Building a successful childcare career with flexible working

Bright Horizons Family Solutions®, a leading provider of high-quality childcare and early education is delighted to announce the launch of an innovative employment proposition for flexible working: Bright Start.

According to research from Lancaster University* flexible working will become the main way of working for 70 per cent of organisations over the next couple of years. With this clearly in our mind we are expanding our employment offer, giving our employees the opportunity to choose how they work with us.

Attracting and retaining talented people in a competitive employment market is our number one challenge. Bright Start is an innovative proposition which embraces flexible working in order to appeal to experienced early years professionals, who are seeking roles which can be fitted around their increasingly complex lives. This is critical in ensuring we deliver the very highest quality of care and education, at a time and place that suits our parents and children.

“At Bright Horizons, we understand the importance of balancing work with family life,” said John Handley, Director of Human Resources. “The time when jobs run from Monday to Friday and 9am to 6pm, are no longer the dominant way of working. We have recognised that we can play a leading role in helping people to find the right work/life fit.”

“We are committed to achieving our goal of attracting and retaining the very best talent. We are prepared to build our organisation around people’s real lives and not expect people to build their real lives around organisation.”

Bright Start employees will be core members of our Bright Horizons family and will receive a full induction to Bright Horizons, an enhanced pay rate that reflects their commitment to geographical flexibility and ongoing training and development. We want to help our colleagues progress their career and continually grow.

The scheme is currently available across 12 nurseries in South West London and the Surrey area with intention to expand across our 300 nurseries. We will only do this once we addressed any operational challenges to ensure it is totally successful for our colleagues, our parents and our children.
