WHAT WE ARE LEARNING - WEEK COMMENCING 16TH FEBRUARY 2026

Clever Cats & Clever Kittens This week in Preschool, our children have really loved thinking about ‘I Love You Day’ we have been making love potions, creating pictures to share with our loved ones, talking about who we love and who we are grateful for and why.

Next week it is half term but that doesn’t stop us from having fun, it will be Pancake Day so we will be measuring, making pancakes, practising tossing them and of course enjoying them!

As Ramadan and also Lent begin, we will be talking about the things we enjoy, how it will take perseverance and ‘keeping on going’ to be successful in giving up something we enjoy. This will be an opportunity to talk about good choices, healthy choices and unhealthy choices.

We will also continue to make our dragon and learn about Chinese New Year.

Ladybirds Next week in Ladybirds, as it is Pancake Day next Tuesday we will be making & eating lots of pancakes together! The children will also be using playdough to create our very own pancakes also looking at different toppings of fruit -sweet and sour. Next week will also be the start of Ramadan and the children will be exploring what Ramadan means!

Butterflies Next week in the Baby Room we will be celebrating Pancake Day with simple, hands-on sensory experiences. The children will explore the feel of flour and batter, also helping to mix, and enjoy tasting them, while we use simple words to describe what is happening such as “mix,” and “pour”. This will support their early language and curiosity. We will also be sharing the story 'Guess How Much I Love You’, using actions, cuddles and simple gestures to help the children join in and explore feelings of love and closeness.
