WHAT WE ARE LEARNING - WEEK COMMENCING 9TH FEBRUARY 2026

Clever Cats & Clever Kittens This week in Preschool, we’ve had a really good focus on numbers and the children have really enjoyed cutting out numbers, drawing round shapes, various counting and tallying activities. 

Next week we will continue to bring numbers into our planning as well as ‘I Love You Day’. Our story will be ’Paper Dolls’ and we’ll be making Paper Families and talking about how we show love for families such as how parents and carers show love by keeping children safe. We will be looking at the book ‘Teddy Takes a Tumble’ reminding children why staying strapped in their car seat is their family’s way of keeping them safe and how they can keep themselves safe in the seat- we will be doing a tumbling experiment to show them how someone NOT strapped in can be damaged and broken. 

We will be revisiting the family books so feel free to update any family pictures so we can continue to update the family books with recent pictures. 

As well as talking about how we show love, we will be printing with different media, writing for a purpose and practicing writing our names in a well formed way. 

Ladybirds Next week in Ladybirds will be celebrating ‘I Love You Day’ with lots of lovely, hands-on activities! The children will be exploring the theme through a range of creative crafts to make and take home, supporting self-expression and fine motor skills. In our tuff tray, we’ll be diving into some pink gloop to explore textures and sensory play. It’s set to be a fun, nurturing week full of creativity, exploration and care for one another.

Butterflies Next week in the Baby Room, we will be celebrating ‘I Love You Day’ by focusing on love, comfort and connection. We will be reading ‘Count to Love!’ This book introduces early counting through loving touches like fingers, toes and noses. the book celebrates affection, bonding, and early learning, linking for our ‘I Love You Day’ activities.
