Rated 'Good' by Ofsted in July 2025 Finchampstead Day Nursery offers childcare to children from the age of three months.

The nursery offers two rooms: the Nest Room caters for up to eighteen children aged three months to two years, while the Pioneers /Pre-School Room provides space for up to thirty-six children aged two years and up. Each room has individual outdoor play areas, enabling free flow access.

Freshly cooked meals and snacks are provided, using high-quality, fresh ingredients. Children are encouraged to participate in the preparation of snacks and meals to allow them to express individual preferences and help them learn about healthy eating.

The experienced staff team show a real understanding and love of teaching and caring for young children. Each child and their family is allocated a 'key person' - a qualified, experienced early years practitioner - so that the child can form an attachment which will aid in their development.

Both of my children (4 and 2) have attended this nursery for the last year and a half. I visited numerous nurseries before deciding on this nursery as I was new to the area and the main reason I chose it was a combination of the family atmosphere, friendliness and professionalism that you will find.
Both of my children absolutely love going to nursery every day and this is down to the staff who go the extra mile to ensure the children are engaged and happy and at the same time teaching key skills that will help them when they transition to school.
The nursery staff are extremely accommodating and always happy to help with any request. I love the extra activities they do such as French lessons and all of the wonderful artwork they bring home! I highly recommend this nursery both for babies and pre-schoolers and I am very happy with my decision to send my children there. My advice is to go see for yourself!

My son has been attending the nursery for six months. He was tearful in the mornings during the first couple of months but now he cannot wait to go in and give his little friends a hug. The staff are brilliant with the children, very calm, kind, approachable and reassuring. My little one is very happy
there, he loves all the activities and enjoys lunchtime - quite often has seconds and even eats his veggies. Something amazing and truly magical happening in there.

As a new parent, I was quite nervous selecting a nursery for my daughter, however, as soon as I visited Finchampsted Day Nursery I knew it was right for us.
The staff were so welcoming to her and us and the facilities and meals looked excellent. My daughter has now been in the nest room at the nursery
for 6 months and she has absolutely loved it! Her development has been fantastic and she has learnt so much since she has been there, in fact, most days she doesn't want to leave!
She loves the French sessions every Wednesday and asks for the songs at home, which we can play to her on the YouTube channel. It is great that we can see the regular updates on the Parent Zone app and see pictures of what activities she gets up to and what lovely food she has eaten that day. The staff are very friendly and approachable regarding any concern or question we may have. We are very pleased with Finchampsted Day Nursery and would definitely recommend.

Myself and my wife are both really pleased we moved our daughter to Finchampstead Nursery. All the nursery staff are fantastic and her key worker is wonderful. She is calm, considered, very knowledgeable and professional, and most of all patient, which is exactly what our daughter needs. We love the
feedback we receive at pick up about her day and the photos and updates on the app. Also the fact we drop her off and pick her up from the same people. Also that she runs in without looking back.
Our daughter started in September with possible glue ear, and limited speech only saying a few words. Then yesterday we attended her Christmas concert and saw her sing a number of songs, it was amazing.
They are doing a superb job and I am really impressed and it is a wonderful, loving and caring environment. I certainly recommend the nursery to others. Also, it's so helpful with our other child being at the school next door for convenience of drop offs.

My daughter has been at the nursery for 18months now and absolutely loves it so much so, that she often doesn’t want to leave when I collect her. This says a lot about the staff. She has a close bond with her key worker and a lot of the other staff as well.

children in the Nest have just started to learn French which is great.

My daughter has attended Finchampstead Day Nursery since September 2018. I was worried about her settling in as this was her first time being away from family, however the staff have been brilliant in helping her settle so quickly. All staff members are very patient, kind and understanding. The online
parent app is brilliant at being updated with photos and stories letting me know how she gets on daily. My daughter loves the forest school sessions once a week and has learnt so much in the short time she has been there.
I would definitely recommend Finchampstead Day Nursery and would definitely send my second child there too!

