Elephant adoption at Windmill Hill Day Nursery

Delighted children from Windmill Hill Day Nursery in Swindon have adopted an elephant from Whipsnade Zoo after taking an interest in the majestic animals.

After receiving their documents to certify ‘BB’ the elephant’s adoption, children from the day nursery on Windmill Business Park, Whitehill Way, created a scrapbook filled with information on the creatures, including how they are cared for and how they are protected within the UK.

To extend the interest, the pre-schoolers also showcased their creativity by making elephant masks, biscuits and cheesy trunk pizzas.

Windmill Hill Day Nursery Team Leader, Jas Mander explained;

“The children are so excited to have adopted BB the elephant, and are able to go and visit him with their parents whenever they wish. As well as this project teaching the importance of conservation, it helps to promote a wider understanding of the world and the living creatures in it.”
