Our daughter had a wonderful two years at Little Cherubs! She started at age 1 and continued until her 3rd birthday. It's such a warm, nurturing and friendly nursery with a real family atmosphere. She always came home with a smile on her face. Great updates from the team via the app and at pickup.

My son has loved all aspects of little cherubs. from singing french songs, to doing yoga, to playtime in the garden, to story time, building blocks, dancing and making jokes with the staff. He has been there since he was 9 months and his experience has really shaped him into the little boy he is today - thoughtful, caring, excited about new experience, listening, and insisting he picks his own books from the local library. I am so grateful for the time and attention that the whole team put into all aspects of the day to shape them into wonderful confident toddlers. I had to burst out laughing when he asked for a snack and I just grabbed a packet of crips from the cupboard and my son replied "mummy this is not healthy. i would like a healthy snack, like I have at nursery" ... many endearing moments/photos captured by the staff so that I can still feel part of his day, even though he is at nursery. It is clear it is not just a job for the team.

Thank you for the review! We're thrilled to hear our healthy eating teachings are being applied with such great comic timing. It was truly a privilege to have him with us, and the team absolutely loved his sense of humour.

It has been such a joy seeing our daughter happy and flourish at Little Cherubs. She started in the baby room and went through to preschool. Little Cherubs is a caring and fun environment, and has a family feel. There are a range of extra activities that support children's learning from French to drama, yoga and trips to the farm and panto!

Our daughter has loved every single second of her time at Little Cherubs, and we've loved seeing her grow up there from baby to school starter. All the team have been absolutely incredible, and given her so much love, joy, education and stimulation. The manager and another member of staff have run the place with an amazing level of care and attention, and we've always felt she's so safe and looked after. A few specific members of staff and everyone else have been such superstars. We feel so lucky that our daughter spent the last 4 years at Little Cherubs and so pleased she'll be starting school with so many close friends who've grown up by her side.

What a fantastic nursery this is. I'd recommend Little Cherubs to anybody looking for a safe, friendly, and supportive environment for their little ones. Our daughter started out in the baby room at just 10 months old and the staff were absolutely amazing at getting her settled in - which made my return to work so much easier! She is now almost 2 and is absolutely thriving in the toddler room. We're always kept up to date with their day to day activities via the app, including a log of their sleep, nappies, and all of the delicious food that they've eaten. The staff really do go above and beyond with the activities that they set out for them! Our son is due to start there in Autumn this year and I couldn't think of anywhere else I'd want to send him.

We have had a fantastic experience at Little Cherubs Day Nursery. My son attended the pre-school room and settled in very quickly which is a testament to the staff as he is quite apprehensive in new environments. I've seen him grow in confidence which has prepared him well for primary school.
The nursery's facilities are excellent, and there are some great classes, celebrations and excursions organised by the nursery which my son really enjoyed.

I highly recommend Little Cherubs to any parent!

Little Cherubs Shortlands is a wonderful nursery with a true family feel. My three daughters went there over the course of 7 years and we couldn't have found a better nursery in the area! My youngest daughter started there at the age of 8 months and has progressed through toddler room and pre-school. The staff in all rooms really care and pay attention to children's character- all three of mine were shy but have come out of their shell and thrived there through stimulating activities, kind care and attention!
Additional praise goes to management who ensure a strong family feel and that everything is run smoothly. The food is cooked on-site and is healthy and nutritious.

Thank you to everyone at Little Cherubs! We will be back next year!

This is an excellent nursery with longstanding staff that go out of their way to form meaningful relationships with the children.
My son started as a young baby and graduated at the end of pre-school. He was a challenging baby, but the staff persevered and built a close and loving relationship with him. The baby room is small with very experienced staff (shout out to one staff member!). Having this level of care was much valued during lockdown when we had no access to people beyond our immediate family unit. As he grew older the team fostered his interests delivering far beyond what you might expect for a nursery/preschool.

Day-to-day experiences included specialist sports teachers, French teachers and dance teachers. I was amazed by what my son learnt from them. The nursery also delivers experiences for the kids and families like Christmas parties, Christmas nativity, trips to farms and forest school. They definitely went above and beyond exemplified by the graduation ceremony at the end.

My son has really thrived at this fantastic nursery. Staff are very caring and the management runs it all extremely well. Staff turnover is very low and my son has formed an incredible bond with his key worker, who we are very fond of and will miss dearly when he leaves for school. I've been particularly impressed by how they have got my son ready and excited for school - support for parents on this front has been fantastic too. My son loves the food and leaves clean plates every day - it's all cooked onsite by the nursery cook and the menu is really impressive. Any niggles have been few and far between - anything raised has been taken seriously and addressed promptly. Great range of activities too (my son used some of his French on holidays). I really can't recommend this nursery enough.

