The children at Kiddi Caru’s Basingstoke day nursery shimmied with the actual Timmy of Timmy Time fame on Tuesday 15th March, after winning a visit from the popular children’s TV character in a competition run by Sport Relief.
Timmy visited the nursery to meet the children, have his photo taken with them, and of course join in with their dance moves – which they have been learning ready to ‘Shimmy with Timmy’ to raise money for Sport Relief on Friday 18th March. The Basingstoke day nursery won the competition because of the range of fantastic activities they had planned for March 18th to raise funds while having lots of fun.
Catherine Harrison, Schools Engagement and Fundraising Manager at Sport Relief, said: “It is brilliant that Kiddi Caru nurseries are getting involved in Sport Relief this year. All of their fundraising plans are amazing, especially Kiddi Caru Basingstoke’s, whose fabulous event won them this visit from Timmy of Timmy Time fame himself! We really appreciate their support, and the money they raise this Sport Relief will make a massive difference to people living incredibly tough lives, here at home in the UK and across the world’s poorest communities.’
Gemma Hobden, Nursery Manager, added: “The children had a fantastic time with Timmy and there was lots of excitement when he arrived! They very much enjoyed showing him their dance moves and having their photograph taken with him. Many thanks to Sport Relief for organising the visit, it really was a fabulous experience for the children.”
