Festivities were well underway at Nature Trails Day Nursery in Cawston as children and colleagues celebrated Earth Day with a series of activities to promote care for the planet.

At the Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ Day Nursery on Coventry Road, young environmentalists showcased their creativity by crafting their own replicas of the Earth using recycled collage materials and blue and green paint, all whilst discussing how re-using items is beneficial.

As part of the experience, children took to the idyllic garden space outside, where they embarked on a special minibeast hunt and watered the flowers and crops growing in their allotment area, making observations and talking about different colours and sizes.

It is for such initiatives that Nature Trails have earnt a prestigious ‘Green Flag’ award from Eco-Schools for exceptional environmental awareness and conservation practices.

Nature Trails Deputy Manager, Kelly Lawson explained;

“Earth Day is a brilliant opportunity for our children to explore the world around them and understand the importance of looking after it. We’re proud to nurture this awareness from such a young age through hands-on, meaningful experiences.”
