View Full Details of Fennies Horley, Albert RoadI have used Fennies for 2 of my children & it has been a great experience. Both my kids have loved the nursery. My little one is fond of it now & looks forward to attending everyday. The staff is nice & seem caring towards the children.
Our children have only been at Fennies for a few weeks so far due to their previous nursery shutting down in July but so far we've had an excellent experience. Given the sudden closure of our previous nursery, Fennies were very quick to get back to us about availability and a tour. Both kids have settled in really well and seem to enjoy going to nursery. The staff, environment and activities are all very engaging, only today they had owls in for the day, which is something they wouldn't have experienced out the previous nursery. The management have been so helping answering any queries and always very present at drop off and collection and great with their communication. All of the staff always come across as caring, friendly, polite, happy and helpful. I am now so glad our previous nursery shut down because our children are thriving and wish we'd done it sooner.
For the last 3 years, the nursery went from excellent to terrible, now becoming very good again. Higher management does not seem to be able to maintain the staff and is not very considerate about parents' views/opinions. The actual nursery manager is excellent, rebuilt the place with great help from the team, and we can see the difference in care, learning and development of the children. The teachers are very good as well, motivating the children, caring about them and eager to improve their skills.
Over the last few months, the new management team have really changed the nursery around. It is so lovely to see the range of activities and learning that are being scheduled. The external visitors are great. The mood changes are clear to see within the staff, and this has such a positive impact on the children. I hope this will continue as my child is set to leave in August. We have been at the nursery for 3 and a half years now, and I would recommend this nursery to anyone looking
Our experience with Fennies Horley Albert Road has been generally positive. My child's first year in the baby class was absolutely excellent - I was 100% happy with the care and attention provided. The staff were warm, nurturing, and highly attentive to her needs plus development. In 2024, during her time in the middle class, we faced some challenges. There were difficulties with staff understanding my daughter's exuberant personality, and we were disappointed that periodical assessments were not provided as expected. This was a bit concerning, as we value regular updates on her progress. Now that she is in preschool, I'm pleased to see that there are staff members who have taken the time to understand and support her in a way that suits her needs. I appreciate the efforts made by the team. Overall, Fennies Horley Albert Road is a good nursery with dedicated staff, and I'm happy to see improvements where needed.
Both my children have gone to this nursery. Recent new staff to the nursery have been perfect additions to their rooms. They take a real interest in your child, as an individual, promoting good behaviours and learning.
Our granddaughter has had an exceptional first nursery experience in the baby room at Fennies Horley, with staff and a key person who has gone out of her way to make her parents, and us as Grandparents who collect most often, feel welcome and supported in her journey. We are always greeted with a smile, and our granddaughter smiles and kicks her legs in glee when she sees the warm faces of the familiar baby room team members each morning. As a working parent, my daughter always mentions how much it means to her to be able to access the live app used in the setting which tells us how long her child has slept or how much she has eaten, giving us peace of mind with regards to her child's care. We love the weekly newsletters from the nursery manager, and especially the lending library which helps us continue learning at home. The outdoor facilities are exceptional, and we look forward to watching our grandchild grow and thrive here.
This was an excellent nursery but over the course of one year it has gone downhill due to a change in management which resulted in a large number of staff leaving throughout 2024. Their Ofsted rating has also gone down, yet the fees have increased. I have noticed a decline in the care my child has received since moving from the baby room. I have had numerous meetings with management including their regional manager but have seen no improvement. This relates mostly to very basic care needs, increased accidents, and a general lack of enrichment (the children are placed in front of the TV at least twice every day - could be more). My opinion is that there is inadequate supervision from room leaders who may not have the skills to do the job, a lack of engagement from management (who mostly sit at reception so don't know what is going on in the rooms) and frankly this setting needs a higher staff to child ratio as they cannot cope with the mandated minimum.
Both my children have attended Fennies. My son has attended for 4 years and I would say that he's had 2 good years until he joined pre-school. I do love their approach to learning and the different activities including PE, Art etc. I think some staff work hard and try their best. However, the last 2 years have seen so many changes in management and staff that my son has had so many different key persons that he didn't bond with anyone. He never looked forward to going in everyday and I could see that he was unhappy. I just hope that the issues will be looked into so they can improve and be an outstanding nursery again.
