teachers and going in the garden. Her speech has also come along so well.
We absolutely love Second Steps Day Nursery and so does my child and she is always so happy to come. We love receiving all the updates throughout the day, seeing what she gets up to and enjoying her day with her friends. She has also come on leaps and bounds since being there and we couldn't be more proud.
When the girls started everyone was super friendly and helpful to settle in. The girls have both achieved a lot since starting. They are also supportive of potty training etc.
My daughter is well looked after and she enjoys coming in every time. She is learning a lot in prep for reception. The nursery offer a wide range of meals, which she enjoys as well. Staff are friendly, approachable and informative. I would like to see more of the work/tasks she does - maybe as a scrapbook. I know the setting use an app to inform parents of observations, which is great! But, due to safeguarding, most posts I can't see her and general to all children.
I'm very happy with this nursery. The staff offer a friendly, caring approach to looking after my daughter. The daily activities help to develop my daughter's learning as well as lots of free playtime.
Both management and the childcare team have been fantastic in settling my little one into attending one day a week. The staff are approachable and friendly, with the child's care being the most important concern. My little one has struggled to settle, so additional support has been offered, which has taken a huge weight off my mind. I have really struggled leaving my little one crying and reaching out for me on every drop-off, plus he is very emotional throughout the day. I have had terrible anxiety rushing to pick him up, so the extra support will hopefully calm him down. As a mum leaving my little one for the first time with non-family, the initial settle-in sessions gave me confidence that he would be well cared for. Thank you, in particular, to management and the key team. As well as everyone who has given him cuddles when he's been upset - I really appreciate it.
He absolutely loves it; bought him out of his shell and is really helping with his social skills.
Taking that extra time to help him be included in play as he’s very shy and autistic; nothing is too much for the ladies in his care, and he is absolutely besotted with them. They have really helped me and him through a difficult time earlier this year and understand how I want to parent, so he’s got the same level of parenting at home and at nursery.
They are encouraged in imaginative play coupled with learning opportunities eg, considering the weight of the billy goats gruff compared to the troll etc.
They are encouraged to consider the environment and do gardening and grow plants in pots, which has made my child very enthusiastic to help her dad grow plants in our garden.
The staff are all lovely, and my child has formed close bonds with them and enthusiastically talks about them.
I was initially worried about leaving my child to go to work, but Second Steps has put my fears to rest, and I’m glad I’m sending my child there as she’s learning and socialising and is a very happy and confident little girl with lots of friends.
My daughter comes home every day talking about the staff and what she has been up to.
I would highly recommend this nursery.
