The Review Score of 8.1 (maximum of 10) for Oakwood House Nursery and Forest School is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.
a) The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 14 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Oakwood House Nursery and Forest School in Google's Search Results - more info
b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.4 out of 5 from 2 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.
a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Day Nursery / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Day Nursery receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.
The Average Rating of 4.72 for Oakwood House Nursery and Forest School is calculated as follows: ( (138 Excellents x 5) + (20 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) + (5 Poors x 2) + (1 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 168 Ratings = 4.72
b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Day Nursery to friends and family?'
The 5 points available are broken down as follows:
4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.
1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.
If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.
The 3.369 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Oakwood House Nursery and Forest School is based on 2 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:
3 + 0.25 = 3.25
Target of 16.8 positive Reviews (84 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 2 Reviews ÷ 16.8 Target = 0.119
When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

My daughter learned so much while she was attending Oakwood House Nursery, the staff were very helpful, kind and patient with her. Outstanding Management and great building.
I would recommend to everyone who wants to build their child's confidence because the forest school is the best.

The staff are all very caring, professional and approachable. My son loves going to the nursery every time he goes. He enjoys himself and comes home happy and very mucky which means he's having a fabulous time.

We chose Oakwood House especially for the outdoor facilities and they definitely
do not disappoint! The outside gardens are fantastic. I especially like that there are no 'plastic' toys outside and I love hearing my son's tales of climbing and digging in the garden.
I have two sons now at Oakwood. One who has been there for just over two years and the other just starting on his journey. The staff are great and have supported my child's learning and family throughout. They come home fulfilled and ready for there next adventure at nursery! The new addition of ParentZone is great and makes viewing and adding your child's experiences very easy. I would highly recommend Oakwood House!

Oakwood is an amazing nursery. We were thrilled when our son was accepted. The staff are superb. They are very attentive, professional and caring. There are plenty of activities all the time and the gardens are huge. Our son loves being outside getting muddy and learning about the seasons so Oakwood was our number one choice. I have friends with children here and others in the process of applying due to how fab it is.

Both my boys have been through Oakwood House as their Pre-School experience, so I've been involved with the nursery for 5 years now. I have always been extremely impressed with the hard work of the staff in the nursery, the quality of the learning environments both inside and outside, the food provided and extra activities such as yoga and Forest School. The most important aspect of having my children in the nursery was always that they enjoyed it and that I felt they were safe. My boys have always enjoyed their days at nursery, making wonderful long-lasting friendships, and the staff are extremely well trained and work hard to create a very safe environment for the children.

An amazing place for children! Both our children have been at Oakwood House from 6 months onwards. The eldest graduating in September 2015 with a full Forest School diploma in early years life skills -preparing him excellently for his first year at school and also giving him social and physical skills to take into everyday life. Our youngest is currently in Pre-School 1, like his brother loves attending to explore both outdoor and indoor. The outdoor space is one that you could have only have dreamed of as a child, exploring in all weathers, learning how plants grow etc and most importantly "where bears live in their den". The staff have been a credit to their profession and have contributed so much to the development of our children with the right balance of free play and structured learning and love. Knowing your child is learning whilst being active, having fun and eating the healthiest meals is a real comfort. When we have cheers that it is Tuesday and it's nursery, says it all.

My son started at Oakwood House Nursery and Forest School in the baby room, he's now a toddler and has flourished at Oakwood. The staff, facilities and activities provided are second to none. My son loves every single minute at Oakwood. He has gained in confidence and is a very happy little chap. I can't praise Oakwood House Nursery and Forest School enough and would thoroughly recommend it to any parent (Providing you don't mind them coming home filthy every now and again!)

My two year old son is cared for at Oakwood House 2 days per week in the toddler room. I cannot rave enough about how much he enjoys his time there. He is a very active little boy which is perfect as there is never a dull moment in the toddler room. The kids absolutely love being outside in all weathers. They have the right equipment to ensure they are warm and can focus on having fun. There are no plastic bikes or toys outside, the kids spend organised time enjoying nature and my son is thriving doing that. Of course much of what makes nursery enjoyable is the connection children have with the staff. My son's key worker- he adores her. Talks about her at home and is really happy to see her when we drop her off. She is fantastic. Oakwood House should be proud to have her which I am sure they are.

My daughter started in the toddler room in November 2014 and is now due to start school this September. During her time at Oakwood House, she has developed in so many ways. She is more confident and balanced, a very independent and happy girl.
We wanted her to enjoy the outdoors and really get stuck into nature, and we are so pleased with our decision to send her to Oakwood House.
The staff are excellent, highly skilled and very caring. Highly recommend this nursery and with our second child due this year, we shall certainly be back.

Excellent staff who are very welcoming. We wanted our daughter to play outside as much as possible and outdoor facilities including the mud kitchen and woodland area is perfect for her. She has settled in well and made lots of friends after moving nurseries from Oakworth and we couldn't happier.

We are extremely disappointed with the level of care for our son in recent months. We had a very good experience during his time in the baby and toddler rooms however this has not been the case in pre-school. We are sad to say that we feel when things are raised to management no real effort is made to ensure situations don't reoccur.

Anastasia Murphy, General Manager at Oakwood House Nursery and Forest School responded to this review on 24 May 2016:
We strive to provide outstanding care for every child throughout the nursery and we are deeply sorry you feel we are not meeting your expectations. The manager has arranged another meeting with you to understand the specifics of this negative review so we can improve in those areas and maintain the high standards we have always prided ourselves on.
Once again, I apologise that you feel the care in pre-school is not to the same standard as the rest of the nursery and we endeavour to deal with all issues raised to us directly.

Our daughter started attending Oakwood in September 2014 at 10 months old. She is happy and extremely well cared in the toddler room, now aged 2, just as she was in the baby room. She has had two incredible key workers who have both been dedicated to her care and well being, showing affection beyond what I could have hoped for from a nursery. I cannot speak highly enough of all the staff at Oakwood house. I agonised over my choice of nursery but feel glad every day that I chose this one.
