Could this be the most sought-after nursery in London?

Buttercups Nursery Ealing has just received another Outstanding rating at their recent Ofsted inspection, a status they share with only one other nursery in the W5 area. Perhaps it is not surprising then that it is known locally as, “The most difficult nursery to get into”. Such is the popularity of Buttercups Ealing that parents are happy to wait months, or even years, for a place. And, despite there being a full waiting list, families continue to register their interest via the nursery’s website - in droves.

So what makes Buttercups Ealing so desirable?

Nursery Head Sarah explains, “We are very lucky to be situated close to Ealing Broadway in a beautiful house with a large rear garden, this allows us to offer our children many new experiences and opportunities to support their learning and development. But it is our outstanding parent partnership that won us an award in 2022; families and parents feel they belong to a nursery community and love that they can join in with their child's nursery journey.

Parents know that we are working here because we enjoy our roles as teachers and want the best for their children. We support our families through life’s challenges such as moving home, arrival of new siblings, behaviour at home or serious illness. We have long-standing team members, which means the world to parents, and, as Nursery Head, I make sure that I am at the door every day so that parents get to know me. The caring nature of our team extends beyond the nursery walls; we have taken part in Race for Life, we make cards for a local retirement home, we support a Montessori nursery in Tanzania and we recently collected Easter Eggs to deliver to a local hospice.”

The team is also a big factor, as one parent told us, “Sarah makes the nursery really special. I know that when I drop my son off in the morning that he will be well cared for because the same compassionate nature runs through the whole team!” Joanna, parent of 2-year-old.

The nursery is part of the Buttercups Nursery Group, a family run chain with 8 nurseries in and around West London. The group is no stranger to receiving Outstanding from Ofsted, with six nurseries now enjoying this accolade. “At Buttercups we pride ourselves providing a high standard of childcare, employing the best people and constantly looking for ways to improve. I want the same for our parents’ children as for my own children, and grandchildren, who attended the nurseries,” said Carol Whitehouse, Director and Founder of Buttercups. “I am so proud of all of our team members for the love and care they show to the children every day.”

As the Ofsted inspector said, “The passionate and dedicated management team is committed to the role it plays in the lives of children who attend, as well as the impact it makes on the wider community.” [Ofsted inspection number 10305439, 20th February 2024]
