WHAT WE ARE LEARNING - APRIL 28TH

Clever Cats To celebrate National Pet Month the Clever Cats will be exploring different types of pets and what pets other children have within the classroom. The children will be asked to share images of their pets that they have at home and the children will create a bar chart to display how many of each pet there is within the classroom. We will also be learning about animal safety and how to stay safe when meeting new animals.

Clever Kittens Next week, the Kittens will be looking at Space as we celebrate Space Day. The children will be given the opportunity to create their own aliens using a variety of different materials. They will create a picture making marks using different resources such as paint and pencils. Once they have done this, we will talk about what makes them different to ourselves and what is the same, for example two eyes. The children will also have a go at making their own rockets using blocks. We will talk about what colours they are using, and how many blocks are they using? Will it be as tall as them or will it be smaller? We will try to use different mathematical language to describe the rocket.

Ladybirds Next week the children within the toddler room are focusing their learning on Space Day. As the children have demonstrated such an interest in play within the home corner and with the dolls, we are going to host our very own teddy bears picnic on the moon. The children will be learning new vocabulary such as ‘Moon’, ‘Space’, ‘Planet and will be making their very own moon sand to explore fine motor development through pouring. 

Butterflies In the Baby Unit next week we are zoom zoom zoom zooming to the moon. We will be moving our bodies to the music and practising jumping using two feet. In our 10 steps to toddlers next steps we are working on identifying our own belongings including our shoes, coat and bag. We will be practicing putting these on ourselves too!
