View Full Details of Dicky Birds Day Nursery and Preschool Wimbledon, Queens RoadMy daughter has been attending Dicky Birds since July 2022, and our experience with the nursery has been outstanding. The staff are wonderful warm, caring, and highly engaged, and the range of activities they provide is incredible. My daughter adores the team and often talks about them at home. The graduation ceremony for school leavers was beautifully organised and truly memorable, a real testament to the care and thought the nursery puts into everything they do. I would wholeheartedly recommend Dicky Birds to anyone looking for a nurturing, stimulating, and supportive environment for their children.
While I am writing this review on the back of the incredible pre-school graduation ceremony that DB held in July 2025, I want to express how bittersweet it is to be moving on from the wonderful DB family as my child goes off to Reception on September. I have always felt that my child is safe, well-looked after, encouraged to be brave and try new things (PE at South Park Gardens is one of her favourite activities), and taught to care for her classmates, nature, and animals (the petting zoo and farm animals brought in for the summer party were a nice touch!). We know the staff members by name, and they genuinely care for the children they look after. My child has been at DB since July 2022 when she started in Ducklings, and just this past week was given a cap and gown to wear for her graduation ceremony, which boasted balloons, thoughtful gift bags, a magician, and treats for all. DB knows how to make children and parents feel special - it's a wonderful community. Thank you to everyone.
Both of my children love nursery. The nursery has got better and better over the last year. Communication is now very good and the environment feels loving and supportive. The community between the families is also brilliant.
Management and the rest of the Ducklings Team have been incredibly welcoming for our son who recently started at Dicky Birds. He has settled in very quickly, and he is very happy and enjoys being there. They have great communication, have events where parents can come and hang out with the children outside of drop off and pick up which is often a busy time and overall is a warm and welcoming environment. I am very pleased we have put our son into Dicky Birds Queens Road.
Both of my two kiddies (aged 4 and 2) have absolutely loved Dickies since they were babies. It has a lovely family feel and communication with room leaders and management has been great. All of the staff have been extremely nurturing and loving with the girls and they're always coming up with new engaging activities.
My daughter is very happy at nursery and growing in confidence and skills. She has been there since ducklings and is now in pre-school. She surprises us every day with a new little skill! The team are lovely and she is very fond of them. They deal admirably with difficult drop-offs and are always happy to offer a cuddle and reassurance for parents. We'll miss them all when she goes to school!
Our children are happy here. The staff are really kind and caring towards the children and the environment is so homely and welcoming. The nursery are making loads of effort to involve the parents and organise events which I also appreciate.
We’re really happy with the Ducklings team at Dickybirds Queens Road. Our child loves going to nursery - there are so many activities, and they seem educational as well as fun. The staff in Ducklings are wonderful - so caring to the children, and really helpful and informative for us. The food is nutritious and varied, and overall, we feel our child is really well looked after.
I have 2 children (1 boy, 1 girl) at Dicky Birds, and also another son who moved on to school, from Dicky Birds, a couple of years' ago. Dicky Birds is a wonderful environment for my children to develop. Their social skills are amazing, and this is down to the great work that the Dicky Birds team put into making the nursery a very welcoming and enriching environment. Now that it is spring, it is lovely to see how much nursery garden time, and trips to South Park Gardens, that the children are getting. The Manager and the team go above and beyond to ensure the children, and parents, feel very comfortable with Dicky Birds. The recent sessions where parents could attend (eg sensory afternoon/science afternoon) have been great and it is so nice to get an insight into what the children are learning. Thanks to all of the Dicky Birds staff!
My daughter is in the nursery and has been with the nursery for a few years. The team are wonderful and welcomes us in every morning, sometimes if my daughter is sad they will give her a lovely cuddle and help her adjust for the day. I feel very reassured every day that she is having so much fun! It has been lovely to see the changes in the nursery over the last year, we enjoy coming into the nursery for the parental activity sessions which have been a lot of fun for us and the children.
