Our son attended Kindred Shortlands the last 9 months. Seeing the warmth of the staff towards the children helped settle our early nerves. Every morning we dropped him off knowing that he will be taken good care of and it gives us immense joy to see how far he has come. He joined as a shy toddler and
graduated as a confident pre-schooler. We would definitely recommend Kindred to any parents looking for a safe and loving nursery to leave their little ones in.

Kindred is a brilliant nursery, the staff are really caring and kind. My daughter is very happy coming to nursery and enjoys eating the food. The nursery is very clean and they have very good learning recourses for the children.

Very caring nursery, good facilities and really nice outdoor space. My child always seems happy with his day when he gets home. They are creative with the activities they do and encourage free play also so has a nice balance with some structure.


If I had to give an improvement point, I would say

that the updates from the week could be better, sometimes there are a couple of weeks where we do not receive any written feedback or photos to show what the children have been doing. It would be good to receive something weekly, and even better something daily but I know that may be harder. There is an app that is updates so we can see when fed, slept and eaten, but would love to hear and see a bit more.

My daughter started at Kindred Shortlands almost 12 months ago and we're extremely pleased with our choice. The best I can describe them as, is an extension of our family; I feel they care and look after her as if she was a child of their own, taking an interest in her and her interests. They're flexible
and pragmatic too, which is helpful given we're both in full time work and have no family nearby. She loves going and has been really settled there. We love the updates and can really see she is thriving. Thank you to the manager and team!

We've had a great experience with Kindred Shortlands. Our daughter loves it there and the staff are very caring. I feel completely secure that she is in safe hands every day. I just wanted to share my thoughts on my son's nursery. Overall, everything has been great! The staff is caring, and the environment is nurturing. My son loves going there every day. However, I think it would be beneficial if they could dedicate a bit more time to teaching the kids new skills and concepts.
That said, I'm really happy with his experience so far!

Our son has always loved going to Kindred Shortlands Nursery since his time in the baby room. He comes back home with a smile and is excited for the next day.
He has plenty of opportunities to play outdoors, get messy and creative and learn valuable everyday life skills. We always feel heard and included
in his development planning.
The staff at Kindred Shortlands are not only friendly but also very flexible. When our little boy experienced some health issues last year, we received support beyond our expectations. I cannot overestimate how much help it was for managing our daily routines.
In terms of the setup, the place is spacious and full of character with great facilities for each room. The food is delicious and freshly made on-site. I can wholeheartedly recommend Kindred Shorthands to other parents.

Our two children are going to Kindred Shortlands, the eldest being in preschool. He transferred from another nursery and was noticeably happier here at Kindred. Staff turnover is low and you get to know and trust the educators who are very friendly and cheerful.
We also appreciate the family atmosphere
of the place. The parties they organise for children and parents several times a year are a lot of fun for everyone. The food is prepared on-site and the children love it. Unlike some other places, it doesn’t feel like a large group with a more corporate identity, but a smaller, personable and friendly nursery.
We have recommended this nursery to our friends, grateful for how settled our children have become.

I’ve got my two boys at Kindred Shortlands including an 8-month-old baby and we all love it. They both settled straightaway, even when my eldest changed nursery at 2.5 years old because of our house move. The staff makes all the difference, everyone is so lovely and caring. I can’t recommend them enough.

Over the years we have experienced different nursery settings for our children. We’ve learnt a lot as to what is really important and Kindred Shortlands has it. We had no hesitation in sending our youngest son along to the nursery at Shortlands, many of the team have been in place for years and did a great job with our eldest 5 years earlier! Our youngest started in the baby section and the staff made it easy for him to settle in and get used to the new environment.
He has now moved into the toddler section and this was a seamless transition for him as the staff in both units worked together to make it easy. He loves going into the nursery and makes a point of cuddling all the staff as he goes in each morning, which is a great reflection on everyone who works there.

Our little one has attended Sunnyfields for well over two years and loves going every day. The staff are all really kind and clearly care a lot for the children. The staff are really helpful and go out of their way to accommodate additional requests. We will be sad to leave when it’s time for school
in September.

Really love this nursery. We’ve used three other nurseries for our child care; one quite fancy looking, one quite basic and now Sunnyfields. The staff here are cheerful and bright; they talk to you as a parent in a human way, whereas elsewhere, we found hand-overs pretty robotic/copy-paste or unreliably
vague. They really engage with our son and take the time to show him all sorts of new things to do and foods to taste. For us, the place is full of heart, our son skips in each day, and I couldn’t recommend it strongly enough.

Job Title: Nursery Manager

Hello, my name is Lisa, and I am the Nursery Manager at Kindred Shortlands. I have been working in the Early Years since 2001 and have worked at this nursery since 2013 where I started as the Deputy Manager before becoming Manager in 2016. I hold a Level 3 Diploma & NVQ in Early Years Care and Education and both a Level 3 & 5 in Management and Leadership.


I have a real passion for Early Years and the importance of creating an environment where the children are happy, confident, thriving and inspired through ‘awe and wonder’ while also creating strong parent partnerships where a parent/carer feels part of their child’s journey with us and are confident leaving their children.


Also important to me and alongside my staff team is creating a homely feel for the children and their families as well as a working environment for the staff team where all are welcomed to be their individual selves and are encouraged and supported to achieve their career goals.

Hi, I'm Nasima, and I started work at Kindred Shortlands in August 2025.


I have been working in the Early Years sector since 2011. During this time, I have progressed from a Level 3 practitioner into more senior roles in various nurseries and now as the Deputy Manager at Kindred Shortlands.


I have had the pleasure of working with all age groups from babies and toddlers up to pre-school children. Throughout my career, I have gained valuable skills and enjoy working with children of all ages. I find it deeply rewarding to watch them grow and thrive and develop their own personalities. I also have a passion for creating a nurturing, supportive and engaging environment where each child can flourish.


I enjoy being in the company of children, and I have two of my own, and from this personal experience, I know how important it is as a parent to work in partnership with the setting. Having this knowledge has led me to enjoy establishing close parent partnerships through organising many opportunities for parents to get involved in their own children's nursery experiences.
