Westwood Day Nursery banish the Monday blues

Despite being labelled as the ‘the gloomiest day of the year’, there were smiles all round at Westwood Day Nursery in Coventry as children and colleagues reinvented ‘Blue Monday’ with a series of inspired wellbeing activities to promote happiness and positivity.

Dressed in green as an antidote to the Monday blues, children enjoyed a series of green themed activities, from sensory play to crafting sessions, whilst colleagues were treated to a pizza lunch courtesy of their grateful managers, as well as being gifted self-care treats to help relax and unwind at home, including face packs, bath bombs and bubble bath.

The latest celebration in nursery follows a new company wellbeing initiative launched in January, giving each colleague the potential to earn up to 20 extra days of paid leave throughout 2024, based on attendance, to help improve and enhance work-life balance.

Westwood Day Nursery Manager, Lyndsey Matthews explained;

“There are no Blue Mondays at Westwood thanks to our incredible network of nursery colleagues and families, who bring the fun every single day. We also know that taking care of our staff is just as important as caring for the little ones and it's essential they recharge their batteries so they can give their best. We are hugely grateful for all that they do.”

‘Blue Monday’ is marked on the third Monday of January every year.
