Our son started nursery in April when he was 5.5 months old. So he was very young, and this was also just as everything was coming out of lockdowns. Despite these difficult circumstances the staff made us feel welcome and our son settled in quickly. Over the past months we have started the weaning process
and the nursery has been extemely helpful with introducing solids according to a weaning plan agreed between us. Our son now recognises his teacher and clearly is happy being dropped off at nursery.
We really appreciated the handover sheets that described the daily activities which has recently been replaced by an app that also allows for the upload of picture taken in the nursery during daily activities. From these it was also very clear that our son is very happy and enjoys being in the nursery.
We would highly recommend this nursery and thank the staff for all their hard work.

Our daughter started the nursery at 2.5 years old and now it is time to move on to primary school. She has had a very quick settling in period and loved every day at her nursery.
The Staff is warm and communication is good. There is lots of outdoor space to play.
Overall we are very happy with our
experience there.

We have found the staff to be very helpful, my daughter has enjoyed going to nursery and speaks fondly of her key workers and other staff members. The team is quick to respond to queries and also deals with any concerns seriously. My daughter very much enjoys the outdoor space and playing with her friends.
She has settled very well.

This has been a brilliant nursery for our son. He was moved to it because his previous one closed during the first lockdown and we decided to keep him here because he was enjoying it so much. The manager, one member of staff in particular and the team run it superbly. Our son has made great friends,
completed loads of activities and enjoyed the excellent facilities, including the enormous back garden. We thoroughly recommend it.

We are very happy with the nursery and our son loves going there. Kids have a really good environment and the outdoor area is definitely the best I have seen locally. The programme and the variety of learning and activities is balanced really well. We feel relaxed and we trust the team who looks always
happy and positive. Our communication with management and staff has been excellent so far. It’s a great place for kids and we are planning to send our second son there soon. Overall we would definitely highly recommend this nursery.

Our daughter has been attending this nursery since last September and although it took her a while to settle, she does now absolutely love it. We recently had a tour of the nursery which was not only really well presented but also I was very pleased to see the whole setup. Having seen a number of nurseries
prior to selecting this one it really stands out. It’s very spacious, lots of light, great selection of activities and a huge garden. Our daughter has really grown in confidence since attending. The daily reports are great as well. All her teachers and helpers are very friendly and provide good updates when we go at pick up. Thoroughly recommend this nursery.

Our daughter started the nursery last September, during the challenging time of Covid. As first-time parents, we were nervous as our daughter had experienced limited opportunity to socialise, so was very shy around new people. The nursery did an excellent job at reassuring us of any concerns we had
and kept us updated on how she was settling in with regular phone calls during her first few weeks.
All the staff at the nursery are friendly and very nurturing to individual child’s needs and have done an excellent job at supporting our daughter in a new environment. At the end of each day, we are provided with a handover sheet, which details the range of activities that are focused on learning and development. We have seen an increase in our daughter's skills and confidence as a result, and she especially enjoys the daily garden time. Would highly recommend this nursery.

Re: North Finchley and Bumblebee Room.
The team are very friendly, professional and attentive. Almost every day the children go to play in the garden, which has been helpful for the child's wellbeing and improving her skills, especially during the lockdown. This cannot be underestimated. Each day
you are given a one-page breakdown of what the children did e.g. painting, painting with hands, drawing, using pipe cleaners, stacking items, lego and also what they ate, and the number of soiled nappies.
The team are friendly and considerate and deserve enormous praise for keeping things running smoothly during the lockdown as this can't have been easy. I believe the ratio of teacher/carer to a child is 1 to 3 which is great, and our child has formed a bond with her carers.
If we have any queries, the team are very responsive and will do their best to accommodate.

Overall, we're very happy with the nursery.

So happy with this nursery, my daughter has been going since she was 1 (she is now 3) and my son (1) started in October this year. The staff in each of the rooms are so lovely and the kids have formed bonds with all the staff, not just their key workers. The variety of activities and the amazing large
garden keep them entertained and they have both developed so much during their time there.
I have been impressed with the nursery’s service and support given in the trying circumstances this year. They have given the kids a sense of normality whilst also going over and above to keep their staff and all the kids safe.
My kids are really happy there and love going.

