Long Close School has been awarded Model School status for the second year running by Ruth Miskin. Model Schools achieve outstanding results by making sure teaching children to read is at the heart of what they do. They teach Read Write Inc. Phonics for an hour a day – every day – and run weekly practice sessions for staff. Crucially, they make the slowest progress children their priority: each child benefits from daily 10-minute tutoring, until they are able to keep up with their peers.
At Long Close nursery, we introduce the Read Write Inc. phonics curriculum from Age 2.
