Busy Bees Leicester Blaby nursery opened in 2009. It is situated on the outskirts of Blaby.

It offers a warm, welcoming and stimulating environment and provides a broad range of play-based activities for children to learn and grow.

The self contained baby unit has play areas, quiet areas, a calming sleep room and practical eating/feeding areas. The play area is bright, spacious and fun. Babies and toddlers have direct access to the outdoors where they can explore a wonderful area of both planned and spontaneous activities to discover the world around them.

The free flow environment allows the children to choose where they would like to play with access to bikes and outdoor play equipment.

Highly motivated and enthusiastic staff team provide top quality care and learning for all children. Between them, they have a wealth of experience and qualifications.

We are very happy with the care the nursery provides to our daughter and that she really enjoys her time there. The staff are friendly and welcoming to both parents and children. There is a happy vibe throughout the nursery and there are regular seasonal/topical activities for the children and opportunities
for parents to attend and join in. Would definitely recommend the nursery.

I feel there has been a huge improvement in the general running of the nursery since Busy Bees have taken over the nursery. Staff morale has improved. My son loves coming to nursery, his confidence has grown, getting involved in activities and very comfortable with staff and management.

From the first day, my daughter started this nursery, she has flourished and learnt so many key skills and I cannot thank all the staff enough for their care and consideration.
I will be sad when she has to leave, when the term has finished, as she has built up some great relationship with the nursery

Staff at Bush Babies - Leicester Blaby are always welcoming - any queries are answered fully. My daughter absolutely loves attending nursery, running up to staff on arrival and thoroughly enjoying every minute here. I am completely happy with our experience at Bush Babies and have no hesitation in leaving

I am really happy with the care my daughter received at Bush Babies nursery. Her key worker knows her really well and is able to identify the smallest steps of development which is brilliant. Overall, a very good playgroup for my son.
Only suggestion is maybe more notice to parents regarding buying an outfit for xmas performance. 48 hours was a struggle as I have little money and no transport.

During December the nursery have welcomed children's families into the nursery for a range of activities, from a charity craft making session, and Carol singing, to parties and a Christmas performance with coffee and mince pies. Staff always ensure that they keep parents involved in each child's progress.
Children are helped to take care of their own possessions and become independent.

Our daughter has been at the Lavender Bush since June and we are really impressed with the nursery as a whole, she has come on no end since starting and she loves going.
The staff are all so friendly, caring and helpful and our daughter is familiar with them all which is great as I have no concerns
and know that she will be happy when moving up a room in the New Year. The nursery always has lovely events going on which we can join in with which is lovely to see as she is so confident in everything she does at the nursery.
I would highly recommend the Lavender Bush to anyone looking for a nursery it is by far the nicest nursery in our local area, in my opinion, it has a lovely homely feel.

This is an exceptional nursery with a wonderful staff team. They are all very professional but also warm and friendly. It feels like more of a "second home" than a nursery for my son. It has a wonderful feeling of community with lots of fun events where family/nursery combine. I have recommended this
nursery to other parents and will continue to do so.

We have had a very good experience throughout. I would add that since new management /admin have started the service at that level has been excellent having been quite disorganised previously. The staff are lovely and provide quality care to my adopted daughter and are understanding of her needs.

My experience of the nursery so far is all positive. My son loves coming to nursery and is always happy to come in and play happily when picked up.


The staff are all lovely and the facilities are far better than the other nurseries we looked at. I would be happy to recommend the nursery.

I could highly recommend Bush Babies. My son is always looked after well, and the staff provide a caring environment and are informative to parents. They get 3 meals a day (breakfast, lunch and high tea) which are varied and healthy (with the odd treat).
I can see how my son has developed through
a "Learning journey" file that the staff keep up to date and parents are welcome to view at any time. Entry to the nursery is through a fingerprint system which, though temperamental, provides security and children must be signed in and out of every session, which provides me with confidence that my child is safe.
The nursery also has social activities which include parents (eg. around Christmas) and regular parents evening sessions to discuss progress and issues with the child's keyworker. The facilities are great - There are 2 secure outside facilities (one for the younger groups and one for the pre-school groups) an IT room and an "Enchanted" room for creativity.

Katie Mahal

Job Title: Centre Director Joined: 2015

Hello, my name is Katie Mahal and I really enjoy working for Busy Bees and being the Centre Director here at Busy Bees Leicester Blaby.


I joined Busy Bees Leicester Blaby just over six years ago. I gained my Level 3 qualification through the Busy Bees Training Academy and haven't looked back since. I have worked my way up and became the nursery SENCO, supporting children and families and I still continue with this role now. I then became the Room Leader in Preschool which I continued with throughout lockdown while being a centre that stayed open to key worker parents. After reopening our doors to all our families, I then stepped up to Assistant Centre Director. One year later in 2022, I was then given another exciting opportunity and become Centre Director. I am very grateful for this progression and have loved every minute of the journey. 


I have two boys myself, so my spare time is taken up with after-school clubs during the week and we enjoy long walks, swimming and visiting family at the weekends. 


I'm very proud of my team, we are like a family away from home. They are highly qualified and very dedicated to ensuring the children are kept safe, engaged, and constantly offered exciting, fun, and developmental activities. We see each child as an individual and take into account their interests, their home experiences and areas for development. We are passionate about our parent partnership and are always finding new ways to get parents involved in the nursery and in the development of their children.
