Early Christmas treat for West Cambridge preschoolers

‘Santa’s workshop’ at West Cambridge Day Nursery has been in overdrive making gifts for parents so Father Christmas dropped in with some surprises of his own last week.

Visiting each of the age-appropriate rooms at the Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ day nursery in Charles Babbage Road on the University site, he delivered a total of 120 gifts – one for each child – and admired decorations, cards and a variety of crafted items made by the children for their parents. About 30 families attended the Christmas party which West Cambridge Team Leader, Dalton Smither, described as the highlight of festive activities at the day nursery.

“This time of the year is particularly magical for us at West Cambridge so it is wonderful to be able to share it with parents and give them a huge thank you for all their support during the year,” he said. Children and staff had pulled out all the stops in ‘workshops’ throughout the nursery to make Father Christmas feel welcome with decorated trees and a variety of crafted items like cards and magical reindeer food made by the children.

Nursery kitchen team, Julie Mills and Libia Begun, created a feast of the children’s favourite dishes and an entertainer performed for the 120 guests.
