The Old Station Nursery Group has invested in antiviral fogging machines for all of its 30 settings in a bid to keep them Covid-safe.

The government agency, the Health and Safety Executive, recommends that ‘during the coronavirus pandemic, fog, mist, vapour or UV treatments may be suitable options to help control the spread of the virus, by cleaning and disinfecting a larger space or room’.

The nursery group is using the fogging machines to sanitise the nursery rooms and outdoor play equipment.

Commenting on the group’s investment, chief executive Sarah Steel, said, “I think it’s important to do everything we possibly can to keep our children, families and staff safe and healthy. This is especially important at the moment but will continue to be a priority for us long after coronavirus.”

She added: “It is essential that our parents know that we are taking all precautions to keep their children safe; and that our staff feel safe and happy in their workplace. These fogging machines will provide a further level of defence against coronavirus and other infections, on top of the extensive procedures that we already have in place at each nursery.”

The Old Station Nursery group is using Edge Protect which offers an in-house fogging solution enabling the group of nurseries to effectively manage daily hygiene and infection control themselves.

The fogging machine works by spraying a fine mist with small mist droplets landing on all surfaces. The anti-microbial shield layer continues to work residually when dry, giving lasting protection. The solution is a non-toxic PH neutral formulation so it can be used on all surfaces, including soft furnishings, textiles, wood, metal and plastic.
