Chingford House Nursery is based in a beautiful terraced house in a popular residential area, close to schools in Chingford.

The owner and manager have over 50 years combined early years’ experience and they lead an extraordinary team of compassionate and dedicated early years practitioners.

The nursery strongly believes that children need warm and affectionate relationships to support their emotional well-being and the nursery's key person approach is key to achieving this.

CHN has discovered the ideal balance between children learning through play and providing a more structured learning environment as the nursery prepares children for school. The room leaders support children with their reading, writing and phonics.

CHN complements its educational programme with extra-curricular activities such as Forest school.

CHN takes children from 6 months to 5 years.

The nursery is fantastic. Our first son is just leaving and our second has just started. The nursery really listens to parents and have gone from strength to strength. They were inspected by OFSTED in April 2019. The grading does not reflect the nursery at all, and the pandemic has meant they haven’t
had the opportunity to have this corrected with another inspection.
We have found staff loving and warm with both of our children. Our youngest who is just 10 months has loved it. We were worried he would find it hard, but the nursery’s settling in programme and open communication have made it very stress-free and comfortable.
Our 4-year-old has been prepared for school brilliantly, with phonics and numeracy lessons, fun creative activities and lots of social, emotional and cultural development from staff. The staff and management champion diversity, inclusivity, friendship and respect. We couldn’t be happier with Chingford House School.

We couldn’t be happier with our choice to send both our boys here. The nursery is friendly, very well run and small enough that you feel all the staff know each child personally. I’m continually impressed by the staff and their commitment to the children. I find them to be really nurturing and imaginative
with their daily activities. My oldest is about to start school and is so sad to be leaving his teachers and his friends. He’ll come home and excitedly tell me about his day, which can include anything from forest school, yoga, music to more traditional learning and themed topics, like cultures around the world, the solar system, jungle animals etc. His learning has been beyond our expectations and he’s more than ready for school while my youngest is coming on really well, bonding quickly with his teachers who I feel are completely invested in his well-being and development. Would recommend to any local family!

Our oldest son has been attending Chingford House School since 2018 and our youngest since 2020 - we love it there. It is a very welcoming and inclusive place. The employees are warm and friendly and have great relationships with the children. I feel like it is an extension to the family in a way and
we will be sad when the kids are ready to move on. They have worked really hard during COVID-19 and dealt with many challenges. We have also amazingly never had to isolate due to a contact in the nursery in the last 18 months which is impressive and speaks to the policies the nursery has in place.

My daughter has attended this nursery for 2 years and unfortunately because we are moving far away, she will be leaving soon. We are absolutely devastated to have to take her out of the nursery. It is so daunting leaving your children in other peoples care but every single staff member is so caring
and kind to the children, even when they don’t know you are listening or around. The staff truly want the best for the children and do many many activities to keep them entertained. My daughter is coming on leaps and bounds since starting the nursery and the staff work really hard to make sure the children enjoy themselves, have a structure and maintain good behaviours. This nursery is so great we are truly sad to be leaving and have even considered doing the 40-minute journey there and back each day just so she can stay.

After a bad experience at another local (very well rated) nursery, we moved our daughter to Chingford House School and couldn't have been happier with the move. We now have had 2 very happy daughters at the nursery for 2 years and both have had such a lovely experience.


We are so happy to send our

girls each day to an environment that is caring, inclusive, playful, creative and educational. The team are all very experienced, many of whom have raised their own children and truly understand and invest in our children.


Chingford House School does exceptionally well at understanding, exploring and celebrating all cultures and backgrounds. It's brilliantly managed and communication is excellent. The kids eat nutritious meals cooked by their lovely chef whom the girls love to talk about.

An excellent nursery that my son went to for three years and recently left to start school. It is a testament to the nurseries approach to learning and personal development that my son is 110% ready for school, with an inquisitive and analytical approach to the world. He loved going there, and the nurturing

My daughter has settled in well at Chingford House and made friends there. The staff were very good with updating me frequently during the settling in process and with caring for her, such as helping her to nap and comforting her. The outdoor garden area is tidy and spacious, and the classrooms are
also tidy. She has developed a good bond with her keyworker. She's enjoyed the activities, particularly last term when they had singing. Overall, I feel like this has been a good choice for our family.

My husband and I have always been impressed with the school. The staff run a very tight ship. They seem very caring and attentive to all the children. All the children including my own daughter, seem very happy there and look forward to attending. They do a very tough job, staff must be exhausted looking
after children every day and yet they always greet you with a smile and look happy and motivated.

My son has been attending Chingford House School since the age of two years. He has built strong relationships with the staff and children. He enjoys all the extracurricular activities provided at the nursery. The management have guided the staff team to improve children's assessments. The new online

Our daughter has been at the nursery since 8 months old and will be going to reception class in September. She has truly enjoyed her time there and has made many friends whom she will sorely miss. Chingford House School has been instrumental in her readiness for school and this positive attitude towards
learning is one of the many reasons we chose this nursery. The children are all able to read and write to a reception level prior to going to school which helps with confidence and adapting to their new school environments.
We hope that Chingford House School continues to build on the good work they've done to date to ensure a bright future for their children.

Our eldest son has attended for nearly three years. He has thrived in the warm, fun and nurturing environment. I am always impressed at the creative and fun ways the staff help the children learn through games and structured play. Our eldest will start school in September, CHS has prepared him very
well. Although he is young for the year his phonics, reading and writing have surpassed what I would expect at this age! The children benefit from forest school as well as special lessons in PE and music and many special occasions are celebrated. Our baby boy has just started and staff have been fantastic at helping him settle. Overall the atmosphere is very inclusive as seen in the celebration of cultures. Staff are fantastic, communication is open and they have our confidence in caring for both our boys.

All in all, we are really satisfied with the nursery. The staff have always seemed warm and friendly and there is a real sense of community between the children. The learning environment is rich, our child loved forest school and bongo-a-long most, and loved learning about the solar system, pre-historic
animals and other creatures. The only thing that needs some improvement is safeguarding approaches. The communication on simple matters such as bruises to the shins or knees could have been communicated in a more tactful manner.

Staff are very friendly and welcoming. My children are very comfortable in their surroundings and I see this by the way they boldly run into their nursery knowing directly which rooms are theirs and greeting their friends and teachers. Chingford House School is their second home and they love it. The
teaching procedures guide my children for their everyday life and the practitioners assist them throughout every stage. We are consulted on the different developmental stages of our children and the policies and procedures in place to safeguard them. The rooms are decorated well with useful learning mobiles and colour for cognitive development. The outdoor play area is beautiful, the children had PE lessons which enhance their physical development and the outdoor play equipment caters to every child's preferences. Music lessons go down a treat as my kids love to sing and dance. The nursery is vegetarian, and although our family are not, we appreciate the delicious, nutritious meals prepared on-site and the breakfast and tea provided - all healthy options. Chingford House was the first point of call for my children and I have recommended to others who have also decided to take their children there.

Chingford House School is a wonderful place for my son to play, learn, thrive and be cared for. All the staff are so lovely and genuinely care and support the children's needs.

I have known the nursery for over 10 years now and have been pleased with everything. The staff are very supportive. The teacher in the Marigolds room has given me something that no other person has ever done, thanks to her my children had the best start and my daughter has started reading phonics from
the age of 3 thanks to her. The staff are very kind, professional and I feel at ease leaving my children in their hands. I could not be much happier and appreciative of what the nursery has done for my kids.

My son started the nursery when he was 8 months and he loves it. The transition week was smooth and he really settled in quite quickly.
I love the daily dairy the teachers give at the end of the day. Very helpful staff and a lovely homely environment.
