Fire Engine Visit Delights Children and Care Home Residents at Tops Pokesdown

Tops Day Nurseries Pokesdown, located on Wolverton Road, recently hosted a special “Joining Generations” session, continuing its longstanding partnership with residents from Southbourne Beach Care Home – Avery Collection.

The nursery regularly visits the care home as part of its commitment to bringing generations together, building meaningful relationships between children and residents over time. These visits have become a valued and familiar part of life for both the children and the care home community.

This particular session was made even more exciting with a special visit from a fire engine. Children and residents alike had the opportunity to explore the vehicle, learn about fire safety, and meet local firefighters, creating a shared educational experience that sparked curiosity and joy. The visit provided a valuable learning opportunity for the children, helping them understand the role of emergency services while developing confidence and communication skills. At the same time, residents enjoyed being part of the children’s excitement, strengthening the bonds that have grown through regular visits over the years.

Chloe Boon, Deputy Manager at Tops Pokesdown, said: "It was such a great experience for everyone. We regularly visit the care home, so it’s really special to have built such a strong relationship over time. The children absolutely loved seeing the fire engine and learning from the firefighters, and it was wonderful to share that moment with the residents."

The “Joining Generations” initiative remains a key part of Tops Pokesdown’s community approach, highlighting the importance of long-term partnerships and shared experiences that benefit both young and older members of the community.