My daughter has been going since 9 months old and she is now nearly 16 months. Right from day one the kindness and friendliness have been outstanding, we have always been given helpful advice from the staff when needed. As a first-time mum, my anxiety was very high at the beginning, however, the constant app updates and photos put my mind at ease. The nursery and staff have been faultless and will highly recommend it to anyone.
We've been at Fennies Nursery for over a year and have been so impressed with the staff who have supported their development since joining. A big thank you to the room leader who is amazing. From day one, she has gone above and beyond to care for the girls and develop them to be chatty and confident. We've experienced really strong communication from the room leader and her team, with regular updates about how our babies are progressing, their interests and changes. The room leader is kind, caring and very committed to making the nursery a great environment for our children to be in. The girls' buddies have been an outstanding support to the girls and us, as parents. The girls have learnt so much from the fun activities they do, they are always looking for development opportunities. We would also like to recognise other members of staff and others whom we may not have met properly but work in support of the Explorers Room.
Both of my children attended Fennies for the past 2 years, and I’ve been so happy with our experiences. The staff go above and beyond every day to make the kids feel comfortable and happy, and both of my kids have had such a strong bond with their key workers. Fennies is a clean and exciting nursery, and the kids always loved telling me what they had got up to. My son has now started school and it’s very clear to see how well Fennies prepared him for this.
Our little girl went to Fennies for almost 3 years and we could not be happier with our experience. The team at Fennies is just incredible. It is now that our little girl has been in P1 for over a month, that we realise how much Fennies taught her! As parents, it is always hard to leave your kid behind, but we were never worried because we knew the care and attention from the team was amazing. And the food they offer, wow! I could not recommend them enough.
I have had the pleasure of both my children going to Fennies when they were both around 8 months old. I literally couldn’t fault any of the Fennies staff in the care given to my children and also the thoughts given to the parents. We love how well-fed the children are as well and it is shown they ensure the children are fed nutritional foods. They were also great with encouraging my first child to try more fruit and vegetables and was so proud when she did. Which I loved. They are honestly an outstanding nursery and we miss them all and wish them nothing but success.
The nursery and staff have been amazing at settling in my one-year-old. Always keeping me updated when he has been upset at drop-off. Also, his keyworker has been amazing with him, always checking in if he has been poorly, which I think is a great way of showing the level of care and support. He always seems to have so much fun in all the activities. He eats so much variety of food, which is great to see. Really happy with how he is settling in.
After reading about Fennies' ethos and staff background (my main focus), I couldn’t have been happier. I moved my child due to a highly disappointing and distressing incident he had at a previous nursery and wow, it was the best decision I ever made. Having it been extremely short notice, I was worried I wouldn’t have been able to enrol him until the next term, but not only did they emphasise with us, but their interest in ensuring my child receives the best care was second to none. I am so grateful to all the staff involved, to me it truly means a lot and just speaks volumes on how important our kids are to them. My child has excelled with his speech, conversation and understanding. I’m always impressed with things he says or does. He was shy in engaging with other children and although that might still be the case, he definitely has gained more confidence. He can name children’s names in his class now and will talk about them which is lovely. Thank you to everybody!
We couldn’t be happier with our experience so far at Fennies Nursery Horley. The team went above and beyond to help our son settle into nursery, we couldn’t thank them all enough. We’re kept fully up to date with what the little ones are up to during the day... no day is ever the same with such a wide variety of activities on offer to them. We’re very happy with our choice to send him here.
Fennies Nursery has been a great experience for our son, who moved at 2 from another nursery to Fennies Horley. The team have been great and really looked after him. His self-development has been excellent and he has formed some really great relationships with his key helpers and a number of the staff there. We would highly recommend Fennies.
As parents, we feared for the safety of our daughter that decided to take her out of this nursery. Official complaint submitted with both the nursery and Ofsted. Standards have reduced from outstanding to good but we think a lot of improvements are needed. It’s expensive and it does not deliver the basics of child care and safety. Strongly advise to avoid this nursery if you can.
Can't recommend this nursery. Multiple issues with the care, or lack thereof they've provided our daughter. Multiple reports to Ofsted, meetings with management and things haven't improved. Experienced and long-standing staff have left and other staff are leaving in their droves.
