Little Explorers Day Nursery & Preschool has been awarded a ‘Good’ Ofsted rating in their latest inspection.

Ofsted inspected the day nursery and preschool on Quality of Education, Behaviours & Attitudes, Personal Development and Leadership & Management, in which they received ‘Good’ across all areas. This was Little Explorers first Ofsted inspection since they were acquired by Grandir UK.

Little Explorers Day Nursery & Preschool is situated in a beautiful location on Knighton Road, close to the Cradock Arms pub in the Clarendon Park and Knighton area of Leicestershire. The nursery is known as a place where children settle quickly in a safe and secure environment and develop strong relationships with the kind and nurturing staff.

The inspection report highlighted how well the nursery supports children’s communication and language skills. The nursery team provide an enriched language and learning environment where children show a love of reading. According to the inspector, from an early age ‘children choose their favourite books, which staff read to them enthusiastically’, developing children’s vocabulary and supporting their overall learning. The nursery equally does a good job of recognising when a child might need extra support, making swift referrals and putting actions in place to ensure children’s learning is supported.

Mealtimes at the nursery are noted as social occasions in the report. The nursery team and children sit together, chatting happily to each other. ‘Healthy meals are prepared by the nursery cook, who ensures children's dietary requirements are met.’ The nursery team helps children become independent by encouraging ‘children to serve their own food and use jugs to pour their own drinks.’ The inspector noted that good hygiene routines are put in place and children know to wash their hands before eating.

At Little Explorers, leaders have a clear focus and know what skills they need to improve on. The nursery team’s professional development is fully supported to help them grow their skills and become better teachers. The inspector was impressed by how the management team and experienced team members ‘model good practice and quality interactions for those staff who are less experienced.’

Little Explorers Day Nursery & Preschool Manager, Laura Pothecary, comments on their latest inspection result: "I could not be happier with the kind comments the inspector noted in our report. We do everything we can to ensure children grow and flourish in our setting and we will continue to improve our offering from the inspector’s feedback. A massive thank to my nursery team for achieving our ‘Good’ Ofsted rating."

Little Explorers Day Nursery & Preschool are holding their next National Open Day Saturday 20th April 2024.