Bright Horizons North Finchley is a special nursery in many ways, and we feel our child is in perfectly open, safe and in kind hands. We highly recommend it.
They have a few different rooms where children are organised by age, a kitchen (our child loves healthy food!) and a spacious garden outdoors
with plenty of activities. The management team has been around for at least 1.5 years, and come across as truly dedicated and passionate about their work. The nursery has qualified and kind staff, and a generous ratio of staff to children. We especially appreciate this, as we value our child’s need for time and attention. Our child has found such kind, patient and forming at the nursery, that we have full peace of mind.
By the end of each day, we receive a report with a summary of all the meals, activities and any highlights. Every now and then our child also brings home a drawing or painting to celebrate any festive occasions.
Thank you for all you’ve been doing!

Our son enjoyed his stay with Active Learning Finchley (London) for the past 2 years. moving onto school. He is still missing his teachers here. It was such a relief for us when he first joined Active Learning Finchley (London). The convenience in open hours means we can drop him early and do not get
delayed to go to work, especially with his food allergy. He was carefully looked after by the nursery so we could focus on our work rather than worrying too much about his food preparation etc. All the activities in the nursery encouraged him to think and behave happily and independently. We couldn't be happier with our son staying with Active Learning Finchley (London).

My children have attended Active Learning Finchley (London) since 2012 and I could not have wished for greater care for my children. The love, support and encouragement they have given the children has meant that my daughter has grown into a confident six-year-old and my son has become an inquisitive
young man. I could not have found a better nursery for my children's preschool years.

My daughter started attending this nursery from the age of 9 months. As a first time mother, I was nervous about returning to work. However, from the moment she started to settle in all my worries were gone and she has been totally happy there ever since. The staff are all dedicated, professional and
committed to the children's learning and well-being. The handover at the end of the day is extremely personalised- my daughter's key worker always knows the little things that make her who she is. She has already learnt so much there and I'm excited to see her continue to flourish there.

My second child is now at Active Learning and loves it, just as much as my first child did.
She has so much to keep her busy and had developed so much since she started in January.
It's great to know I can drop her off knowing she will be well cared for and is having fun.
The staff are great.

My son is really enjoying being there. When he started at the nursery, I was worried about him.
After a while, I saw how he is happy there.
ACL really looks after all children. All staff focus on the children with interest.
There is a big garden and they do a lot of outside activities.
Also, their
food is great, ACL gives lots of different foods.
My son goes to language and speech therapy, and ACL is really helpful about language and speech.
I can see how he's improving his speech day by day.
All I can say is 'Thank you ACL Finchley'.

My son has a wonderful time at nursery. Most recently he has watched ducklings hatch from eggs. He comes home from nursery telling me all their names and that they are growing. He is always telling me what he has learnt. He especially enjoys his art lessons. He was very proud of the pictures he took
and now knows hoe to operate our camera at home. He has extended this at home and wants to do this all the time. When he started he was very shy, but with each room all the nursery nurses have been very supportive with all areas of development. I am extremely happy with Active Learning and would highly recommend to friends and family.

I love this nursery. My child is so happy she runs in through the door and starts her day. She especially enjoys sessions where she gets to do something practical like sports or playing drump. She has loved watching the ducklings grow. The manager sent out daily newsletters so we could talk about it
at home. At the moment she is enjoying letters, the children are doing phonics and she comes home singing songs which I am told are helping her learn sounds. The staff from the baby room up have all been wonderful and she bonded with her key person in each room well. Love this nursery.

Current Review Score: 8.5 (8.540)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.5 (8.540) out of 10 for Bright Horizons North Finchley Day Nursery and Preschool is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 4 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.6 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.957 for Bright Horizons North Finchley Day Nursery and Preschool is calculated as follows: ( (45 Excellents x 5) + (2 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 47 Ratings = 4.957
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.583 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Bright Horizons North Finchley Day Nursery and Preschool is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 96 number of registered child places is 19.2. 4 Positive Reviews ÷ 19.2 = 0.208
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