My son moved here a month ago and is already more settled and happy than he was at his previous nursery which he went to for more than a year.


He is always so happy going and loves his keyworker.


Lovely outdoor area and they go between rooms a lot which will help when he moves up a room.

My son loves his time at this nursery, he cant get out of the car quick enough!

Both my children have attended this nursery, one previously in the pre-school and one currently in the baby room. The staff have always been so amazing with both the children and parents and I have always felt 100% confident that my little ones were in safe hands. My toddler absolutely loves his time
here and has formed a great connection with his wonderful key workers. They have some amazing new facilities and fantastic outside space and he is always learning something new as activities are really varied. Plus its right next door to my daughter's school which couldn't be more convenient! They have a close relationship with the school, which made my daughter's transition from pre-school to big school very easy. Overall, I can't fault it and we're very happy here.

I have sent 3 of my children to this nursery, they have an exceptional relationship with the children, their understanding and support to the children and the parents are second to none. My last little one is leaving in July this year to start primary school and I will miss the whole team dearly. They

This is my second child to attend this nursery and I couldn't recommend it enough.

My daughter started last September for 2 and a half years. She is very shy and has always been with me. The staff were brilliant and very understanding, always there to support me. I have had no issues with the staff/nursery. My child has learnt a lot, she is very happy going in.

My daughter has attended for 3.5 years since she was 12 months old, always enjoys her time there, Sunshine room and the Rainbow room. The best feature is the quality of the staff. The team is a great mixture of younger and very experienced staff, many of whom are also parents. This gives the nursery
a great perspective for my child. They have a wealth of experience from their childcare training and personal experience. My daughter loves the home cooked meals too, often having seconds. The outside space was always the one thing I had reservations about (my son's nursery had 2 acres for him to explore) however the changes made in the last year have made a huge difference and expanded the learning areas into the outside, making the most of the space they do have. Something else new is the French lesson, my daughter comes home saying 'Bonjour' with such pride she is convinced she can now speak French.

My son is very happy at the Finchampstead Day Nursery. The staff are the nursery's key asset - the majority of them are very experienced, being mother's themselves and having worked in childcare for many years.
They are attentive, caring, gentle and fun. I couldn't sing the praises of my son's keyworker
enough. My son struggles to settle in the morning and she is brilliant at helping him to feel secure and distracting him from his sadness.
The nursery are also very good at gently preparing my son for school - learning letters, numbers and getting a chance to practise his early writing skills.
The staff regularly update his progress and his daily activities on the online Tapestry system. Its brilliant being able to see for myself what my son gets up to, what he says and how happy he is.
The outdoor facilities at the nursery have been improved significantly recently and with the addition of French classes and trips the woods to explore, there is plenty to keep my son very busy and happy!

Overall I have been extremely happy with the nursery. After experiencing bereavement the nursery, especially my son's key worker, have been fantastic in maintaining a stable, fun and nurturing environment for him. The new facilities and experiences that are now on offer are brilliant and I will be sad
to see him leave in the summer but have full confidence all staff will do a great job at preparing the children for the start of school in September.

The care my daughter receives at Bluebird is excellent. She enjoy's coming to nursery and she is happy with her key worker. Every member of staff both myself and my daughter speak to and come into contact with are so happy and cheerful. They are extremely calm and patient which is very helpful with
my daughter. As far as the invoicing of sessions, however, I find them confusing, despite asking about them I am frustrated by a lack of accessible communication about the invoices E.g Email only and delays in replying.

Our little boy's key person is the best I have encountered - a wealth of experience, has a real interest in your child's welfare and development and a genuine passion for the job.
The nursery environment has been significantly improved and the new outdoor area has really brought this area back to
life - the children love it.

Working with children has been along lifelong passion. Sandra worked in her daughter's nursery as a parent helper. She enjoyed this so much and decided to go to college. She has a lot of experience working with different age groups, attending different training courses, and she loves to see staff excel in their field.
