Buttercups at Chiswick Lane offers a unique approach to early years education, combining Montessori and Forest School.

The new Tipi classroom is stocked with Montessori resources for the preschool children, specifically designed to encourage child-led learning. Montessori teachers facilitate the process, building confidence, social-awareness and self-motivation.

The nursery has a fully-enclosed forest school set in a secure wooded area which provides a safe place for children to explore and contains natural dens and a wild field for children to play in. The nursery also has a collection of fruit trees and shrubs as well as a mud kitchen, toilet tent, sleep tent and an outdoor classroom housed in a big shed.

Children can make full use of the climbing and balancing poles and stumps. Snacks and hot meals are provided outdoors in the nursery's outdoor classroom. A skilled team of Forest School leaders have a wealth of knowledge and experience to support children in various activities as they develop and staff work to build strong relationships with both parents and children alike.

If you'd like to learn more about the nursery, please contact the team who will be happy to help.

My son attended this nursery and was absolutely thrilled every single day. It is, without a doubt, the best nursery in Chiswick. The teachers are simply outstanding - warm, caring, and deeply committed to every child's well-being.

You can feel the love and dedication in everything they do. The children

are always smiling, joyful, and surrounded by positive energy. The atmosphere is nurturing and filled with care - it truly feels like a second home.

I wholeheartedly wish that every child, in every school, could meet teachers as wonderful as the ones in this nursery. They make an incredible difference, and we are forever grateful. Highly, highly recommended!

My son is in the best hands and I wish for every child to be so loved and blessed by teachers like the ones from Buttercups at Chiswick Lane. We are very lucky that our boy could be, literally, "raised" by one member of staff, in particular, who is an actual angel on earth and the manager who is so
kind and professional that she should be running a country not a nursery. This nursery is not getting enough attention and recognition! It's absolutely mandatory for them to be praised and celebrated. I could never send my son to any other place and I'm grateful every day that I've managed to find them. Every person there treats kids like a special human being and the respect and care they show towards children and parents is worth every praise. I will forever be grateful for everything they did for us. I wish that they could get more funding because what they already are doing is beyond every nursery in this country.

The Buttercups team all show an excellent level of care and attention to detail. This is displayed on a daily basis with my child and, particularly, during the settling-in period. Buttercups embodies a true 'family-like' environment which is evident through how happy my child is there. The outdoor space
at Buttercups excels and maximum outdoor time is always well thought through. The forest school is a particular stand-out future.

Buttercups at Chiswick Lane is a great place for children to get a good balance of indoor and outdoor experiences. The staff have been caring and fully engaged in helping our little one discover and develop new physical and mental skills. I've also appreciated the effort they've made to teach good behaviour
and help little ones develop their social skills. It's a wonderful place all around!

Buttercups Nursery on Chiswick Lane is absolutely wonderful. My daughter is so happy to go every morning and when I pick her up she is beaming from the day that she's had. The teachers are creative, kind, thoughtful and loving. The environment is also excellent, with a lovely indoor space with lots
of toys and engaging activities and an immense garden with a fenced-in forest for the kids to explore. We feel very lucky that our daughter is able to spend her days with Buttercups.

The staff have been great and my child has enjoyed his time at the nursery. He comes back singing the songs he's learned and talking about all of the interesting facts he's been taught. He has enjoyed playing inside and out and made friends. The staff has been accommodating and helpful in every way.

Our daughter has been Buttercups for about 6 months now (since she was 2 years) and absolutely loves it there. The staff are wonderful, providing a caring, safe and supportive environment to take advantage of the fantastic outside space and Montessori-based activities. We have been so impressed by the
effort made to organise Christmas/Burns Night/Halloween/Easter activities for the kids which parents can come along to also. We've recommended Buttercups to quite a few friends and feel so lucky to have found it.

Amazing nursery Buttercups, Chiswick Lane. After visiting many of the nurseries in the area we loved this one and that has been the case for the last year and a half. Great and loving staff. They get to know each kid on a personal level and build a strong relationship with them. You can see this when
dropping or picking up the kids that they all have a special bond. Staff is always available for additional support and a chat on the kid's development and progress. They have a mix of Montessori and Forrest school methods with a large outdoor area for the kids to play and learn.

The staff at Buttercups are absolutely amazing. They have been so caring and have really nourished his curiosity. The balance of forest school and Montessori, delivered by specially trained staff has given my son such confidence and has enabled him to become independent as well as igniting the path
of 'follow your curiosity'. The team is so attentive and well-informed. The outdoor space and chickens are an added bonus.

I love Buttercups, Chiswick Lane. The staff are the most nurturing, caring and fun that I have come across - and I have three children who have attended 4 different nurseries. The setting is also lovely, with a big outdoor space.

Buttercups at Chiswick Lane is an incredible place where children spend part of the day doing Montessori activities and the other part playing outdoors in the garden or activities in the forest school. The staff are kind and nurturing, placing emphasis on the well being of the children. Our daughter
is very happy and has spent 4 years with the Buttercups Nursery group with over 2 years in this particular setting. I would highly recommend the forest school setting to any parents that would like to learn in the natural environment/woodland setting.

Buttercups at Homefields is an excellent nursery experience combining top class learning and social environment with a brilliant outdoor space. The curriculum and attention to the children is excellent, and this is clear in how happy our daughter is but also how well rounded she has become during her
time. The staff are very friendly and considered, really taking the time to get to know the children as well as going the extra distance to provide thorough feedback to the parents each day. I would highly recommend this Forest School.

Our daughter has attended Buttercups Nursery since she was one. We could not be happier with the dedication and care they have provided. The staff are attentive, caring, respectful and great fun. Buttercups and Homefields has a great outdoor extension used for forest school activities which is fantastic
for energetic toddlers.

We have been very happy with this lovely nursery for several years now - our son went there first and now our daughter (who is 3). They have a Montessori room with lots of stimulating activities for the pre-schoolers and a lovely big room for the younger ones to learn and play. The garden is fantastic:
a huge outdoor space (especially for London), with a covered part so the children can still get fresh air when it rains, and the amazing Forest School facility. Both of our children love being outside so this was a huge draw for us. The biggest attraction, however, is the staff. They are kind, caring, knowledgeable, creative and fun and even though both of ours were a little reluctant at the beginning, they handled the transition (and a worried mummy!) with confidence and kindness. It wasn’t long at all before they both loved it! And they have done a brilliant job during the pandemic - remaining positive and providing the children with a safe and happy space. I would highly recommend!

This Forest School is just amazing! All the staff are extremely professional and kind with the kids. The children are looking so happy they are never bored as the variety of activities keeps them engaged. They have lots of outdoor activities and outdoor learning, they make lots of fun things that they
bring home especially some colourings. It is wonderful to see the little ones spend their days playing in the woods and hunting for minibeasts just what they should do at their age.

The Buttercups at Chiswick Lane nursery is truly one-of-a-kind and something you don't find often in London. Large outdoor space, a forest school, lots of creative Montessori activities and - most importantly - incredible teachers. Our son looks forward to the nursery every day, he is inspired by all
the activities and loves the nurturing nursery environment. I would highly recommend it if you're considering Buttercups for your child.

Current Review Score: 8.8 (8.812)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.8 (8.812) out of 10 for Buttercups at Chiswick Lane is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 4 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.9 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.896 for Buttercups at Chiswick Lane is calculated as follows: ( (44 Excellents x 5) + (3 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 48 Ratings = 4.896
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.916 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Buttercups at Chiswick Lane is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 37 number of registered child places is 7.4. 4 Positive Reviews ÷ 7.4 = 0.541
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