Little Cherubs is the most wonderful nursery - I highly recommend!

They’ve created a lovely family environment where the staff care for and nurture the children. I always left in the morning knowing my children were in good hands. The management team are also highly professional, friendly and always listening to the parents. Really sad to have left!

My youngest son left Little Cherubs in September 2023, ready for ‘big school’. He has been nurtured, loved and cared for in his two years there and was totally prepared for the change ahead of him.

All of the staff and particularly his key staff members were so focused on him ahead of the big shift to reception and provided all the tools to learn and understand the transition. He not only developed wonderful relationships but was so happy to play and learn every day, he ran inside barely glancing back. I highly recommend this setting and both of my sons have had wonderful experiences there.

The family-run nature transcends through all of the rooms and you really get the sense that decisions are made with empathy and consideration towards each family’s personal situation. My son has additional needs and we received support every step of the way; the nursery went over and above to ensure that reasonable adjustments were made to appropriately support my son – the care and concern is genuine and I doubt we would have received this personal touch elsewhere.
Trips include a local farm, Forest School and a Christmas pantomime. In-house events include the Christmas nativity, art evening and preschool graduation. Celebrated events include Easter, Halloween, Diwali and Christmas alongside a children's charity and walking week.

The nursery is open all year (except the Christmas week) with 3 annual staff training days. Parents are kept updated of their child’s development via the app, and it is always incredibly easy to get through to the team. Thank you Little Cherubs!

Little Cherubs Shortlands is an absolutely fantastic nursery which I would wholeheartedly recommend to any parents considering nurseries in the area. We sent both our boys to this nursery and although they are now in school, they still often talk about their time at Little Cherubs very fondly. We cannot thank all the staff at Little Cherubs enough for being so wonderful, understanding, attentive and caring towards our boys during their time there. We miss you all!

We were very sad to leave Little Cherubs Nursery as we were moving away.
My child joined the baby room at 8 months and we could not have been more reassured and happy with her settling into the nursery.
We were kept informed by the app and it had very thorough information daily about her number of nappies, food and general updates about what she had been up to that week. We loved receiving these updates as they showed my child enjoying playing with her friends and nursery life.
The staff were extremely professional but also caring and loving of watching our daughter develop. They encouraged her to learn and grow in such a positive and educational way.
The nursery has helped my child with her social skills and speech and she is so happy to play independently and seek to learn through play, together with sharing with her friends and taking turns all vital for her development.

Little Cherubs started to feel like our extended family and we were sad to leave.

Our son was at Little Cherubs from 10 months until he left for reception (age 4). During that time he enjoyed great care and support from staff in the baby and toddler rooms and preschool. He always speaks fondly of the staff and is really well prepared for school now.

The staff plan and execute engaging activities for the children, and it's always a joy to see what they get up to on the online log. I would highly recommend the nursery to all.

Very happy and caring environment for children to grow. Carefully and thoughtfully managed, and just the right number of children.
The Baby room is quite small, but ideal for snuggly environment. The facilities generally are extremely clean, bright, nicely decorated with happy pictures of the children and team, and well organised.

The care team go above and beyond with activities for the children, parties, farm trips, plays, and art shows. Children encouraged to exercise, learn languages, be creative, and practice their hygiene skills. Fantastic place, very sad to be moving on!

Maggie Job Title: Area Manager Joined: 2000
Maggie

I have worked in the childcare industry for 23 years, having started my career at a preschool nursery as an assistant. I joined Little Cherubs back in 2000 at the Sydenham nursery and during my time there achieved my Level 3 qualification in childcare. Over the past 20 years I have steadily worked my way up to Manager at the Shortlands nursery since 2004 and now am the Area manager of both nurseries.

I love developing the children’s understanding of their world by using role-playing scenarios such as: re-enacting tea parties for the Royal wedding, taking singing sessions and cooking activities and making an inclusive environment in which all children are able to participate.

My career highlight has to be attaining the Ofsted ‘Outstanding’ firstly at Shortlands in 2017 & then followed by Sydenham in 2018. The delivery of childcare has changed so much in the last 21 years and I believe that Little Cherubs has a good balance between providing first-class‘ family care’ and quality learning opportunities for children in order to develop the skills necessary to move on to the next phase of their learning.