My daughter has been attending Dicky Birds for almost a year. She is very well cared for and she adores her key workers who have been very caring and patient as it took her some time to settle in. She thoroughly enjoys the wide range of activities that Dicky Birds offer and it is comforting to know that she is in safe hands when I drop her off in the morning! The staff and management are all very welcoming & approachable, always willing to help! When I pick her up in the evening her smile says it all
I collect a a little girl from Dicky Birds and every time I do the handover is always amazing. The girls in the baby room are very welcome and nice, they make sure to tell me all her day so I can tell her parents. She really loves to be there, in a normal day it takes at least twenty minutes to come out because she refuses to leave. The management there is also very easy to talk to and helpful. I'm now pregnant and Dicky Birds will be one of my options.
I have 2 children (1 boy, 1 girl) at Dicky Birds. My son has been attending 3 days a week for 1 year, since 9 months and my eldest has been attending for 3 years. We have had a fantastic experience at Dicky Birds, the staff do an amazing job of keeping the children happy, well cared for and engaged in learning and playing. The atmosphere in the rooms is happy, warm and loving and the kids very much feel part of the Dicky Birds family! We have especially appreciated the thought and energy that the team put into the activities in the rooms which keep the children engaged and learning. The teams that care for the children day-to-day are dedicated and hard working. I often feel that they are genuinely passionate about what they do, they know my childrens' personalities, what makes them happy and how to help them when they need help. There is a solid focus on learning, development and helping prep for school in the older rooms. They will be very sad when it comes to leave for primary school!
Both my daughters have attended Dicky Birds Queens Road from around eleven months old and have absolutely thrived. All the staff are so welcoming each morning and always so helpful when ever I had questions or concerns.
My daughter has thrived at Dicky Birds, moving from babies into toddlers, she is so excited to come into the nursery every day and is always greeted with a big smile. The nursery has provided more care and reassurance for us after a challenging year for them, always putting effort into the activities and fun they have every day with the children. We love the weekly roundups we get and seeing all the fun the children had over the week. The management team are wonderful for sharing nursery updates and giving us loads of opportunities to come into the nursery and be a part of it. Thank you to the wonderful carers and team who look after our little girl.
My son attended Dicky Birds Queens Road prior to starting school this September. I couldn’t have been more impressed by the staff members within the room. Always helpful, engaging and most of all, they adored my son! They provided him with everything he needed to be the happy, confident, educated child he is today. The leadership team supported us as a family through some behaviour challenges we were having at home and provided information that helped us deal with this more adequately. The food was healthy and homely and he was certainly a fan of the many meals! I have felt nothing but warmth from our time here and I couldn’t recommend this team enough. Thank you all for everything.
I, alongside many other parents as of late, made the decision to pull my son out of Dicky Birds Queen's Road in November 2022. This is a big chain of a nursery where profits come above care - rooms are at capacity and staff numbers are filled with agency workers with whom children cannot form any attachment to. Management is weak, parents are given the bare minimum in terms of feedback, the settling-in period for us (Sep 22) was completely chaotic, with no system in place to support new parents. Complaints to head office and to the area manager were not addressed properly - there are so many issues with this nursery and I believe now, after Ofsted intervention, they are finally taking some action having ignored so many parents before now. My child is now at another local nursery, small and privately owned and absolutely thriving, a stark contrast to his time here. I feel my family were utterly let down by Dicky Birds and would advise all parents to avoid this setting at all costs.
The settling in period wasn't managed very well by the key person. However, the way the management team handled our concerns was outstanding. We felt they were really listening, providing details of our child's day and what the team is doing to resolve any issues we had. The staff in the room were so caring and always told us with so much excitement about our daughter's day and what she achieved. The love and care for our daughter felt genuine. She was always happy to go to nursery.
My daughter spent 3 years at Dicky Birds Queens Road and my son started attending last September. This is a lovely, welcoming, caring, thoughtful and creative nursery with attentive and affectionate staff. For me, the best measure of the high standards of this nursery has been that whenever I have had any concerns/questions they have been quickly and thoroughly dealt with. Their response to the Covid pandemic from the start has been clear towards the parents and very containing towards the children. The fact that my children loved nursery made it easy for me to feel the same!
We loved Dickie Birds and were sad to take our daughter out of here when we moved away, the staff are lovely and it was clear our daughter was excited to go there each day. My only feedback would be that the settling in process wasn't handled well and that communication to start was a bit patchy, but after one honest conversation with the team this was rectified very quickly and as I say, the end experience was great. Would strongly recommend sending a child here to any prospective parents.
