Kiddi Caru Crews Hole Awarded ‘Good’ Ofsted rating

We are thrilled to announce that our Kiddi Caru Day Nursery and Preschool in Crews Hole has achieved a ‘Good’ rating from Ofsted in their recent inspection.

The 68-place setting, located in the Bristol suburb of the same name, offers a warm, welcoming and inspiring environment for children aged 3 months to 5 years. The passionate and dedicated staff team support and nurture each child’s development to help build their confidence, knowledge and emotional well-being.

The report praised many key aspects of the nursery which scored Good across all four of Ofsted’s key categories. These are Quality of Education, Behaviour and Attitudes, Personal Development and Leadership and Management

“Staff help children understand and express their emotions confidently” Preschool children enjoy listening to a story about feelings. Staff help to expand their vocabulary by teaching them new words for their feelings and then encourage them to recall different emotions they’ve felt. Children happily join in the discussion and describe how these feelings changed their facial expressions. Children across the nursery are kind to each other but when they struggle with taking turns or sharing, staff speak in a calm voice and help them understand how this behaviour affects their peers.

“Staff well-being is important to leaders” Leaders have worked hard to create good working conditions within the nursery. Staff report that they enjoy working in the team and feel valued and supported in their roles. Team building days are held regularly.

“The curriculum is good and prepares children for the next stage of learning” The curriculum is well-implemented by staff which helps children stay engaged in their learning. Children express themselves creatively in a variety of ways, like body painting and using natural materials to create artwork, which allows them to use their imaginations. Outside, preschool children plant seeds and display a knowledge of how plants grow. Children are confident and talk enthusiastically with staff about what they know and can do. “The nursery has a strong focus on supporting children’s physical development” Toddlers are helped by staff to make music with percussion instruments and enjoy dancing to the rhythm which builds their co-ordination and balance. Older children take part in exercise through running and then discuss with staff about why it makes them feel breathless. Climbing through tunnels helps babies develop their core strength.

Families of children at the nursery have also given positive feedback on their experience. They report that their children are happy to attend and feel well-informed about their progress and daily activities. This is further reflected in the nursery’s excellent score of 9.6 on DayNurseries.co.uk.
